Lol, look at bitter Joe Miller's team :D :D :D

MY squad’s better than your squad is an argument which has raged between Old Firm fans

all summer.

Record Sport opened up the debate by asking a manager, former Rangers and Celtic players and our top team to pick a starting XI from the two clubs who have bolstered their ranks in preparation for the Premiership title.

The Light Blues have added Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar while the Hoops recruited Kolo Toure and Moussa Dembele but do they make the final cut?

Stranraer boss Brian Reid believes it’s far too close to call.

But after his Stranraer side were put the sword at Ibrox on Monday , the Stair Park gaffer would only commit to placing Leigh Griffiths as the first name on the team-sheet.

He said: “It’s different styles, people say to be that Celtic are miles ahead of Rangers and big favourites to win the league and I’d have agreed with that assessment a year ago. Now I don’t believe there is the gulf people think there is.

“I was impressed with Rangers and unless Celtic strengthen then I believe my old club will be there or thereabouts in the title race.

Where are Rangers one year on from Mark Warburton's first game in charge?

“Rangers will try to bring another striker in, if they had that top quality striker, a 40-goal a season player in the way Celtic have with Griffiths then that could be the difference.

“Successful teams always have a pedigree finisher and although Rangers have very good strikers, they don’t have that natural finisher that could be the difference and Mark Warburton will know that. That penalty box predator could be the cherry on top for Rangers.

“It was a long 90 minutes and if Rangers had someone like an Ally McCoist in his prime then it could have been a lot more than three.”

Reid’s touchline view of new Light Blue heroes Barton and Kranjcar may have been a traumatic one but he believes the summer additions have bolstered a side which rely as much on graft as it does on craft.

He said: “They’ve added real quality and experience with Kranjcar and Barton so that’s improved them at a stroke. They also press so high up the park. It’s the old philosophy that attack’s the best form of defence.

“They want to put you on the back foot and get you camped inside your own half. We experienced that on Monday. It was wave after wave of attack, whenever we played the ball out our half it came straight back.

Martyn Waghorn of Rangers celebrates scoring his second goal

“You can see they’ve worked hard this summer and been well drilled.

“You can see why Kranjcar has won so many caps for Croatia, he’s impressive. Barton likes to play simply but he’s a good reader of the game, you can see his experience shining through.”

One player who would also be in Reid’s Old Firm side would be the rejuvenated Barrie McKay.

He said: “McKay is one of the best players around our game at unlocking a match, he can see a pass, take men on and create things. He’s the one with the key, it’s not a direct comparison, but Lionel Messi does that for Barcelona.

“It’s not easy to choose. Lee Wallace and Kieran Tierney are terrific attacking options and I couldn’t pick between them, At right back James Tavernier is a better attacking option than Mikael Lustig but the Swede is the better defender. Picking a side is a nightmare.”

Former Celtic star Joe Miller has dismissed the threat of Rangers this season and not one player makes his starting XI.

He said: “I just don’t believe the hype over Rangers, they aren’t a good side. Celtic are stronger in every department so my team reflects that superiority.”

While Ex-Rangers hitman Gordon Dalziel has also made a few shock inclusions in his side.

He said: “Craig Gordon is an easy choice as is Tavernier. I’d love to have Wallace and Tierney so I’ll use the Celtic kid in a midfield role.

“Rangers have a defensive pair of Danny Wilson and Rob Kiernan and I don’t rate either, for me they’re Championship players, so Eric Sviatchenko and Toure get the nod.

“Martyn Waghorn has to start but I love the look of Jordan Rossiter. Barton is a better player than Scott Brown and in attack Leigh Griffiths and Dembele are the best option.”

Miller is making an arse of himself and if he doesn't know it then he's even dumber than he looks. I will try to give him the benefit of the doubt and suspect he's just a bitter wee timothy rather than THAT stupid.

come on everyone....take off the blue tinted specs. Anyone who saw the last Old Firm Cup match knows Joe's comment to be the truth - Celtic were all over us for the entire game & thoroughly deserved the win, which should have been about 5-0 given how awesome Celtic were. We were the lucky ones to have graced the pitch of such an amazing side.

Wait a minute.....was that not the game that WE won??? The match where we had 63% of the possession & played them off the park. Silly wee Joe, must have been watching the wrong match.....

Nope you're wrong, he actually IS that stupid! It is quite well known that Joe is as thick as two short planks, as folk used to say!

Barrie McKay is worthy of a place in the Scottish national team and is a star who can open up any defence, shame Scottish football,ex players & media can't see it

It was interesting to see that the two pundits who are bears (Jackson & Dalziel) didnt choose McKay for their OF 11. It makes them look more stupid than usual. McKay and Griffiths are the two that should be in all selections, the rest can be argued, although I am struggling to think of another bheast I would select other than Gordon and perhaps Roberts for the other wing from Barrie. I am sure they must have better centre halfs than our two from last season but other than Efe I dont any of them well enough!
