  1. The kindle versions of "The Gallant Pioneers" and "Temple of Dreams", among others are on sale at Amazon at only £2.87. Great bargains!
  2. I'd say that wallace was even worse at getting caught out of position. Opinions, eh?
  3. I can't get too excited by Wallace's (or anyone else's) performance against Motherwell. They were rank rotten, sat back and put no pressure on us. he won't have the same time or space in 90% of our other games. Papac looks far safer at left back than Wallace.
  4. How can there be no concerns over cashflow but the manager is not allowed to use all cash generated from player sales? It's crazy that HMRC are allowing their negotiation policy to be dictated by the media and a few statements by MPs. This could result in lower cash being collected and cost the tax-payer more. It's unhelpful to say that the accounts are unaudited. It gives the wrong impression. They have been audited. They have just not been signed off by the audit partner yet. How long does it take to get a legal opinion and why can get they one this month or next month that they couldn't get during the last couple of months? The accounts are now officially late. If they are going to be submitted next month as is implied then there is a fine of £1,500, which will increase if delayed further. Failure to file accounts is a criminal offence and can result in the directors being taken to court.
  5. Thanks for the reply, BH, and Happy New Year, mate! Looks like I'm in good company. I disagree with that. Questions that can have agree or disagree can still be leading. The fact that people agree or disagree again doesn't make them not leading. Sounds like getting a high response rate is more important than getting a lower but more accurate one. What's the point of a lot of responses if they don't fully understand the question. For example, I'm not 100% sure if we currently have a pyramid system at the moment (within the terms of the question). No it doesn't suggest that. People can answer questions that they don't fully understand.
  6. Andy Kerr was there.
  7. Representatives of the Rangers Fans Working Group met yesterday with Campbell Corrigan, the Assistant Chief Constable, plus a couple of his colleagues as well as David Brand and Dougie Stevenson from the FoCUS unit. The meeting, which lasted for 2 hours, involved some frank and open discussions regarding what FoCUS is trying to do, what the Police in general are trying to achieve with football fans, and potential areas to look out for to ensure our fans are not in danger of arrest and prosecution under the new law. The main points of the meeting were as follows; The police continue to refuse to produce a list of banned songs, but during training and meetings with forces around the country, they advise the home match commander and police on duty what songs to be aware of. FoCUS go to games through a mixture of them choosing matches after viewing the fixture list, and by being invited by the match commander. This will normally be intelligence led. There are 15 Full time FoCUS officers and can cover 6 matches at the same time. They hope to be at 6 matches on January 2. For the first half of the season, there was a lot of filming using the hand held cameras to gather evidence of good and bad behaviour at football matches. As this part of the work has been completed, cameras are now only deployed to a particular incident during a match. Footage obtained through FoCUS cameras are held for 30 days and then deleted unless there are reasons to retain it, for example where offences have been committed. When asked if FoCUS would publicise a list of matches attended on their website, we were told they had not thought about it but would look into it for the end of the season. They were keen to declare that they are not solely interested in Rangers and Celtic games, and that the most problematic areas trhey have encountered have been, amongst others, the Ross County v Partick Thistle match, with a group of Dundee casuals, a group of young Ayr fans, and even at a junior match in Ayrshire. The police are happy to keep in constant contact with fans groups to discuss and advise on offensive songs. They stated they were happy with our previously published list of songs and chants we have previously advised Rangers fans to steer clear of. FoCUS have now ordered new bibs saying FoCUS rather than the current anti-sectarian police unit. The police will discuss fixtures for 2012-13 with the SPL before they are finalised this summer. They will again push for 1 midweek OF fixture and they were disappointed that they only midweek fixture offered by SPL was the December one. There were 12 arrests at the recent OF game, of which only 1 was for Sectarian Breach of the Peace. There were only 2 arrests at the recent St Mirren match, 1 for a smoke canister and 1 for being drunk. These are fairly typical figures for Rangers matches. Police were happy with current trends of policing at football, with police numbers at football down 30% in the last 2 years, which they hope continues in the future. CC stated that he advised the Celtic trust that up the ra would lead to arrests and prosecution in answer to a direct question about it, and that it was not an exclusive list. The police are looking to develop links with fans groups to assist in the training of officers, and to observe such training when it occurs. There was 120 litres of alcohol seized by police during bus checks at OF game. More info to follow on this.
  8. I don't see Jelavic in any of the Willie Vass pictues. Ally constantly on the phone. Is that good or bad?
  9. That's not for you to prejudge. It goes back to my earlier unaddressed point that the questions were set by those with an agenda. The survey just sets out a bland question without putting any context on the figures. Everyone wants more for their club Do fans actually know how much their club gets and how much their club generates of the overall pie? For example, question 6 is loaded. You could ask "do you think that clubs should get cash based on the amount that they generate basded on the levelof interest in the club and you may get a different answer. Question 7 is also loaded. There is also a follow-up (question 3) on making the leagues bigger but no follow up on the status quo or making the league smaller.
  10. So to avoid that they'd allow the debt to be moved to where they had much less security? I doubt that. If the decision is being made at a fairly low level then the people involved are only concerned about getting the cash back as that's what they get measured on and are much less concerned about public image. The guys at the top may have been concerned about public image (but I doubt it worried them too much) but even if they were, is it worth putting £18m at risk? This line of thinking just doesn't make sense to me, but I guess all will be revealed when TRFCGL submit their accounts.
  11. The bank would have been a secured creditor and HMRC wouldn't, so not sure how you come to that conclusion.
  12. We couldn't afford the £1m this year. They knew that there was a big exposure there and wanted out.
  13. Where is the option to give the OF more money?
  14. What's LBG's commercial incentive?
  15. LBG wanted their cash, not to switch it to a less secure company not in the company eye. Their motivation was not just to move it to a company whose only asset is the shares in a company that may become worthless. They had more security when the debt was with the club.
  16. The whole takeover was structured so that LBG wouldn't be owed the cash anymore. I doubt that LBG just allowed the debt transferred from Rangers to its holding company.
  17. We play away at Parkhead and both teams score a goal, but ours was disallowed. One of many decisions that have helped Celtic claw back the 15 point lead, including winning their 2 games in hand. Disgraceful? A bit harsh.
  18. Newspaper speculation only. Has that been confirmed by a reputable source?
  19. Most of it isn't new. A few quesions though. Why would HMRC get paid if it was seen as tax evasion? Why would Whyte get the ground and Murray park if he is only owed £18m? Surely they are worth more than that? If they are worth more than that then why wouldn't the taxman get something? Who is going to buy the club for more than £18m?
  20. I'm guess that there were, given Salmond's new Act.
  21. Good Morning Assistant Chief Constable Campbell Corrigan asked that I make contact with various supporters groups in advance of the Celtic v Rangers fixture on Wednesday 28 December 2011. He would like to reassure supporters that the policing response for this fixture will be exactly what it has been at previous fixtures. Strathclyde Police will be in attendance to work with the club, stewarding provider and supporters to ensure a safe and pleasurable environment for all. This game will be treated like any other routine Old Firm fixture. While some police officers will be present with hand held camera equipment, they will not be deployed unless there is an incident which necessitates their deployment and only on the instruction of the Match Commander. May I wish you a Merry Christmas and an enjoyable and safe match. Kind RegardsSimon WrightInspector Service Delivery Unit (Executive Support)Territorial Policing FHQ,Pitt Street
  22. Just a bit. The big man wasn't attacked.
  23. So if it had happened in Strathclyde, under Scots law, would you have arrested him?
  24. Can't blame the keeper. he was attacked and it's a naturla reation to defend yourself. After that the adrenaline kicks in. I also don't blame the manager for getting his team out of there. His player wan't protected and then ends up getting sent off becaiuse an opposition fan attacks him. Zappa, he should have walked away? Did he know if the guy was going to get up again? What would you have done in that situation?
  25. He has to be judged by English speaking standards. He can't get away with something that another player would get hammered for, just because he comes from South America. I heard someone on the radio saying that Liverpool were mostly to blame as they had not explained the cultiural differences to Suarez, and I tend to agree with it.
