What is Warburton up to these days? Nothing about Martin seems positive at all, unless you enjoy being on the edge of your seat every single time we get a goal kick.
-
Ahh, woosh. Missed that.
-
Looks like It’s starting to fall into place 😂
-
It was a joke. I copied Gonzo's exact post, switching Martin for Ancelotti, and Warburton for Gerrard. I've outlined my concerns about Ancelotti elsewhere. I fully accept I'm swimming against the tide, re Martin.
-
Eh? Maybe the excitement and positivity for you instantly disappears, but looking online that would be the case for Martin, who seems to have reached Lampardesque levels of negativity among the support. I'm not sure how you equate Gerrard (a manager) to Ancelotti (a coach). I presume that the Gerrard model is not what the new owners want and that's why he is no longer under consideration. Going for Ancelotti is totally moving away from the Gerrard model.

From club website. RANGERS will be well represented across a number of Scottish football committees and working groups during the 2025/26 season, with several members of the club’s leadership team contributing to key areas of the game’s governance and development. Fraser Thornton, Board Director, has been named to the SPFL Remuneration and Appointments Committee, where he will support decisions around executive appointments and compensation policy across the SPFL. James Taylor, Rangers’ Chief Finance Officer, has been appointed to the SPFL Audit Committee, where he will support the oversight of financial governance of the league. Sporting Director Kevin Thelwell will contribute to two important areas, having been appointed to both the Compensation Tribunal Working Group and the SPFL Competitions Working Group, which is responsible for reviewing the competitive structure of the SPFL. Donald Gillies, Rangers’ Managing Director of Women’s and Girls’ Football, has been appointed as an SPFL representative to the Scottish FA Congress for a two-year term, contributing to the strategic discussions relating to the national association. Gillies also remains on the board of the SWPL. Head of Safety, Security & Resilience, Darren Faulds will represent the club on the SPFL Policing Working Group, alongside other clubs and authorities on matchday safety and public order matters. Rangers’ Company Secretary & Legal Director, Graham Horsman, will take on a broad remit with appointments to three separate groups: the SPFL Rules and Regulations Review Working Group, the Scottish FA Rules Revision Group, and the JPP (Judicial Panel Protocol) Working Group. These bodies are tasked with advising on the regulatory framework that underpins professional football in Scotland. Chief Communications & Marketing Officer Greig Mailer will represent Rangers on the Scottish Football Marketing Commercial Advisory Board, helping to shape the marketing strategy for the game alongside peers from across the league. Meanwhile, Patrick Stewart will stand for election onto the board of the SPFL on 24 June. Stewart commented: "Rangers is committed to being a force for good in Scottish football. These appointments and nomination collectively demonstrate the club’s determination to play a full and constructive part in Scottish football’s decision-making and to ensure that Rangers’ voice is heard on matters of importance.

I got my EGM notification in the post this morning.

.....and in the Europa, and in the Conference, and all in the one season. A record, in fact. Perhaps one that Russell Martin could aspire to equalling.

Nils Koppen to leave Rangers
Sutton_blows_goats replied to Sutton_blows_goats's topic in Rangers Chat
Yes, I heard the same H&H podcast and the points you made were a good argument against Koppen, or rather, his ability to do the role. They also said his negotiating skills were, with hindsight not very strong. I think both can be true, with regards the old pals act BD. If it works its the first option. If it fails, its the old pals act and will be expensive to remove them all. -
I understand that Thelwell was brought in when Everton were under severe PSR restrictions and he helped navigate them through it. I believe the overspending that resulted in the points deduction was pre-Thelwell.
-
Fucked in the CL.
-
Listening to a H&H pod on this, and they made the point that while there have been some successes, there were failures too, not just in the players but the way that we approached things, trying for a couple of months to get a player from Spain, who had no intention of moving outside Spain, and having to resort to last minute signings. His failure in moving players on for decent cash was also highlighted. Is it old pals act, or getting someone in who you have first hand experience of and know can do the job, rather than the risk of getting in an unknown?
-
Get rasellik fucked in Europe?

I know, but I wanted to use your full quote. To be fair, that's my main issue with Ancelotti. I don't know how we'll play, or even if he can implement a style of play. He does have some interesting ideas around the structure of the coaching staff, etc. I wouldn't be disappointed, but the unknown is a concern of mine. I mean, everyone knows what Ange and Rodgers do, too... (CC @Uilleam)

How very Rangers Compo, talking about sacking the manager before we even know who it is! 😆
-
I’ve got a mate who supports Southampton and messaged me the other night saying pretty much the same thing, that Russell Martin was never a particularly popular manager, even before they got promoted. He confirmed the whole "if plan A doesn’t work, do plan A better" mentality and also said Martin had a habit of blaming everyone except himself when things went sideways Couple of direct quotes from him: “He is so horribly smug.” “Even in the Championship we got hammered by anyone decent. Got promoted with something like the 7th worst defence in the league.” “He’s never improved a team or finished above expectations.” Unforunately, he made no comment on this.....
-
Whoever gets the post we all know that after a few bad results the majority on here will be clamouring for his removal in fact we should open a book to see when he gets sacked

We don't know what Ancelotti -and, importantly his coaches, fitness, medics, etc.- will bring as head coach to Rangers. Therefore, we can't assume that he would be 'Gerrard Mark II', can we? We do know what Russell Martin will give us, and if that is what the new owners want, then God help us. "Ah've goat an offer tae go tae The Rangers. The block in charge is Russell Martin. (Ah know! A hipster, wi' nae Plan B.) His burd's goat a crackin' perr, but."

McCoist?! The golden boot?! This thread is about the impending departure of Dessers.
-
Well we can look forward to having a team that will make sure they finish mid-table if Everton are anything to go by🙄
-
Feels like there is a word to describe his posts.
-
Another reason to despise the fellow.

Heard on the 4Lads podcast the other night, Steve Clifford was saying Russel Martins Southampton team, the year they won promotion to the EPL finished 4th. Got in via a good playoff run. Conceded a lot of goals, didn't defend well. Saints fans had said there were games they were needing a late goal with minutes to go and the team were passing the ball about at the back. On the plus side his girlfriend has massive boobs.
-
Best of luck Nils. Once a Ranger always a Ranger. A shame he had to move on without even a chance to say goodbye to the fans.

Tactically, we have no idea how Ancelotti will set up, so that statement is rather unfounded. We know exactly what tactics Martin employs, as will every other manager in the division.
