Rangers have completed the signing of Filip Sebo from Austria Vienna according to the player's official website, filipsebo.com.

 

The 22-year-old striker spent the day at Murray Park finalising the deal after the clubs agreed a £1.8m fee following protracted negotiations.

 

A statement on http://www.filipsebo.com said: "Filip Sebo signed a contract with Glasgow Rangers a few minutes ago."

 

Sebo arrived in Glasgow on Wednesday evening to undergo a medical.

 

The 22-year-old Slovakian, who has won Slovakian and Austrian titles in the past two years, said: "It is something I have been dreaming about and I am hoping my dream will come true. I am very close.

 

"It is hard to express what I am expecting. I take it as it comes. I am full of interesting feelings."

 

The Austrians had been holding out for £2m, while Rangers are believed initially to have offered in the region of £1.2m.

 

Sebo joined Vienna from Artmedia Bratislava last summer and helped the club complete a league and cup double.

 

And Austria Vienna director of sport Peter Stoger believes Sebo has made a mistake in coming to Scotland.

 

"We have advised him to stay with us one more season," he told http://www.fk-austria.at.

 

"I think it would have been his year and that it would have made a positive impact on his development.

 

"Both Boavista and Rangers are big clubs, but it was not the name which counted with either of them, it was the money which they dangled in front of him."

 

Sebo becomes new manager Paul Le Guen`s ninth signing of the summer, joining former team-mate Libor Sionko at Ibrox.
