BDO sue Duff & Phelps

Recommended Posts

Yes, it is, BDO, being, as they say in Accountancy circles, "No mugs".

My worry, now, is how to cope with two (2) good news stories in short order.

What's the other one? Should one become excited? Give us a clue FS, FFS ;)

No, but it's good news nonetheless.

But here, FS, we do have decent journalism dealing with facts, not conjecture and hearsay (well, at least as far as I can see). Thus, no FLAK required.

One can guess that this news has wetted HMRC's appetite for the EBT case's money even more, let's hope the Supreme Court denies them.

Snatched from FF ... post 47 by Rangerista

I believe that whatever the outcome of this court case and the others pending, that the local media “experts” will never waver from their position of “Rangers guilty, end of discussion, move along there, nothing to see”. It will take an outsider, someone with no axe to grind, for a forensic analysis and hopefully with an ability to explain things in layman’s language, about what really brought down our club. Even then, he, or she, will find themselves being sucked into the hate filled cesspit that passes for Scottish football governance and so called sporting integrity.

We’re fast approaching the 5th anniversary of one of the worst days in our history and only now, as we labour on the field of play, and are hamstrung off it by the legacy of dodgy and self-serving deals from the ****s who descended on Ibrox, that we can really see the damage that has been done to Scotland’s greatest sporting institution. We need realism and solidarity more than at any time in our history between club and fans. I’m sure we’ll get there, but we should steel ourselves that it may take a few years yet to see the new dawn we all crave for on Edmiston drive.

In the meantime let the wheels of justice continue to turn.

Their appetite for more money is not predicated on this law suit though - it will be determined based on the legal fact, or should be, and pay complete disregard for quantum.

Whitehouse responds.

David Whitehouse, Duff & Phelps managing director, has described the move as disappointing.

He said: "We were surprised to receive notice of proceedings today, one week before expiration of the limitation period, and we are disappointed that this has been leaked to the media.

"In essence, BDO is now alleging that as the former administrators we should have achieved a better return for creditors by selling the clubs assets on a piecemeal basis, including Ibrox and its playing squad.

"This is a strategy with which we fundamentally disagree both in terms of its deliverability and its relevance to achieving the statutory purpose of administration.

"We will be consulting with our legal advisers in order that our position is set out fully before the court. Any further comment at this stage would be inappropriate given that there are now live proceedings."

Criminal charges against Clark and Whitehouse relating to their involvement with Rangers Football Club plc were dropped in June 2016.
