  1. Past hour
  2. Summary of Martins management style from the rangers review interview with the Southampton journo: Dreadful at attacking and defending set pieces Cant organise a defence His teams don't create a lot of good chances Opposition score from 25-30 yards often Doesnt know how to build a team even with transfer funds available Loves playing out from the back to beat the high press (how many times does it need pointed out, we rarely face a high press?) Gets snarky with journos (cant handle pressure) This is like one of those films that gets released, and its a bit rubbish. The a few years later they decide to remake it and its even worse. Rangers 2025.
  3. By that logic Russell Martin is more qualified than Walter Smith. And if you stand on that belief, we canny be pals. Soz
  4. Of course, I'm just finding some of the opinions contradictory. I'm also not sure coaching Real Madrid players is the best preparation for setting out a team to play Livi away in November. I've no clue if Martin will be a success or not, I'm just surprised at how much negativity it's generated.
  5. It's quite a run of the mill, underwhelming appointment that we've grown accustomed to at Rangers. Let's go get the man that got the worst ever points record in the Premier League, and clearly has no plan b. Sod the fans that wanted something vastly different, and sod Ancelotti's kid too, wee fanny isn't his dad.
  6. More than Ancelotti...
  7. Can you explain what he's done at these clubs to validate his becoming Rangers manager?
  8. We can still have our opinions, and it's good to an extent that they're not allowing themselves to be swayed by the support in the same way as the previous board were (Lampard). It's still a bit of a downer though when we've gone from someone coaching Bellingham and Vini to someone coaching Jan Bednarek and Kamaldeen Sulemana.
  9. No I didn't! Just kite flying if anything went wrong.😅
  10. Rumours going about Naismith will be his assistant
  11. YOU WANTED DAVID HEALY!!
  12. Wait till he appoints Mo Ross as his assistant!
  13. What happened to it? The mask slipped.
  14. Yes, after being told that Ancelotti was 99% a shoe-in for the job it is depressing. He would have attracted some big names.
  15. The reaction to his (apparent) appointment is bizarre. What happened to all that 'trust the process', 'long term plans' and 'proper sports businessmen in charge' stuff everyone's spouting on the ownership thread? Martin is a former player, a former internationalist who has managed 250 or so matches at different clubs, importantly these clubs operate at a similar level to ourselves in terms of the players they can attract and wages they'll pay. I mean you'd think we'd appointed Peter Grant with Iona Fyfe as his assistant the way some of you are reacting.

  17. This is the problem with hiring people emersed in the EPL world and English football in general. The likes or Therwell and Purdy will look down south as the be all and end all of football. No doubt the rumours about spending a fortune on wages for the likes of Vardy and other EPL has beans is a glimpse into our future. Talk about a false dawn. See you all for the new manager thread in October.
  18. Pretty much what Cammy says, if he's the guy of the 3 that actually wants the feckin job, then so be it. I take heart from the Leeds poster on twatter who said all that stuff about the board not doing what the fans want, but go with it, as they know their stuff. If they went for what our fans want it would be a series of uninspiring 'Rangers men'.
  19. Jesus weinte ...
  20. Martin was the candidate who impressed the most during the initial interview process, and if rumours are true, the only one who accepted a 2nd interview. Gerrard pulled out the race after initial interview (TV role and pressure from family) and Ancalotti informed the club he is no longer interested yesterday. Not who I'd have liked, bit it shows the new board aren't afraid of making "unpopular" decisions if they believe they are correct (the complete opposite from previous boards). I'll awit officially confirmation, but it looks like Martin is our next manager. Good luck Russell, looks like you're gonna need it.
  21. Heavily linked with Rangers, former Real Madrid assistant Davide Ancelotti is a "hot contender" to take over at Swiss champions Basel. (Blick - in German) Rangers face a battle to land Brazilian midfielder Metinho as Basel say they want to keep the 22-year-old permanently after his loan from Troyes. (Scottish Sun) Troyes would want £5m to part with Rangers midfield target Metinho. (Daily Record) Everton are just one of six Premier League clubs keen on Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande, but the Ibrox club are in no rush to sell the 23-year-old and would demand a substantial fee. (TeamTalk) Jamie Vardy is weighing up a move to Rangers as the 38-year-old striker's contract runs out with relegated Leicester City. (Daily Mail, print edition) Former Rangers chairman Dave King has revealed the Ibrox club almost had Saudi owners before the US consortium's takeover. (Sky Sports) ... meanwhile, Mr. Shankland is now a freebie. 😎
  22. One of the downsides is that Ancelotti may have given us access to a lot of players that other candidates wouldn't have. I have to wonder if the new owners delayed the decision too long allowing someone else (Basle?) to come in and entice him away.
  23. Disappointing. It appears that Ancelotti turned us down so we've ended up going for Martin. I'm sure those who made the decision to go for him know a lot more about it than I do, and I hope that they've made the right decision. What I would say is that this is the most depressed I've felt about a Rangers manager appointment in the last 50 years.
  24. Agree with the second part totally. But I thought he claimed RFC released him because he married a catholic? Was that a lie? I just recall him as an average cf.
  25. Can we just bring Murty back instead pls.
