I would assume that the ITKs, 4LHAD or TRO will clarify the situation soonish. At least whether there are any Turkish officials in Scotland ...

Only if it suits their sources.

One type of player that I think we desperately need is a "dead ball" specialist.  At present we have a couple of guys (mainly Tav or Candeias) who can certainly hit a free kick, but as with many aspects of the team, are inconsistent.  We could do with someone, either trained internally or brought it, that can regularly threaten the opposition from a free kick/corner situation, offering a variety of deliveries with a high degree of accuracy.

If Alves is playing then we already have one.

that might be a big IF.....

I would like to see someone that can offer more than just a direct strike on goal, and that can also be utilised at corners etc.  We certain have players like Tav, Candeias & Alves that have a good shot on them, but sometimes a more subtle, creative touch is required.

I agree. We’re not dangerous enough from set pieces.

Exactly !

Anyone who has read Goram's autobiography will recall when he was on loan at Man Utd.  He was getting ready to get changed after training and Beckham asks him if he has anything on after training - Goram replies that he doesn't and Beckham then asks if he would mind going in goal so Beckham can practice his free kicks.... Beckham then proceeded to hit, I think, between 200-300 free kicks to hone his skills.

The people mentioned in this thread, and I would include Windass in there too - all have it in their locker to be dangerous set piece takers but need to have the desire to be the best at their craft.

Yes, I call it aproppriate levels of or more dedicated professionalism.

If SG is to have a chance of success, it's a fundamental requirement that we begin to better improve what we already have.

There isn't the money to throw at every problem or area that needs improvement.
