Murray voices faith in McCoist

It's an irresponsible comment.

1. Murray is looking to sell. What happens if he does sell. Is the buyer commited to having the same understanding or ending up with a pissed-off assistant manager?

2. What happens if there are a number of better candidates when Smith resigns? Are we to ignore them and just go with an untried McCoist?

Murray should have made no comment about who the next manager is going to be.

Not sure about McCoist generally but when one considers he was in charge for the trophies we did win last season, then it may not be the massive mistake some are suggesting...

Yes it's quite ironic this. The team looked incredibly shaky against much lesser teams throughout the cup runs in contrast to the league form, which made McCoist not look so hot as a manager. However, the fact is that he did end up winning both of them...:D
