I won't lie - the schadenfreude is one of the boxes Martin ticks...
-
These new guys are hopless, been in the job 2 days and still don't have a manager. FFS what's he been doing for the last 48hrs? I'm at the stage that I want them to announce RM just for the shits and giggles it'll create.

A building warrant has been granted by Glasgow CC for the erection of flats on a portion of the Albion Car Park. The 160 flats constructed by a developer will see 450 parking spaces retained immediately to the west of the site on land remaining under the ownership of Rangers FC.

So has our new manager been announced yet 🤔 👀 😬
- Today

Thanks. Never used one before. Yes, good article with Martyn's usual logical clarity.

The betting come august will tell him Celtic 2/5 Rangers 5/2 I would suggest you take the 5/2 as soon as possible.

Use a 12ft Ladder...

GPL Predictions Bluebear54's GPL 2024/25: Rangers vs Celtic
Bluedell replied to Rousseau's topic in Rangers Chat
Thanks mate. I'm sure you would have been up there if you'd carried on. -
This is a really good, constructive essay from Martyn. It might not have the red, blue and white ticker tape some fans are throwing around to welcome our new majority shareholders but it's a necessary note of realism and caution amidst the excitement.

£20 million cash injection. Lower costs to the club if we aren't a PLC. Hopefully more professional approach.
-
Don't see that as being the case. They will still need an audit and Leeds Utd accounts appear to be more detailed than ours IIRC.

All this nonsense about possession it doesn’t matter how long you have the ball it’s what you do with it back we were kings we’d play the hooped horrors and it would be the horrors with possession for most of the first half then big slim would get rid of his hangover slip a couple of through balls for our forward players we’d go in two up we’d hardly touched the ball and it would be the same in the second half look at Manchester city no team retains the ball like them but others have now rumbled them result a trophy free season I might be right when I say that in last season’s champions league city were the top passion team but won nowt it’s what you do with the ball that counts fitbaws a simple game played by simple people for simple people.
-
I've yet to hear an upside to this takeover.
-
Reminds me of Mark Warburton, Michael Beale, Gio, Clement. Can't just hold the ball and try play possession football, like Goat said, teams will just let you, they'll be fine with the point. We need to be full guns blazing, rapid, one touch, shots and turning the attack at all opportunities.
-
We will have and have had 50 to 70 % possession in nigh every game in Scotland, but that was in the defensive and middle third of the field. Our problem has been that the final third was under-manned with attackers, and not the least attackers unable to score enough goals. For the best part of a decade. Either you bring in (enough) people to do that, or you change the tactic. Playing three attackers against a brick wall, hoping that DMs/CMs will join up and fullbacks act as wingers is fine, but hasn't worked. At least with the player we had. And we didn't change it, just subbed similar inadequate players with those on the field. If we get Sima for the left attack slot and Cerny for the right, it would be a start. And we would need people behind them in the team that would do nearly as well with the ball.

At this point, I genuinely believe Russell Martin might be the only remaining candidate who’s 100% committed to taking the job. The other names linked all seem to have other options on the table, or are waiting on how other situations play out. I don’t think Martin is/was the board’s first choice and that’s probably why this whole process has dragged on longer than expected.
-
I think that’s right.

Gies a job, like
-
I'm still genuinely unsure who I'd prefer to be the new Rangers manager so I'm unsurprised those responsible for the appointment seem to be equally uncertain. Perhaps this says more about the lack of quality candidates at this late stage than anything else? Meanwhile, the clock is ticking loudly...
-
Teams don’t get tired out watching the ball passed about in front of thrm.
-
This is the best case scenario about his style, if it goes well in theory we control the game overall and can suffocate opponents. It is reliant on us creating lots of quality chances and keeping clean sheets. I'm sceptical but all we can do is wait and see. If they do hire him, they need to back him in the transfer market or he is doomed to failure.

Another red flag. Stevie Naismith done an interview with 4Lads podcast a few weeks back. I've not seen it as its paywalled. But Stevie Clifford mentioned recently that Steven Naismith was talking about how good a coach Russel Martin is and how is style would fit up well in the SPFL.. Naismith is currently on Sky Sports new bigging up Russell Martin
