[FT] Hamilton 1 - 4 Rangers (John 21, 25; Candeias 27; Dorrans 59 pen)

Recommended Posts

A fine win after some appalling defending at the start. After that we did very well and got a well deserved win despite a soft red card.

All credit to the players for their reaction to the early goal. Also played well enough when down to ten men. Better from Dorrans tonight. Wes, Candeias and DJ also excellent and Holt useful when he came on. Manager has to be happy with that win. Now we can reset over break.

Final word, the BT coverage is an utter joke. Continually mocking players of both clubs. Very poor throughout. Not good enough.

First minute aside, that was pretty straightfoward.

Will miss Jack during his suspension though

Yep, workmanlike stuff the like we have seen at such grounds for decades. Not pretty, but we get the result.

As for Jack, I think Dorrans was better in his role once Jack was away. Before that, they seemed to get in each others way ... or Dorrans in general not in any sort of position he could do things. Well, apart from laying that ball into Candeias' path. Holt was exactly the type we needed when Jack went off, we might have chosen Nemane intsead of Herrera up front, mainly for his blistering pace.

Hats off to John, Candeias and Foderingham!

To be fair Pena was lucky not to be given a second yellow after arming the ball into the net. Pena still to show he is worth his transfer fee.

Will we hear that every week now? He sure got into the Accies players and levelling Imrie (who is by no means shy of a dirty foul) he set out a marker. Given the pitch I would not exactly fault him for that tackle, the elbow he learned from the Legoeater ...

The one exception was Kevin Thomson, who continually emphasised the good things about Rangers and refused to be talk down by Sutton

Pena lacks mobility. Surely Holt's energy is a better bet in the short to medium term?

Honestly, I could not see a pattern to our play tonight. We have players content to play on the periphery and not take the necessary responsibility.

We need leadership on and off the park.

really strange game and even stranger refereeing

terrible start, then we came back into it

couldn't believe the ref didn't send pena off for the straight leg

we capitalised and turned the screw terrific finish from John and then atrocious keeping had us on easy street

second half starts and pena should have been red carded for a second booking as he palms the ball into the net but gets off

jack immediately then sees red for his second booking

how did the hamilton player stay on the pitch at our pen?

all in all job done against a terrible hamilton side

2 weeks to look forward to with total nonsense filling the void

I thought Dorrans along with Cardoso was poor in the first half Frankie. Cardoso doesnt really deal with people running at him. The Young lad McRorie as his LCH was quite hesitant too he didnt have that gallusness I seen from him in the Thistle and Celtic games that said they both came onto a game later although Cardoso was less assured than he should have been. Both have the weight differential to see those attackers playing on top of them out of the park but they are young so I have to give them some leeway there. Dorrans on the other hand seems to be taking money for jam.
