[FT] Rangers 1 (Roofe 81') - 0 Aberdeen

It might surprise some but I enjoyed this match.

The first half was not great but the second half was an improvement.

Everybody was too tense until the goal.

One real disappointment was hearing people boo when Morelos was substituted for Roofe.

For weeks Aribo and Kamara have been back to the short-pass, needless pass, back-pass routine in midfield

Not forgetting Borna Barisic, that master of the touchline "receive-stop-turn-backpass" routine. I'm all for retaining possession but there comes a point where at least some effort needs to be expended in the general direction of the opponent's goal.

Agree with Rangersrab about our corner kicks.

Counted 6 out swingers in the first half that we never once looked like scoring from. Second half after Borna was taken off Tav,'s first in swinger from the left had them scambling. Corner should = in swinger all day long.

Thought the roof was gonna lift off all 4 stands when the goal went....brilliant and great seeing most fans stay to the end.

I don't know why we bother with corners at all. We never look like getting anything from them and for the majority we never even challenged for ball. Just for a change I'd like to see us hoofing corner kicks in the opposite direction, into the stands. It would be far less disappointing.

I don't understand why we don't at least try a 3-5-2 in games like this? Lundstrum can play as sweeper and Tav and Bassey can do their best work in their half. I also don't like Kent being stuck on a wing. He's got talent enough to play inside more IMO as opposed to hugging a touchline all day.

--------Macgregor--------

---Goldson-----Balogun---

--------Lundstrum--------

Tav-----------------Bassey

------------Jack------------

----Arfield----------Kent---

-------Roofe----Alfie-------

That leaves a diamond in the midfield and rotating up front options. Our play is so predictable IMO

Couldn't agree more. Most teams seem to favour the short corner option to retain possession. Or at least curl corners in at pace directly at the goalkeeper as opposed to the aimless floaty ball we seem to favour.

Seems to be lack of hunger/desire in the team.  We have the capability but aren't utilising it.

Aribo was our main man prior to AFCON but he's went off the boil and no one else has really stepped up on that front (I'm sure we're all thinking Ramsey could do it, if we can get him fit).

Having said that, I'd take 1-0 victories for the rest of the season.

Tav's set pieces seem to be good in phases.  He's going through a bad phase at the moment, so surely players like Barisic, Aribo and Kent can have a go!?

If someone takes 5 or 6 crap corners on the trot, someone else should get a shot.

For what it's worth i thought Borna had a decent 60mins or so today.
