  1. Aye, but those 3 teams will be delighted at drawing such a "big gun" in Pot 1! The only reason they are there because FOUR higher ranked teams went out last night! I'll be really surprise if they qualify from that group! Bring on the Disco Lights ?
  2. Lots of good performances. Our central defence looked solid, particularly Helander, midfield 3 were great, up top I thought Morelos was off it a bit, Kent a little subdued, but Hagi worked really hard and showed some lovely touches. Overall though it has to be Tavenier!
  3. What a performance that was. Absolutely buzzing still 12 hours later! After a very even first half, we really stepped it up beginning of second half. The passing movement for both our goals was so quick and precise, that is clearly the result of hours of coaching drills by the backroom staff. Great play and deft finish for Arfield for the first goal. Taveniers position for the second is outrageous! As Walter said, that was no late full back run, he was almost loitering with intent, completely ignored by Turkish defence! The cheap goal we gave away made for a nervous ending. Jack was definitely heading that off the line had McGregor not diverted it! Not that it matters much now. A final plaudit for RTV. Best £15 I've spent in a long time! What a great pundit line up and professional commentary accompaniment. Great when Gerrard joined them at end. His humble deference to Souness & Smith "large shoes to fill" says it all about our manager.
  4. As I said Cammy I am not certain but surely it would be a major bollock for a forth official to drop? But again it is the SPFL!?
  5. Not sure on this, maybe someone with better rules knowledge may know better, but as one of them was made at HT does that not apply to the 3 stoppages of play rule??
  6. For balance, there was actually TWO of us who did not predict a Gers win! Well, not in 90 mins play at least! I will own up as one, last Sunday's defensive debacle clouded my judgement somewhat! As a first season Gersnetter, I am willing to take whatever punishment the adjudicator decides? and promise to never to act in such a reprehensible fashion in the future.
  7. I think that's a good point. A bit surprised at some of the post match reaction on here today. Glad I do not see some of the other forums if they are worse! For whats it's worth my reflections are: We did not lose, playing away to 3rd best form team at a notorious tricky venue in the past. Each of our victories so far have been against teams deploying a low block. Hibs bucked that trend by playing more openly and exploiting our left flank in particular. We did not look particularly comfortable in parts of the match as Hibs asked questions of us defensively. Our midfield lacked a more physical edge needed in a game like this. Jack was missed, and there is a need for another robust centre mid. The refereeing was again sub standard but we need to get used to that. It won't change. In summary, we've played better but we are still top. Ross gets some (reluctant) credit for making it an open game with chances and good saves at both ends. We grumble on here about teams spoiling games by their negative set up. Hibs were over physical at times, but they asked questions of us today. If they play the same way next weekend they will ask questions of Celtic as well. Remember, it's September.
  8. Has to be Davis for me. Impeccable display of midfield control!
  9. Great post 26th! Oh by god, PQ on line not letting up! "leap frog Hibs into 2nd place", "will be top on Saturday with victory over Livingston" . By Christ, they miss no opportunity to sell that club, even after a scraped victory over a Covid stricken team. However, Lurgan Plopp admits the absence of the soap dodgers is having a "detrimental effect". As we are showing no sign of that, here's hoping Wee Nippy keeps everything locked down tight until after our visit to ra Scum Hut!
  10. Yes, there is something in what you say. I would just like to know how you counteract that in this corruptible SPFL climate? The odds are stacked overwhelmingly in Lawwell's favour. We already tried to call out the injustices to last season's farcical end. Where was the support for change from the rest? Practically non existent! How many of our players have been cited by the CO compared to them? I've lost count. What team do these so called arbitrators follow? Then, there is the Scottish Sport media that, in the main, have "Rangers hater" on their CV? Even at Government level you have a Justice Minister who "mislays" vital evidence of hate crimes! Remind me what team he supports? I take the P.O V. that Stewarty articulated, PR wars are NOT the answer. In my view keep our tinder dry powder under lock and key. They only way to begin to change this is by winning trophies and most importantly, TITLES! That will be the time to roll out the cannons and open the ammunition box!
  11. His morning Press conference tempers that news slightly. All three trained today. Barisic is a dead leg but should be ok. He seemed to have reservations over risking Defoe as he has played so little. He also mentioned Hilander had just returned this morning which was not ideal. Just wonder if he might go for Balegon instead? Will he also risk Itten from start? Also Morelos has being putting extra sessions in! Wonder if he will be considered for a start? Roll on tomorrow!
  12. I was somewhat surprised at an article on today's BBC Scotland > Scottish Football site "Steven Gerrard: Rangers Boss praises N.I.'s Steven Davis". For a second I thought this had emanated from the bowels of PQ as it mentioned " as told to Sportsound Extra Time" On closer examination, it derives from BBC Northern Ireland! Must have been cut and pasted into Scottish Football site as well! Excellent article in which Gerrard gives Davis a very fitting tribute. Very well deserved imo for a model professional. The full interview can also be heard on Radio Ulster via online at 18.05 tonight.
  13. Thank you gentlemen, for the informative replies! Now I have enlightenment!?
  14. So? Ireland, Luxembourg, Gibraltar, Georgia or......... Borac Banja Luca? Can anyone enlighten me to who, what or where ffs? Sounds like a Serbian drag act? ?
  15. I would echo that. 26th's comments on PQ's post match analysis reflect all the ills of a so called national broadcaster. I only listened from the final whistle, but I revelled in their collective pain and woes. Lurgen's interview was an absolute scattergun of excuses and diversion tactics. He has none of the steel or integrity of Gerrard in that respect. Tom Oirish whined loudly about their last 3 CL exits being a far cry from the "glory" ? of winning away to Lazio. Interestingly his meanderings are regurgitated verbatim in a PQ article on line today "Celtic need to stop kidding themselves" Pat Bonner lamented their defending and how he didn't enjoy watching their CL matches! "Celtic's level is the Europa League!" Really Pat? Remind us how much has been spent on building that EL squad then? All that remains is for the last PQ stalwart to add his thoughts. Step forward the red headed, sannie wearing nationalist. Where are you in the club's hour of need? ?
