Worth of our squad

Recommended Posts

Looking at how much Warburton has spent assembling his side, I was wondering how much we could reasonably value the players at, as we approach the end of this season. These aren't the values I think these players are worth, but what Rangers would hope to sell them for - taking into account the extra clubs add for being in a strong position re.contracts, and the great slicks of cash washing about down south.

I would imagine that the valuations given are a calculation of the players weekly wage, multiplied by the number of weeks left on his contract.

That is an objective starting point and any transfer fee would then take into account the subjective of how much the new team want him compared to the price given, and how much the current team want to keep him compared to the money offered.

Not sure how they come to their valuations, but I assume that age, length of contract, country and league have a big say in here. Whether they add e.g. the goal-tally of a striker and international experience / caps on that is anyone's guess. But as calscot says, it is a more or less objective starting point. What will dramatically change the fee is the "demand and supply" factor, i.e. e.g. how much a team needs to sell or a team wants a player.

It's difficult to tell really given the level we're playing at.

I'd suggest Waghorn and McKay are perhaps are biggest assets but there are certainly a few more whose value will be increasing all the time.

I can't see us selling anyone anytime soon though as most of the folk surplus to requirements are out of contract in the summer.

I new on here so my first post, go easy! I reckon our keeper Forderingham is a great asset and really underrated by some. £1.5k is a reasonable price tag and after hopefully after a good season next year when we go up, I would double that.

Up to £3,000? :D

Sorry, couldn't resist.
