  1. Thanks to our friends at WATP Magazine we're delighted to offer Gersnet forum members the chance to win a pair of tickets to one of the Lorenzo Amoruso nights at The Louden Tavern this Friday or Saturday! To enter the competition you must have been a registered forum member before this thread was posted and all you need to do is post on the thread here to say that you're definitely available on either Friday or Saturday night and that you'd like to win this pair of tickets to go along to the event. It goes without saying that the competition is only for the pair of tickets. No travel expenses or booze are included! The competition closes at 6pm on the 27th (tomorrow), after which the forum usernames of everyone who posted here to say they want to go will be put into a hat (quite literally!) and a winner will be drawn and announced before 7pm. Note: If you enter, then please make sure your current email address is up to date in your forum Settings so that you can easily be contacted!
  2. Reign it in a bit with the personal stuff please dB.
  3. I think he's maybe still living south of the border and only comes up here now and again to drop into meetings, events etc and generally talk shite.
  4. Excellent goal from Gallagher! It looked like it was getting away from him, but he had the pace to catch up and the calmness to slot it home.
  5. The Jig quotes in Chris Jack's 'article' were copied and pasted directly from one of the official Gers articles which was published on the Rangers site yesterday. This one: Determined To Make It Right Tuesday, 25 November 2014 16:00 Determined To Make It Right Written by Alice Hedworth CAPTAIN Lee McCulloch says the Rangers team have an huge sense of determination to put their wrongs right. The centre back insists the Light Blues are capable of closing the gap at the top of the Championship table. Stevie Smith’s red card was the turning point on a disappointing day at Tynecastle – but the skipper doesn’t believe anything is over yet. McCulloch said: “There is definitely a sense of determination amongst the boys to make up the nine point gap. “We’re not even half way through the season yet, so to say that we’ve lost the league now is a wee bit premature. “Obviously there is a bit of a gap there but it’s one that we need to look at and be positive that we can try and close it. “There has been a lot of criticism flying about for the team and rightly so. “We need to use that as motivation to try and get back and close that gap - there is still a lot of football to be played. “We know that gap is big but it is not mathematically impossible and everyone in this team believes we can do it.” The Rangers players gathered at Murray Park on Monday and Tuesday to watch over the defeat, as well as take part in their usual training sessions. 36-year old McCulloch admits there has been a sombre mood around the training ground following Saturday’s result. But with a Scottish Cup tie this Sunday he and his teammates are all too aware they must look forward. He said: “There has to be a fresh start from now, Sunday was a day of rest for everybody and then Monday was a day of reflection at Murray Park. “That is out of the way now and the best way to look at it is that it’s a new chapter. “We have watched the game again and I think first half we were probably the better team and created the most chances. “This is a disappointing moment but we need to look forward, which is what we’ll do all week in training ahead of Kilmarnock. “We need to return our form to that of the winning run we were on - we went eight games unbeaten after the Hibs game and only lost one goal. “It is vital we get back to that and pretty quick, especially in the league but we also want to continue our Scottish Cup run.” http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/item/8147-determined-to-make-it-right
  6. Wow, that WAS a very strong side! Rangers :- Liam Kelly; Ryan Sinnamon, Greg Pascazio, Sebastien Faure, Ross McCrorie (Ryan Finnie 62mins); Fraser Aird, Andy Murdoch, Kyle Hutton (Dylan Dykes 62mins), David Templeton (Scott Roberts 77mins); Dean Shiels; Nicky Clark.
  7. Interesting timing yet again. Anyone starting a book on the accounts coming out on Monday in the shadow of a Scottish Cup defeat or upbeat joy of a victory?
  8. My guess (and it always was based on player accounts at the time) is that Green purposely didn't speak to the players about transferring via TUPE and deliberately left them in the dark about what was happening because he wanted as many as possible to leave knowing that there was no way he and his wide boy cronies could afford to pay the exorbitant player wages even up until the end of the transfer window. For all we know, some of those who left might even have been secretly ASKED to leave in the manner they did, but swore to keep their mouths shut about it. Good to see you back, but let's not get personal with fellow posters, even if they infuriate you.
  9. Both our game against Killie and the Hearts v Celtic game are on Sky Sports.
  10. We could really be doing with a decent crowd for this, but with what you and others have mentioned plus it being moved to the Sunday, it's hard to imagine it being much more than 15k - 17k.
  11. I know mate, but I was just pointing out another aspect of the whole shafting we received from the Scottish football authorities and fellow SPL clubs. Being forced to pay the oldco football debts, but not receive a penny of the prize money and other monies owed to us was a scandalous affair. You have to wonder if BDO will have been able to get those monies owed to oldco and whether or not the rushed league reconstruction and SPFL formation was anything to do with those millions of pounds.
  12. We don't need an apology and we don't need Naismith to tell us who was advising him and the other players because it was widely known at the time that they were being advised by representatives from PFA Scotland, including Celtic supporting representatives from PFA Scotland. We don't need to forgive or forget, but it's time we just put all that crap behind us and moved on.
  13. That would be a fair outcome. Something else that would be fair is for Dundee Utd to remember that despite being forced to pay our football debts, we were also forced to let the SPL & SFA keep millions of pounds owed to us in prize money etc and that was a scandalous punishment which Dundee Utd profited from because our prize money was divided up amongst the other 11 SPL clubs.
  14. I certainly don't hold anything against Naismith for the ill-advised press conference or for moving on. He's done well for himself down south and held his own in a tough league for Scottish players to make a mark due to the amount of foreign players being signed.
  15. That's the predictions thread for the Killie game up now, so feel free to post your predictions any time between now & the 12:45 kick-off on Sunday. Do it here - Predictions for Rangers v Kilmarnock - Scottish Cup R4 (GPL game 23)

  17. http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/club-news/item/8144-tickets-on-sale-for-killie Tuesday, 25 November 2014 12:00 Tickets On Sale For Killie Written by Rangers Football Club RANGERS will host SPFL Premiership side Kilmarnock this Sunday in the William Hill Scottish Cup Fourth Round at Ibrox and there are still tickets remaining. The Gers are still competing in all three domestic Cup competitions this season, with Alloa and Celtic awaiting in the next rounds of the Petrofac Training Cup and League Cup respectively. However, attention turns to the Scottish Cup this weekend and once again the Light Blues take on Premiership opposition, this time in the shape of Kilmarnock. Rangers have played Premiership opposition twice this season already in the League Cup, defeating Inverness Caley Thistle and St Johnstone both by a single goal at Ibrox and the squad will be aiming to make it three in a row on Sunday. Midfield starlet Lewis Macleod was the difference scoring the Rangers goals in against Inverness and St Johnstone and he will be key for the Gers yet again this weekend as they look to shake off the disappointment of defeat to Hearts with ten men last weekend. Allan Johnston's Killie side are currently in seventh position in the SPFL Premiership and are on a run of four straight defeats, so they too will want to bounce back in the Cup. The last posting date for Kilmarnock tickets is Thursday at 4pm. After this time all tickets purchased via online or hotline will be for collection only. Ticket Information: William Hill Scottish Cup 4th Round | Rangers v Kilmarnock | Sunday 30 November – 12.45pm kick off | Season Ticket Holder price – Adult £17, Concession £12 and Juniors £4 | General sale prices – Adult £18, Concession £13 and Juniors £5 (More info here) Click here to buy tickets online
  18. They've got QotS & Alloa at Tyncastle, both of which could be no push over. We just need to make sure we win our own games. The league title isn't gone until it's gone. You give up and surrender it in your mind if you like, but there's plenty of other fans who won't be giving up on it at this early stage.
  19. Regarding our defence, yes, it's definitely a concern, but let's not blow it too far out of proportion. The difference in goals conceded between us and Hearts is 6 goals after 14 games and 5 of those 6 goals were scored against us in just 2 freak games against Hearts & Hibs. You can't forecast a season based on a couple of freak games. As I said previously, Hearts have had a great start to their season, but the chances are very high indeed that it won't last. It's up to us to win as many of our games as possible and be there to reduce the gap when they inevitably drop points.
  20. In August & September of 2012 Chuck Green made a big point of repeatedly harping on about having to pay oldco football debts. The SFA & SPL were adamant that we shouldn't be allowed to avoid paying them, so it needs to be a 2-way street.
  21. The laws of averages, logic and common sense. Hearts have had a good start to the season and we've had a bad one, but that's football and strings of results change very quickly.
  22. Monday, 24 November 2014 13:00 Loan Watch Written by Rangers Football Club CATCH up with how the eight Rangers youngsters out on loan got on at the weekend in the latest instalment of Loan Watch: Young striker Calum Gallagher continued his good run of form out on loan at Cowdenbeath with yet another goal - his fourth in nine matches - in a 1:0 win over Livingston. Winning those three points meant that the Blue Brazil leap-frogged Livingston to move off the bottom of the SPFL Championship table and into ninth position. Kyle McAusland missed last weekend with an injury to his hand, but he was back in action this week against Peterhead. McAusland continued to play in a midfield position for Brechin and had a good game in a 1:1 draw at Balmoor in a game that Brechin dominated. Elsewhere in League 1, Tom Walsh was a second half substitute for Stenhousemuir in a 3:1 defeat to Robbie Crawford's Greenock Morton. Crawford played all but one minute of the 3:1 win for Morton to win all three points to maintain their position at the top of the League by a single point. Goals from Lee Kilday and Stefan McCluskey were enough for the victory. Luca Gasparotto was back in the starting line up for Airdrieonians after his exploits with the Canadian under-20 side, however his team went down 1:0 to Daniel Stoney's Stranraer. Stoney played 89 minutes of the match and it was a penalty from Stephen Stirling after Stoney was fouled inside the box that separated the sides. Young winger Barrie McKay played the full match as Raith Rovers were defeated 2:0 at Palmerston Park through goals from John Baird and Gavin Reilly. The three points and defeat of the Gers by Hearts meant that the Doonhammers closed the gap to four points between second and third position in the Championship. Craig Halkett played the full match for Clyde in a 4:0 defeat for Barry Ferguson's men. The loss meant that the Bully Wee slip to sixth position in League Two. http://www.rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/item/8141-loan-watch
  23. It'll be back in our hands soon enough as long as we don't let the gap widen any further.
  24. Hearts, just like many teams (including ourselves at times), have a habit of starting a season great and then going into a spell of dropping points like nobodies' business. That's just football. We've had a poor start to the season, but I fully expect us to improve and stop dropping as many points. Have a little faith Rab, if not in Ally or the players, then at least in the laws of averages.
