RST Welcomes Rangers Action on Graham Spiers

 

The Rangers Supporters Trust is delighted with Rangers' action in challenging the lies of Herald columnist Graham Spiers.The club has today secured a humiliating public climb down from Mr Spiers following his latest false accusations.

Mr Spiers has made a career out of fanning the flames of sectarianism and his dishonest commentary on the subject has been highlighted more than once. Rangers acted decisively earlier this year to remove Mr Spiers' press privileges. This action has been proven correct both in the context of Mr Spiers' previous dishonesty and his latest outburst for which both he and the Herald have been forced to apologise.

 

We do not believe Mr Spiers' latest humiliation will necessarily curb his appetite for printing or broadcasting lies about our club. We therefore hope that in future, any editors or producers who still inexplicably employ him are more diligent in checking his work. Clearly he can't be trusted to do so himself.

Are the RST going to ask the board why they are not defending the Rangers fans against the lies that are printed in the MSM

The RST has been very quiet lately responding to the lies, that have been reported as fact. About the our supporters attacking away fans Ibrox. It does seem on this occasion the board have allowed the RST some comment on this. But should the RST not be commenting on attacks and lies aimed at the support as well as the board?

Often, you remind what's left of your readership/listenership that you completed a degree in Divinity/Theology at St Andrews. There may have been a calling; but a constant failure to tell the truth(remember Klinsmanns a Klansman) and a desire to perform the act of fingering your organ live on TV(twice), ensures ridicule is your fate.

 

Return to tertiary education, look for a red brick edifice providing a course on 'Indignation'. Demand Monday morning lectures on, 'I was nearly quite important'.

Well done to the board,however it seems they only defend any direct attack on them,pity they are not so quick to defend the fans!

Disappointing all the same!,a fresh new approach was what were told when the new board were asking us to invest heavily in the club!,but why are the numerous, (soon to be one?),fans groups,especially the RST not communicating with the club on these issues?,or if they are then why not say so?

I agree entirely. The attacks on everything to do with our club and our supporters will only intensify come the summer and into next season. It is always high up on a list of fans frustrations. The fans groups are all voluntary, with full time jobs to do and families to support. This should come directly from the club's media and PR department, which should be facilitated sufficiently to cope with the demand.

Of course!,however is there anything stopping the fans groups from releasing a statement calling out the lies from the Morton chairman and the witch in the edinburgh evening news?,and also informing the club of these concerns?,if they contact the club and the club does not respond then they should say so!,it's not that difficult!
