Thomas Buffel On Way Out?

Recommended Posts

Buffel has the potential to be a great player but not the heart to do it.

Needs a trip to the wizard of OZ to get a heart to make him a star.

Unless he bucks up it is follow the yellow brick road.

Looks like Buffel might stay after all...

Thomas Buffel's proposed move from Rangers to Hannover has fallen through.

The Belgium midfielder looked set to complete a transfer to the Bundesliga club on Wednesday, however a dispute over contractual terms led to the deal breaking down.

Buffel, 25, had been given permission to leave Ibrox by manager Walter Smith.

Hannover sporting director Christian Hochstatter said: "The situation was that Thomas Buffel's agent received a written offer from us after repeated negotiations.

"The answer to our offer came the day before yesterday, in which it was said that Thomas Buffel would join us.

"We assumed that the player would then sign.

"When additional charges came up and the player said he had different figures in his head, then that can't be Hannover's fault, but it shows a communication problem between the agent and player."

Buffel was a £2.3million buy from Feyenoord in 2005 and now looks set to fight for his place Ibrox.

Hochstatter added: "He has advisors and they apparently gave him the wrong information.

"Things emerged yesterday which were not discussed - additional charges which are simply not justified from our view.

"Eventually you have to say, 'Okay, it's not going to happen'."

I still think he can play a role for us. He has loads of ability and is a player who can turn a game (if he wants). He is still young 24, 25. On his day he is better than Hartley, so Im kinda glad he is still here.

He needs to buckle down and work hard.
