The Rangers Summer 2025 Transfer Rumours and Deals - Thread

Yep, I know. I was solely replying to the UEFA "guidelines". IMHO, injuries to our big buys and important players hampered us quite a lot these last couple of seasons. Danilo, Cortes, Sterling, Kasanwirjo, Balogun et al. There was de facto no strength in depth and hence I, for one, are not averse to grabbing the odd player with a solid Scottish record and decent physique, like we did in the last 4 decades. If we lose Igamane and Dessers, we'd be mad not to grab Shankland on a free. He will sure see us through many a soggy encounter at Dens or Fir Park on a soggy night in December or February. And we could still spill 8m on some fancy foreign footworker who, given our luck, break is little toe and miss 3 months. -

Round-up ... Rangers have opened talks to sign Peterborough United defender Emmanuel Fernandez, 23. (Football Insider) ... he's got a contract till 2027. Lille want Rangers forward Hamza Igamane, 22, to replace Jonathan David. (Sacha Tavolieri on X) Round down ... Meanwhile, Hibs have agreed to sign free agent Josh Mulligan, the 22-year-old midfielder most recently at Dundee, with a medical imminent. (Fabrizio Romano on X) We probably have to wait on some transfers till June 30, e.g. Poku, Shankland (😱) etc. -

Do keep in mind that we can add our B-team boys to the first team UEFA list at our leisure, IIRC. -

He was like a kid out on the training pitch with his dad. He loved a keepy uppy and a nutmeg. -

If Hamza goes, I hope we get some other player in who can do keepy-uppies and nutmegs as well as he could. Call me shallow if you like. -

We'll need the money because I don't think the new consortium are allocating as much of the 20M sterling to the transfer budget as many would like to think. - Today

Unless you assume they are going to dump Europe and go all out for the league. High risk strategy. -

You need a minimum of 8(usually 4 & 4) to register a full European squad of 25. If we assume we have 3 nation trained in Soutter, Barron & Cameron. We need 5 club trained players. Then you have to assume the likes of King, Rice, Curtis will be registered. Lots of noise around McCausland leaving so we may lose 1. Will be interesting to see how the recruitment team solve this problem over the next few weeks, by recruiting players from England. PS - I used AI to help me with the formatting, the details within were C&P'd from the OP, and the club trained / nation trained info came from me. So any inaccuracies are my bad.

Be ashame losing Igamane, but he's not even really played many games and we can already see he's going to be some pler. Right to cash in if we're getting money like that -

We can't afford to pass up £15m - if that's the fee. That's financial suicide. -

It's always been that way. Clubs have 'tapped up' players forever. Sometimes it was done through another player who knew them, often done through the agent. Checking a player wants to join you and checking what they expect to earn before making a bid is fairly normal, if technically against the rules. When Bill Struth wanted to sign Sam English, who was playing for Yoker at the time, he approached his foreman in the shipyard he worked in and arranged for English's salary to be increased on the quiet on the understanding he would receive the higher wage as long as he didn't sign for anyone else before Rangers were ready to sign him. For supporters professional football is about love, passion, habit, skill, belonging, entertainment and friendship. For everyone else it's about money and always has been. -

Well we certainly cannot afford to lose both Igamane and Dessers when we still have Danilo on the books. That would be suicide on the playing field. -

Anything with 8 digits for Igamane after any sell on percentage clause should be grabbed! It would go down as one of the best bits of business we have done. What did he sign for - about 1.7m with add ons? -

Yeah, it seems like that’s the tactics of most clubs when dealing with recruiting and not paying fees . Tbh I think that sort of Shit needs to be stopped. We only need to look at the handful of players that left us for free or others for that matter only to secure a better contract if they left for free, Yes it’s the players decision but if they sign a 5 year contract and don’t decide to renew after a certain point then surely the old club has a right to put that player up for transfer to gain financial gain in order to support the club in finding a replacement. Sure we will be getting something for Hamza and Raskin if they leave but what of others in the future who get there heads turned for double there original salary. Interested to know what others think should players be allowed to let their contract run down and leave for free without gaining any profit? -

Is this how transfers work these days, agree terms with the player and then begin negotiating with the club? It seems to be common practice. £15m for Hamza please.
