The Summer Transfer Rumour Round-up Thread

De boer was hugely disappointing for us. He showed us for his third season only.

Seriously? I've got different memories mate to be fair? To even attract a player of that class was an achievement in my opinion

De Boer was light years ahead of what we had at the time. I still remember him pointing where he was going to put the ball to one of our strikers at the time.

Always "interesting" to see how differently people value a player's input or performances. Or what sort of arguments are thrown into the fray, no matter how relevant or - indeed - universally verifyable.

Take Shiels. The lad played 124 games for us, stayed with us in the lower leagues, was used rather eratically by his managers, yet always gave his all (all that a Dean Shiels had to give) and had an admirable goals and assists return during his stay. Yet, people come up with him taking up wages (and honestly, we'll never agree on what a player should get these days and whether he deserves what he actually gets) while doing is job and in the end "being not good enough" because "he did not get another contract". Without actually knowing a) what his salary was and b) what actually made us cut the ties with him.

Then we end up debating Ronad DeBoer's contribution and start counting the trophies we won while he was here. As if it was up to him alone (and not the managers, team-mates and - shock-horror - the opposition at the time that / ) who had a say in results and trophies.

We can do much better than that.

Meanwhile ...

From FF

We are linked with Walsall's Tom Bradshaw on the back of the mail, penny by Stephen McGowan. £750,000 fee mentioned.

He could be the striker rumoured about somewhat earlier in the week ... or the Mail reading that rumour and trying their luck.

Comes down to what they are capable of delivering versus what they actually deliver

shiels for example on his day was a very useful SPL player he very rarely showed that quality for us , indeed his cup final cameo was an embarrassment

De Boer was a world class player - we saw one season of this for us because his knee was like a rotten apple core - how he passed a medical at the time and hartson failed one is still a mystery.
