JFK-1 1,677 Posted July 27, 2016 Share Posted July 27, 2016 This guy doesn't need money and if he were to go to Stoke he's going to be in a team with zero prospect of winning any honours and zero prospect of playing in Europe. Their only objective is to stay above the relegation zone. If we accept that Van Persie has more on his mind than accumulating more money he will never need it makes sense. This will likely be his last contract before retirement. What would be more appealing to round his career off? You've got to remember too - he left the EPL under a cloud and probably thought at the time "thank **** it's over, I'm finished with that place.
