The Summer Transfer Rumour Round-up Thread

I think he will be on a pay off from Fenerbahce as I believe they started the moves to get him off the pay roll. If they pay him a years salary instead of the 2 years on contract means he can drop his wages and be cushioned for the lesser wages he knows he must take no matter where he goes unless it is one of the very big clubs.

Fair point but I think we could also contend that he doesn't need the cushion.

Robin Van Persie linked with shock move to Rangers as bookies slash odds on Dutch star switching to Ibrox

FORMER Manchester United striker is believed to be unhappy at Fenerbahce and Sky Bet make Rangers the favourites to sign the Dutch legend.

BOOKIES have slashed the odds on former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie making a shock switch to Rangers.

The 32-year-old is currently with Fenerbahce but the Dutch legend is desperate to leave Turkey.

The hitman – who played against Celtic last season in the Europa League – was left out of the squad for tonight's Champions League qualifier as his side beat Monaco 2-1 at home.

That fuelled further rumours that he is heading for the exit door after moving to Turkey in July last year following his departure from Man United.

He has been tipped for a return to England but bookies Sky Bet have now slashed the odds on Van Persie ending up in Glasgow.

The striker was 10/1 yesterday to move to Rangers but those odds have now been whittled down to evens with the Ibrox side the clear favourites to sign Van Persie with Stoke next up at 4/1.

Wild rumours on social media have seen a flood of money lumped on the unlikely move forcing the bookies to slash their odds.

However, the striker is on £5million a year in Turkey and still has two years left on his deal and Fenerbahce will be looking for a sizeable fee for the player who cost them around £4m and a return to the cash-rich Premier League in England still looks the most likely outcome for Van Persie.

The odds getting even shorter on Rangers at 4/9 now though as the Record suggests/wishes that could be largely due to all the money being heaped on it due to it hitting social media. Or on the other hand large individual sums being wagered by some in the know I suppose.

This is a story that appeared in a Dutch site on Thursday. It in short says that Barcelona were interested in him as 4th striker and the 10mill euro asking price was no problem but his 5mill yearly wage was. It stated that many English teams had dropped out for the same reason.

Seemingly Fenerbahçe brought out a statement that he won't be leaving.

I will say the site is a bit like the HITC website so not really journalists in the know.
