If we have a successful side, people won't give a toss about what terminology club staff use.

Actually, I might but I'm a grumpy git.

I might, but I'm a hipster VL.

That's partly my point - you're (not you specifically) taking the p*ss when you don't know what it is.

The winning culture of the 90s is a club culture.

We can take the p*ss when/if it fails, but I'm not going to dismiss the new board's intention to rid the club of the culture of failure that has been infecting us for the past 15 years.

Playing style is separate from a club culture.

I share the frustration around the lack of new signings. That's got nothing to do with club culture.

If you genuinely think it is just a winning culture and trying to bring in people who absolutely detest losing and love winning and won’t stop working and improving until we are winning everything and get rid of those who can accept that second isn’t too bad then I’ll gladly sign up to that.

But you don’t need to hide behind the word culture in that scenario, just say it plainly - we only want winners coming in and want to drive that ambition and thought through every aspect of the club from pitch to boardroom and all levels in between.

I had guessed the culture reference was more about style of play and tactics but I’d rather buy into your suggestion. In any event it should be fairly clear pretty soon if we can match the talk with the walk.

I get some fans being frustrated by the lack of signing activity but for goodness sakes, can we give the new manager, support structure and owners a little bit of time to get in the building. Much of our potential targets were probably all Kopens, so we need to give Martin/Thellwell/Purdy time.

I am also slightly alarmed by the emphasis from some fans on the CL qualifier versus Panathanikos. Are fans seriously expecting us to have 5/6 new signings all in place and clicking into gear for that game? I fear that game will come way too early for this new set up but it will be the reaction to any potential defeat that will interest me. We cannot let that game derail our season before it has even started. I would genuinely put Europe to one side this season and focus on domestic affairs. As long as the team is bedding in for our first fixture away to Motherwell, I'll be happy.

Patience please. These guys are here for the long term therefor it requires long term thinking. Even from fans.

How much time do they need?

They have been aware of what is coming here since January. Do they need another 6 months?

I can't believe there is so much palaver about a word.

I may be misremembering, but didn't someone from the club say that themselves? That they only wanted players that could deal with the pressure of playing for Rangers, or something like that?

Clubs have always had a club culture. There was a time we didn't sign Catholics. That's was a club culture. What else would you call it?

I think style of play is distinct from club culture, but it does feed into it. Some clubs put a lot of emphasis on the way they play, like Barcelona. That style of play is ingrained in the club culture. I don't think we're wedded to any one style as a club, it's more of just being dominant in a game.

Like I said at the start, I like the aim. Whether they can achieve it or not, time will tell.

The first league fixture is the weekend after the second leg of the CL qualifier.  Is three or four days going to make much difference in terms of how the squad looks and plays - I seriously doubt it.
