Decisions Going Celtics Way

Recommended Posts

Celtic received a penalty for an incident which replays showed was outside the box yesterday - although they did amusingly miss it.

In the new rules, Boyd was definitely not off-side for his goal when supplied by Miller. We were probably the first to be a victim of the loose interpretation of the rule, so I can't see how it can interpreted any differently against us.

I also couldn't make out the "push" which chalked off Boyd's "fourth goal", but the camera angles were poor.

It was somewhat amusing listening to Booth justify why Celtic's 2nd goal should have stood........

That said it didn't impact on the result.

The penalty incident was a very similar instance to when they got a penalty against us at Mechanodome last season and Broadfoot got sent off. The swan dive from McDonald to ensure he lands in the box.

In both instances it wasnt a penalty. Yesterday it WAS a red card though as it was a clear socring opportunity.

Just how inept were Hearts ?

Broadfoot's yellow was a travesty and should have been a stonewall penalty.

Boyd was also flagged off-side when level.

Boyd's first penalty claim looked pretty genuine and rightly given, the second was a strange on that looked like he was tripped by the keeper at one angle but then looked like a dive from another angle. It would have been a strange decision to dive as he had a great chance of scoring if he moved quickly enough.

Disappointed with Butcher on his comments about the penalty. Boyd obviously had his leg swept away and fell heavily as a result - yet Tel said it wasn't a foul. He compounded his strange comments by suggesting that the referee wouldn't have given a foul for the incident if it was outside the box.

Notwithstanding that sweeping someone's leg away should be given as a foul anywhere on the pitch, what kind of referee would give a penalty for something he wouldn't give a foul for outside the box.

He's either talking complete drivel, or is acquiring an anti-Rangers slant - maybe in an attempt to look, "neutral"?
