From the stats that I've seen Danilo played 1,000 minutes fewer than Gimenez. And if you look at the matches it looks like he's playing the last 20-30 minutes of games in the second half of the season.  

 

I'm pretty certain Gimenez is the first-choice striker. 

Stats guy on Twitter, Joost, has Danilo performing at almost exactly the same level as Gimenez. I’ve got a good feeling about Danilo.

It's hard to believe this but who knows? Unless the only impediment to the original deal was the player himself refusing to sign for Rangers and play in Scotland?
