THE EDITORIAL Standards Committee today upheld a complaint from Rangers fans that the BBC had failed to demonstrate enough â??clarity and precisionâ?? when reporting on Rangers Football Club.

The Committee concluded the BBC â??had not used clear, precise language and due accuracy had not been achieved.â?? It was also agreed that on balance and taking into account the sensitivities, where the purpose of the item of output is to discuss football and the club, then it was not appropriate to make a distinction between an â??oldâ??, â??newâ?? or â??re-launched club.â??

Rangers Football Club are pleased that the Editorial Standards Committee findings prove the BBC should have been more aware and balanced in their reporting of Rangers. We wait to discover if the BBC will now treat this club and fans with the respect they deserve.

Too little, too late from Rangers.

It's unacceptable that our club continues to leave it to the fans to pursue such issues. Immense credit to the bears who followed this through but the fact they had to and RFC did not is extremely disappointing - BBC Scotland ban or not.
