Perhaps, in this instance, because they have lost one of their players who might have helped them against Rangers.....

As was said, this isn't true. He has "only" 3 active bookings and is "far away" from a further ban. Tom admitted his mistake the following day. -
Barcelona have just signed their striker, Trincao, for 26 million.

Aye, but where was Borna Barisic ? #PedanticLoyal

I'm sure we BOTH hope I am right

I read recently that it was somewhere in the region of 20k a week he was on - unbelievable if true. -
No he didn't, the keeper saved it

Well except for the managers who say "every player has a price" Given Morelos played, given Defoe is injured, given the manager has said he isn't for sale and given the Chairman has said he isn't for sale...…. I think I will go with what seems fairly decent corrobatory evidence than your hunch, which was originally based on the fact he wasn't playing.... yet still played

Its all pointless discussing it now - he went to Dundee Utd and got a pretty hefty wedge for doing so. At the 3 million quoted I think we should be looking at better. But the common theme in the transfer market this window has been the dearth of strikers available - why is it US that loses one of only two recognized strikers to injury - why couldn't it have been Edouard ? -
Her, yes Kenny Miller, not so much

Might need to bring in one plus that striker then, rather than the couple he was looking at -

I'm still not sure how we can say Polster is a better defender after about 2 full games of minutes, where most of those are against weaker opposition - baffles me. What I will say is that Polster's delivery from wide, if given a consistent run, has the potential to be very, very effective. I think his delivery is better than Tavernier's - but Tavernier scares opposition defenders more than Polster does, which keeps them more "honest". If Polster got a run in the team and started delivering "Barisic-type crosses" - how long before he gets closed down much higher up the pitch and starts to look more ordinary ? He hasn't been tested, opposition barely know him - he has the element of surprise currently. Again, not crapping on Polster as I like him and am glad he won't be going out on loan - far better player than Flanagan - and I actually think he is a capable squad player - wouldn't mind seeing him get some minutes in midfield too, to see what he can do.
-
Where did anyone say Tavernier was world class ? Nobody did, that's just silly. What IS being said is that this Rangers team performs poorer when he is out of the team than when he is in it. Polster has done it for the grand sum of 135 minutes in a Rangers jersey - well done him, with 90 minutes of those against a team who posed virtually zero attacking threat. Meanwhile, Tavernier has done it against all of our main rivals as well as on the European stage, over a number of years. I am not crapping on Polster because, as I said on the weekend, I think he has leapfrogged both Flanagan AND Patterson to be Tav's understudy - but I'm not going to sit here and listen to people re-write Tavernier's history negatively, whilst talking up Polster's after about 2 full games worth of minutes, most of which against weaker opposition where he hasn't been overly tested.
-
Not sure why given he played tonight. Why be suspicious rather than give the manager, one of a dying breed, who gives honest interviews, the benefit of the doubt with what he says ?
-
No chance. Not in this window.

I felt we needed another striker anyway. Defoe’s injury guarantees we need to make something happen now
-
Disagree. When Tav doesn’t play teams double and treble up on the left hand side but leave the right hand side open. Polster played well but he was under little pressure. If Tavernier is in there, no way do County give that much space, which then stretches them on both sides. JFK is sport on in my opinion. It’s a sign of what we miss without Tavernier

And then those fucking arseholes (I'm not apologizing for the tone either) such as Sutton, Hartson and Michael Stewart will sit on their high horse and say this shouldn't happen. Those same cretins who effectively encourage it with their racist, xenophobic bile on a constant basis.

True, but do we really need to risk Morelos if he has a calf strain at home to Ross County ? We will be in more need of a fully fit Morelos against Aberdeen and Hibs.....
-
He also occupies BOTH centre halves by himself, which effectively makes him almost like an extra player on the pitch

I said it at the time and I believe it now..... timing is everything. The winter break was perfect for Celtic as they could go away, recharge batteries and forget that defeat. For us, the opposite is true. We won, on a high, playing well, looking sharp - go away and instead of recharging batteries almost rest on laurels..... despite the warnings from Gerrard about last year. Also can't be forgotten that Hearts actually did well on the weekend, they played a high press which hadn't been expected.

Personally don't think that makes a blind bit of difference because McGregor is giving them pelters with or without an armband.
