hypothetical question

For what it's worth, I fully believe that we will receive an invite back into the SPL during the close season which the Rangers board will accept due to the financial aspects of being in the top flight - I won't support such a discussion but can /would understand the reasoning behind accepting !

Okay, let's say we do get an invite and we accept it, who then do we sign to keep us in the top eight?

A bunch of out of contract players who no one else wants?

Suicide.

One of the conditions of our re-entry to the top division must be that the registration embargo is lifted

What? An invite and the transfer embargo lifted?

Can you imagine the furore in kiddiefiddler street and the mhedia? They'd be tripping over themselves in the clamour, while we sit back with grins like the cat got the milk.

Will NEVER happen.

It may well happen. Things are going to get pretty desperate very soon. All the financial promises to clubs regards reconstruction may soon be worthless. Why cant Longmuir see the SKY contract on which these financial promises depend? surely Liewell & Doncaster haven't been telling porkies ? interesting times lie ahead in the not too distant future

Agreed. And what player is going to join on short term deals. We'll sign more of the same and be stuck with them on 3 year contracts. Right now we are planning for 3 seasons in the SFL signing players to get us up the leagues then improving the standard of players when the time is right. If we are all of a sudden in the SPL we're left wasting wages on the players we have now who arent good enough for the SPL. However the other side of the coin is that these players MIGHT be good enough and improve under a manager who's training and coaching improves players. So are we then stuck with a manager who isnt good enough for the SPL?

I cant believe people would accept going back to the SPL in a few months time to save the skin of others and not based on the wrong doings against us last year. Lets be honest the sole reason to propell Rangers back to the SPL is finance and nothing else. If it was genuine reasons then it would have been on the table months ago!!

We can only sign free agents this summer no matter what league we're playing in. The difference is the quality of player we can attract and afford if we're in the SPL.

I think refusing an invitation would be primarily out of spite and I think that would be incredibly foolish.

You're walking home late one night, you've had a bit too much to drink and lost your judgemental abilities. You take a shortcut through an area, you would otherwise have avoided. A gang of wee shites, (lets say for the sake of argument there were ten of them) jump you, and spend the rest of the night kicking fuck out of you and trying to humiliate you in any way they can. Then they nick your watch and your wallet.

Daybreak comes. You've sobered up, the world is back on an even keel. You know who they are and you can get them, one by one or as a group. But you *can* make them pay for their fun.

Then you get an offer; if you leave them alone, let them go and let bygones be bygones - you'll get you watch and wallet back.

You're saying that rejecting the 'offer' would be down to spite?

how much are the watch and wallet worth?
