Declan John signs 3.5yr deal....

I hope this is at the right price.

He has a long way to go before he can be a good enough left back for us.

Is he any worse or better than Wallace?, surely John was a freebie signing?, if he is free then it is a good bit of business for me, however every signing is a gamble!.

I am not so sure it is good business I find 3.5 years far too long for a player who still has to prove himself. I think a 2 year contract was better.

I think he is slightly better than Wallace going forward and a great deal worse than Wallace when defending. I understand that he is young though and could well improve.

He may well be free but I was thinking about his wage when I mentioned his price. I just don't want us to pay a high wage for a left back that has yet to demonstrate that he can defend. I can live with him being a squad player at the right price.

If Wallace was suspended, would he really be allowed in the directors' box during our games?

would depend.

was he with his agent? was it when King was back over?

But yeah he could be in the directors box if called in for talks which coincided with a game.

How often has he been in the directors box over the last 3-4 months?

He's been training with the team though ever since ...

Well, we shall see.

does that not tell us something though. He is meant to be injured, yet can still take part in first team training.

A very long muscle injury, that's if we are still saying its the same stomach muscle injury. Has there actually been any confirmation of his injury or its extent, or any word on his future availability at all?

Did he visit the children's hospital with the squad as captain as is normal?

on a side note i take it the clean shaven rule is now gone too?

Sitting with the players, not his agent. I think he's been in there for the last 5 or 6 games.

To be fair, as opposed to Tav, who had Candeias regularly in front of him (and still requires help from Holt/Jack/McCrorie as he wanders about aimlessly too much), John has virtually been up on his own on the left, since neither Windass, nor Miller nor anyone else there does much defensive work. As I said above, I reckon that he's not being signed up as a leftback or deputy for that role, but more of a left-sided MF or even winger. Thus far, his freedom in this respect has been rather limited due to his defensive duties.
