The draw for the BetFred cup will be made this evening.

It is already the diddy cup as far as I'm concerned and has been that way ever since the winners no longer got the then UEFA cup place.

The term 'Diddy Cup' was brought up long long before the UEFA cup place was taken away.

It was the tim fans who first 'thought up' this description and it was during Rangers dominance in the competition from the early eighty's right up until the UEFA cup place was dropped. The Old Firm generally qualified for Europe without having to win the trophy anyway through their league position.

Timmy had gone something like 15 years without winning it whereas Rangers bagged about 10 of them. That is why the 'Diddy Cup' became the diddy cup, THEY invented it.

I dearly hope to win the next one.

I remember having quite a few conversations with Tims that went along those exact same lines Bearman!

When I was a young lad in the 70's, we started to dominate the competition (more especially the second half of the decade). If you look back at the records, Celtic won 5 LC's IAR in the 60's but in the following 46 years, only won it 8 times whilst in the same 46 years, we have won it 21 times. Celtic reached 8 LC finals in the 70's and lost 7 of them (3 to us).

It's a national trophy and those victories at Hampden are always welcome.

I read online that the fixtures for this Global extravaganza would be out this week?? Still nothing though!! They must be hard at work, the logistical complexities of......The Betfred Cup??

It's probably something to do with the manks tour of Japan.

After what happened last time at Motherwell and the events of the SC final that's a great point re safety. I won't be attending anyway, weather I get a ticket in CCC ballot or not.

I reckon we will prob get 30k plus for home games though, Friday night is a home game as is Monday, will be good to get a look at the team.
