  1. Compensatory control is fascinating in it's power and effect. I have watched every game this season wearing the same Gers T shirt and Sweatshirt. I steadfastly refused to launder these during that 26 match winning streak! Luckily I watch alone, so do not have to worry about my odour ridden ware impacting on other family members. Both items were unceremoniously dumped in laundry basket at the sound of full time whistle on Wednesday evening. Now the dilemma. I cannot wear these again freshly laundered. Bad juju! I know I have new Gers Sweatshirt to wear for Xmas, but we have to games before then. Possible solution? Watch the next two games in the nude. ? Thanks to @JohnMc for a great match preview!
  2. As a new member, just like to echo the thought of others on the thread by thanking @Frankie and the team for a great site and forum. I will never be the most prolific of posters, but I do enjoy reading the posts and views of others. The GPL, MoM polls etc are excellent as well. I also think it is moderated to a very high standard, which I know from personal experience of another site, it not always the case! Keep up the great work and seasons greetings to all!
  3. Our toughest away challenge since Hibs and Kilmarnock! We really need to up this. They are a threat when they do get forward. Use of our subs may be vital. The should begin to run out of steam, given the amount of effort they are putting in. C'mon Rangers!
  4. Thank you, another great post! After watching our game on Thursday on BT, I decided to watch another EL group humiliation from our near neighbours. Although it did not quite turn out that way, the fawning and toadying of the 2 co-commentators Craigan & Stubbs trawled the depths of desperation. Stubbs in particular spent the whole 90 mins referring to him as Neil (no surname). Every comment needed to include the word "Neil". Every panned shot to the Sellick bench showed him huddled closely with his backroom staff. Is this a new show of solidarity for LBT? "You'll never walk alone?" Across 110th Street was also used later by Tarantino in the film "Jackie Brown". A great song. Wonder what the PQ Tarantino spin would be if we achieve 55? INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS?
  5. Interesting Press Conference. Unusual for our manager to give much away but clearly there will be a number of changes for tomorrow's game. Zungu is a starter. Be interested in others views on what other changes there they may be? My thoughts are, could be starts for McLaughlin, Bassey, Hagi, Barker and Itten? Could he also be thinking of young Patterson at right full back? ?
  6. Unfortunately, we are getting towards the time each season where speculation is rife with transfer window opening next month. I was sent a link this morning from the Newcastle Chronicle from a United fan stating they are taking a look at Kamara. No doubt there will be other players in our squad being targeted as well given we are in such a rich vein of form. I just hope we hold firm until the summer at least. The only exception could be Morelos, if the price set is met, of course.?
  7. Is this not the club that repeatedly tell us they have the best fans in the world? One game short of winning everything domestically for the past 4 seasons and this is how they react to being turfed out of 2 cups in a week! I cannot remember as much vitriol when we were unjustly demoted to the bottom tier in 2012. They truly are the scum of the earth!
  8. Very close call between Arfield & Tavernier. Arfield just edges it for me! Overall a great team performance but.....did Balagun give anybody else the jitters on a couple of occasions? ? Or was it just me??
  9. Another fantastic performance Rangers. Aberdeen could not live with our quick passing and movement, and were run ragged all afternoon. It could have been 4 or 5 by H-T alone. We made great use of our subs, second half and if it was not for over playing at times, the score could have been a lot more. Great team display, be a hard decision for MoM again!
  10. Great team performance. The player who captivated me as the game unfolded was Roofe. I had no real understanding of how good he is before he joined. Due to his fitness issues, we have seen cameos of what he can bring to our side (scoring from inside his own half for instance) but yesterday brought a rare opportunity to see him for full 90 mins. I now understand how Gerrard was keen to get him onboard. He brings so many different dimensions to our play. He can play right across the front 3, play as a number 10, his goal ratio is good, but also offer assists, he can hold play up and he is superb in the air for a player of average height. As well as those attributes he looks like he has a steely self determination to win a starting place and do well in this Rangers team. Considering he is still not fully match fit, I thought it was a fine display. He gets my vote.
  11. Fantastic post from Fat Eck! Sums up eloquently how I feel. It's taken me a full 24 hours to begin to come to terms with that result. I have been unable to face any sort of analysis before then. Having read through 21 pages of the thread, I still feel we threw away such a marvellous opportunity to beat a team of that calibre in their midden, albeit with 10 men! In GPL, I predicted a (hopeful) draw, but the manner we threw it away still grates. We should be 1 point away from qualification from 3 remaining games. As it is, Benfica will have a huge wake up from that game, I expect a stiffer test at the return at Ibrox, and we have a difficult trip to Poland to negotiate as well. Not saying it's not achievable, just the journey could have been a helluva lot smoother. I will never understand, with the quality of our bench, why we did not deploy the other 4 subs to stifle the opposition and see the game out. After all, we did it against Killie, why not Benfica?
  12. Davis for me. A performance in midfield the great Pirlo would have been proud of!
  13. Yes, a defender for me as well. Goldson gets my vote!
  14. I agree. Gerrard has been criticised for his timing / lack of subs in the past. Both subs today raised eyebrows to many. The first Davis for Aribo (66min), replaced our most forward thinking midfielder for a more defensive one. The second, Balagon for Morelos (86min) was a clear counter to them pushing Broadfoot upfront. I cannot remember Gerrard ever making 2 blatantly defensive substitutions before in a domestic match. To me, it shows he has much more confidence in our defensive unit this season, and coupled with surface, conditions and "one trick" opposition, that this Rangers could see it out. Big benefits are Kamara, Roofe and Hagi are rested up for Thursday. Aribo gets 66 mins of game time as well!
