  1. Tragic. I'd forgotten he played for us. Was that during our period away from top flight?
  2. As with nearly everyone else, the 2 main candidates were Kamara & Barasic. However, I would make mention of our 2 CB's Goldson & Balagon. Without their contribution the result may have been in question! Barasic's delivery for the goal was a thing of beauty and his forward play and crossing excelled but he was caught out of position several times defensively. I go for Kamara, he was the one midfielder who kept possession and drove forward more in second half. A great midfield display.
  3. Aye. Suck that one up Kheredine!
  4. Does that mean they cannot afford to get rid of TLB then? Also, their transfer spending was over £20m? Which clearly does not include the latest "best transfer dealings in 10 years" acquisitions ( I use that term loosely! ) There is also the rumoured issue of reserving rights to season ticket holders for live games at Stadde de Gadde? Must be losing a few bob from that brainwave! Then to cap it all there is likelihood of litigation pay outs to the alleged victims from CBC. ? Love to hear thoughts of any GersNet members with accountancy backgrounds!
  5. As non season ticket holder, I've been purchasing the games but refrained today as I was decorating.? So I settled on audio coverage with Tom Miller while deploying said paintbrush. All went fine until half time when Tom announced us audio listeners would hear an exclusive 14 min interview with legend Stuart McCall. After 3 mins of white noise, we pick up on heavily accented voice that sounds nothing like wee Stu's Yorkshire brogue. Turns out to be Ronald de Boer. ? When we return to the game, we have simultaneous commentary from Tyldsley and Miller! ? When they finally sort that out, Tom hopes we enjoyed the HT interview exclusive but makes no mention of fact it was fact De Boer or that we had missed part of it!? Let's hope they sort out their audio gremlins for Thursday for those that can't see it live on BT.???
  6. I gave this a listen shortly after launch, but was disappointed with anchor presenter Rob McLean (who I had mistaken for Richard Gordon!) It just seems Scottish media is riddled with same old PQ / Clyde Rangers haters. I am no lover of Paul Cooney either! It does seem as if Barry Ferguson has moved away from PQ, and I see is guest analyst alongside Neil McCann on RTV tomorrow. Perhaps I need to give Go another listen. I just cannot stomach PQ, but do like to keep up with their blatant hatred of all things Rangers via this thread!
  7. Just wondering? Would it be possible to listen to Spanish commentary for our remaining 5 games in the EL group stages? I don't think I can take much more of Rob McLean. To be fair maybe he just a little blase from all these great EL nights at Aberdeen? He truly is woeful. By the way, was there some sort of competition on how many times you can say Standaaard during commentary on BT last night or was Alex Rae just practising his Flemish?
  8. Let us not be in a hurry to see TLB dispatched. These are the early signs of a man beginning to crack a little under the pressure. I would prefer if he is around for while yet. The club have backed him hugely (best transfer window in 10 years allegedly!), to admit failure now would be a bold move. I would prefer he is given his notice in the shower room after the final game of the season.
  9. A great team performance. Many candidates as listed already, but it has to be Glenn Kamara.
  10. I was copied into a text today from a close friend who had discussed yesterday's match with a Rangers Legend. I quote "We battered them with 9 men. Morelos and Barker didn't turn up" I was slightly put out by that and when I watched the whole match today again, free of the angst and tension of it in live time, I paid particular attention to the 2 "accused". Morelos far from being posted missing was an absolute colossus. He worked tirelessly in the wider ares of the front line, his link up play and first touch was superb. His play stretched their back 3 and, in particular, he harassed Duffy and Brown in equal measure throughout. Sure, he plays on the edge and he had a number of sly kicks at both, but Brown has being doing this for years in OF games without any reprisal. The difference yesterday was the referee could not be influenced by 60 thousand racist bigots. Alfie played to instruction yesterday, it's a different role and as Bill says he's no longer a solo artist but a huge team player. He was first to join the goal celebrations and relished his role. When he is finally booked, look at the reaction he drew from that plank Duffy (who was hopeless at both goals conceded) he had wound him up so much! Turning to Barker, I concede he played a more subdued role but he worked tirelessly up and down, providing cover when needed in the wide areas. He was subbed after second goal, but that was tactical to shore up our lead rather than lack of effort. Now, the Legend may know more about the game than I ever will, but that game was not won by only having 9 payers on the pitch. Every one of the original 11 played their part, it was a great team performance, fully engaged and deployed by our coaching staff. One final reflection, anyone else notice when cameras panned to the benches our coaching team huddled in tactical discussion while in contrast Lennon sat socially distanced from everybody? What's that about? ?
  11. "Remember - don't get hammered!" ???
  12. I think that is a great point. Part of the reason those players you mention are here is down to him. It is no secret that Gerrard was a great admirer of Wilshere. He is quoted in 2013 as saying he could win 100 caps with England. Now 7 years on and an injury strewn career since, we will just have to wait and see if he still feels he could offer us options! Interestingly the first ex Celtic player to pour cold water on it? Step forward the legend that was Carlton Cole! Carlton states Wilshere won't be able to play on plastic pitches. Well Carlton, from what I recall from your time here, you couldn't play on grass ones either!?
  13. If we do sign him Jimmy Bell will have a field day with the letter pressing on the back of his shirt! Wiltshire, Willshire, Wilsheer, .... the possibilties are endless! ? Is your last comment a reference to a certain Mr Barton? Will Jack leave with his coffee machine tucked under his arm in disgrace?? C'mon let's sign him be worth it to see the man in the white sannies grinding his teeth!? Great post sir!
  14. Speaking hypothetically now. If he was prepared to play for nothing would you still say no? I really don't think this is about a Big Contract! If he came here it is not about money. It's about rebuilding a career wrecked by injury. Many people on here were bemoaning the fact we did not sign another AM. Well, perhaps we can get one for low / no cost? A fully fit and functioning Jack Wilshere would enhance our chances of silverware imo!
  15. "I am still incredibly hungry, ambitious and desperate to play football and achieve success. I'm still only 28 and feel fit, strong and ready to play" Part of Jack Wilshere's statement on leaving West Ham yesterday. Sounds to me like he wants to prove the doubters wrong. I have no insight however to the allegations that part of the problem may be "lifestyle" driven. What I do believe is this is a very good midfielder, well schooled in his art who if not plagued by injuries would command large transfer fee and wage demands our club could not dream of matching in normal circumstances. If he is looking to make a fresh start and was interested in giving it a go for say, a season with us he would be well worth a punt. Sometimes players just need a refresh and new outlook. Who knows? Depending what Gerrard's evaluation is of him from their England days, it may be something they wish to explore. I'd certainly back it!
  16. Christ! I must be getting old. It took me a while to get that!?
  17. Joe Aribo always comes across as a real grounded sensible young guy. No pretentiousness or large ego like many of his footballing brethren. Really nice gesture to a young fan. As above, pure class Joe!?
  18. There is only one candidate for me. Tavernier was the only outfield player who played anywhere near his "A" game. Too many below par performances from most of the others today.
  19. You should have seen the agony on my face watching him when he sprung the offside trap, with the goal gaping. Logic would say strike it with your right foot you must score! Not Barkerinho. He decides to cut left towards a line of County players and eventually shuffles it to his left foot, hits it through a ruck of players (including Alfie) and finds the net! I cannot make my mind if that is sheer genius or sheer bloody good luck. No wonder so many fans have mixed opinion on this bloke! Anyone notice that his 1st contribution today was a free kick to County for handball! ? Happy Birthday Brandon - don't blow too hard on your birthday candles - or you may be out for another few weeks!?
