Rangers director King: Listen, we simply can’t risk a 6-0 battering at Celtic Park

Recommended Posts

anyone on the forum think that maybe mister king is waiting/hoping for admin 2 to gain control of the club

Can anyone show me anything anywhere where King has intimated he wants to control the Club? He has only ever said that he would be interested in being an investor on the board (as he was previously) as far as I'm aware.

Would the current shareholders not be committing financial suicide if they decided on another share issue?

If they issued another 60m shares it would immediately halve their interest and take the share value down to about 13p and even if King bought all the shares it would still cost him around £8m and he'd still only have 50% of the company and need to invest yet even more money.........

At least that should put to bed the comments everytime some shares get sold ....... "why is King not buying these shares".

He's said it time and time again, he will not line the pockets of investors and will only put money straight into the club.

You wish...it's been said over and over again, and the same accusation keeps coming up.

Not if it's a rights issue and they take up their rights. That would enable current shareholders to maintain their proportionate stake in the company. King might be prepared to underwrite the issue but that would be at the offer price.

Sorry berliner but who is the "club" that you would give the money to? Surely the board are in control of invested money, especially when it is the next two seasons st cash! all that money would not be available for restructuring, most would be needed for day to day running of the club.

Similar to how it is done with another option: membership schemes. There would be a trustee who gets a seat at the directors table, someone who knows exactly where any money either from bought up season tickets or membership money is being used. He would release money accordingly. If that is not acceptable, look at the Yahoos. They essentially have two companies running the club, utterly legal by the looks of it and helpful to keep certain interests and investments apart.

That's my thinking on King as well. I think he just wants to invest heavily in the club again and wants the club to be getting run in a manner that we can ultimately be successful and get back to the very top of Scottish football where we belong. He would probably also want to be directly involved in the boardroom decisions because he wouldn't want his investment to get frittered away on stuff that doesn't improve the product on the park and the chances of success in the top flight.

To be honest though, I think at the moment he'll still be very wary of who's really running the club and where his money would be going in another share issue because clearly the so-called 'costs' attached to the IPO were ridiculous, perhaps even scandalous.

It would be proper financial suicide if they piss the fans of anymore.

Everyone gets that message just not everyone believes it portrays a realistic view from King.

If anyone here could afford to put £20m into the club, would they do it with Ally in charge of how it is spent?

We have problems everywhere we look, but if serious money is found to spend on the team, it would be a big mistake to allow it to be spent inappropriately.

There are problems at board level, but there are problems with the football operation too. Anyone willing to invest in Rangers would surely want an assurance that a proven manager is in charge of identifying new talent.

Do we need to wait until things go wrong at the top level, or will something be done to influence events before we get there?

Having more money is highly desirable, but so is having a manager who is capable of getting the very best out of it.

We surely cannot take the chance of finding new investment - and then seeing it frittered away with little or no reward.
