Just get a striker in that can score goals and Dessers out. If we can also move on Tav off the wage bill along with dead wood like Dowell and McCausland who contribute nothing we can use the wages to strengthen. But given we can’t do anything until Jan 1 everything on here until then is conjecture at best but probably pish! -
Just rewatching last nights game. Our first goal is a cracker. 18 passes, nearly 2 minutes of possession without Nice getting a touch. Every one of our outfield players gets a touch. Obviously a little fortunate with the deflection but the build up play is lovely. Diomande’s finish is a thing of beauty, what a touch! Great performance, great result. On to Sunday and see if we can build momentum or just another false dawn when Saints play 10 at the back and we don’t get the space in behind that we used so well last night.

While it is clearly obvious we have regressed from last season, but it is unfair to say that happened in his 12 months in charge. His run from November to the start of March was very good and won a cup and put us top of the league with 10 games to go before the wheels fell off. He got Beale's awful team playing some decent stuff and things were looking very good. Night and day from what we have seen this season which has been awful. I really want the board and senior management sorted before I would trust anyone to get rid of Clement and choose a successor. I'm happy to not blow money we dont have in replacing with an interim or poor choice when we cannot win this seasons title anyway. Im not happy about it, but being pragmatic.

He started really well but I think he has gone off the boil recently, although I am convinced we arent getting the best out of him out wide. On reflection, I would prefer to keep him as long as we play him in the 10.

I’m not disagreeing with most of that other than comparing the quality on show which is subjective but I know you are not just wakening up to the fact our club bears no resemblance to the club when Walter stepped down in 2011. We have had a few false dawns like we were able to win the closed doors season when us the fans couldn’t apply enough pressure on our team to bottle it so we skooshed it, and were a penalty kick away from a European trophy, but those 2 apart it’s been an absolute shit show for 14 years. Changing the manager again won’t change any of that unfortunately, the issues are far bigger. I’d rather we limped on with what we have and get the rest sorted first using the rest of this season to properly prepare for a serious tilt in 25/26. But Rangers fans in general and the media especially won’t allow that to happen.

Souttar, Jefte, Raskin, Hagi, Cerny I’d be happy to keep. Butland, Sterling, Barron, Diomande, I don’t mind if they stay but meh if they go. Tav, Propper, Ridvan, mcCausland, Lawrence, Dessers, Danilo, Igamane, Bajrami, Dowell I’d be happy to see leave. Anybody I’ve missed is because I can’t even think of them as I’m typing this so I guess I’m not that bothered about keeping. But to those saying this is worst team in X years that’s just frustration as the football under Beale just last year was much much worse than this lot, and then you’re also forgetting the Pedro monstrosity when we lost in Luxembourg and of course the side that couldn’t win the Championship under Super Ally. That’s all within the last 10 years. It might be 1 top flight title in 14 years but we weren’t in the top flight for 4 years and we won the title in the only division we were allowed to play in during 3 of 4 years so a bit of balance would be nice. The board gave upon this title last summer to get the books back in order. Clement got 3 instructions in the summer - take £10M off the wage bill, reduce the age of the squad, bring in players we can sell for profit. First 2 are ticked off and 3rd possible but not nailed on. Having done what was asked I don’t see him getting sacked. I’m fairly numb about league results as the title was gone in July so perhaps that’s why I’m not as angry as others with the current situation.

I think there is definitely a chance of postponement. The pitch will be fine, it’s the travel and local area that might be too bad. Having been in the south side this morning the roads are definitely getting tricky and m74 is very slow -

Raskin for me was top banana last night just ahead of Cerny who had a great game. Im not getting the gushing over Barron, thought he played well mostly but did nowhere near as much as his wee partner in the engine room, and he still dives in to intercept passes he cant get to which then leaves us wide open to the break. Happened again last night but thankfully the opponent wasted the opportunity. Lawrence took his goal really well but then faded as he often does after scoring. It was pointed out to me at the game last night that you could have got very long odds on us playing a European game with a forward line of Tav Igamane and Lovelace which is how we finished last night! Really enjoyed the game and performance. Please repeat it on Sunday.

I would add my vote to Stuart Munro as an unsung hero. I am pretty sure at one stage he was the only uncapped player in the team but you wouldnt know it, a very reliable and able full back in amongst all Souness's big money buys.

Watched a bit of this and the standard is truly awful. I am not sure how much we as a club are pumping into the womans setup, but it surely must be the best part of £1M which begs the question is it worth it?

Match Thread [FT] Rangers 1 (Lawrence 14) - 4 Lyon
Tannochsidebear replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Every single player in that 2007 team (maybe apart from jig) would walk into our current team with absolutely no hesitation. And you've got to remember most of these players retired some years ago. True story, I was there that night and we were sitting in a bar just off the main square when some locals came up and asked us for a score prediction. Me and my mate both played it safe saying we would love a draw but appreciate what a top side Lyon are, my other mate replies with a straight face 3-0 to the Rangers no problem, at which point they locals fell about laughing and we took the beer off him. When the third went in he turned and said, told you, never in doubt!! One of the best smash n grab victories ever, with a Walter tactical masterclass, a huge effort from the players and a lot of luck. No idea what to expect from Lyon tonight, but hope we can raise our game and take something out of it. A win would be sensational, a draw would probably be a good point and keeps us in the top half of the table.
