  1. Last call !!!!!!!!!!!! Get your predictions in before kick-off at 7:45pm for the League Cup game against Queen's Park in Airdrie tonight - http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?65267-Predictions-for-Queen-s-Park-v-Rangers-League-Cup-R1-(GPL-game-6)
  2. He'd need to be insane to accept his million quid paid back in shares that could be worth hee haw at the drop of a hat.
  3. I'm guessing George Letham will want his £1m returned in cash, but would be happy to accept his £45,000 premium payment in shares.
  4. Oops, I missed that part! I wonder what would happen with the car park ownership if the Letham loan is defaulted and he's not willing to renegotiate new terms? I remember it was discussed on here back in March or whatever, but can't remember what the consensus was.
  5. No, the premium payment (as they called it) on the Letham loan is just a flat £45,000 payable in cash or shares, whichever George Letham prefers.
  6. No, I don't have an assessment, since as you say, the whole thing is utterly baffling. If I were to have a guess, I'd say it certainly wouldn't surprise me if Cammy Bell were to leave this week because his wage will be considerably higher than Simmo or Robinson, possibly even more than them both combined. It would obviously raise questions about whether we were told the truth about his injury though! The other option though, is that Robinson was willing to sign for a very small basic salary + appearance cash if he plays and it was deemed an affordable cost. As for Kelly, I have no idea, although if he's still here it's possible that he's been injured as young Robby McCrorie has been starting for the U20 team recently.
  7. Bell wouldn't pass a medical if he's injured though, so it's unlikely we'll see him leaving before this transfer window closes unless he miraculously recovers only a few days after we've signed Robinson or an interested club are willing to take him on the basis that it's not a serious injury.
  8. Cheers mate, that's your name down for it! Anyone else?
  9. There is absolutely no way we're getting anywhere near completing the season without a very substantial injection of cash. I'd be extremely surprised if we could even get through to the end of January without it. This board and the people they represent are running out of time very quickly indeed. The auditors are unlikely to be happy with the accounts and that could start a chain reaction. Personally, I'm starting to get very worried indeed.
  10. I think we should be a lot more concerned about the Club's immediate future than worrying about competing for CL spots or group stage qualification at this point in time because if the boardroom absentees & their chums running the show don't sort out some very significant investment in the near future, then the Club will be in very serious trouble again well before the end of the season. Last season they needed to borrow cash in February, but that was with a starting point of over £10m in the bank at the end of June last year and very good season ticket sales. This season we're in big trouble if they don't manage to bring in major investment.
  11. There's 3 cup fixtures penciled in for September & October, but only one of them is a weekend game, the Petrofac Training Cup SF on Sunday 12 October (if we beat East Fife in the away game which has just been postponed), but even assuming we get through to that fixture on 12 October, there's no guarantee of it being a home tie. So aye, 2 home games in 2 months is going to damage the Club's financial situation even further and we don't have Hearts & Hibs back at Ibrox in the league until January & February. Worrying times unless some significant investment is brought in to plug the hole.
  12. Updated the match preview writing schedule and it's blank again! Come on folks, get your name down for a match preview! 13. Good shout. Ship out and replace directly with a no messing about, proper central defender.
  14. What irks me about Ally's comments on this is that the whole "it would be disrespectful to East Fife" patter is most likely a load of nonsense (to put it politely!). This has sod all to do with being respectful to East Fife, it's about Scottish football politics and making our whole squad fully available for call-up.
  15. Don't forget to enter your predictions before tonight's game against Queen's Park folks! Use the link in the post above.
  16. If Shiels and Mohsni were missing from the squad it would be no great loss. Lewis MacLeod is the only one of the 3 mentioned who would be a loss to the squad, but we should have enough midfielders to cover for him against that level of opposition.
  17. Like yourself, I haven't read her full chapter or section of the book, but even still, I'd argue that the Club should essentially stand for the support and vice versa, perhaps even act as a whole or be 'at one' so to speak, but I think it's symptomatic of developments over the past decade (and more) at Rangers that any divide between the ruling regimes at Ibrox and the supporters which was previously there has grown considerably, maybe even exponentially to the point we're at now. Like I said in my initial reply to you though amms, it's a complex situation we're talking about here (and that was an understatement!), so when you say "The 'club' stands for very little now" I just can't buy into that idea at all. The Club has multitudes of serious problems and it's not in good shape at the moment, but it still is and still stands for itself, Rangers Football Club and it still stands for the supporters (and vice versa!) whether we like it or not.
  18. We all stick up for each other when we think it's appropriate dB, but the ironies which occasionally smack us in the face while posting our thoughts on Rangers forums are equal to us all, so the odd bit of harmless banter is fair game across the board.
  19. Remember to get your predictions in for tomorrow night's League Cup game against Queen's Park folks! Do it here - Predictions for Queen's Park v Rangers - League Cup R1 (GPL game 6)
  20. In fairness dB, when you repeatedly put yourself in the firing line, it's inevitable that you'll get shot!
  21. Exactly. I think it's difficult to argue against the concept that it's the Club's supporters who form the majority of the Club's identity, especially when we've repeatedly been told over the years by incumbent regimes at Ibrox that as a support we represent the Club and are an intrinsic part of it, so need to act (behave) accordingly. Even in times like these where large swathes of fans feel separated & disenfranchised from the current regime running the Club, those very same fans are every bit as much a part of the fabric of the Club as ever before. If Rangers had ever to move to a new stadium it would still be Rangers. If the Club's crest changed again - which it's done numerous times in our history - it would still be Rangers, but without the fans, there would be no Rangers.
  22. Great to see you back posting amms! You're certainly right about the use of language causing confusion, especially certain definitions. For example, technically speaking the 'Club' is the Club itself with it's property, history, traditions, the staff it employs.. etc. On the other hand, there's perfectly good arguments for saying that the Club's supporters are an inherent part of the fabric of the Club itself too, far more so even than a building ridden with asbestos like Edmiston House or fleeting members of staff these days jumping on and off the Ibrox gravy train. That's where this whole subject becomes far more complex because if you regard the supporters as an intrinsic part of the 'Club', then you might not see some of the so-called 'traditions' quite as much during 90 mins of football at Ibrox (depending on where you sit obviously!), but a quick pre or post-match visit to any good Rangers pub or club almost always paints a different picture and a large percentage of supporters buses and RSC nights will too. So basically, it's the definition of the 'Club' which is very much subjective. Even although the technical side of the Club is in no way responsible for songs getting played and sung in Rangers pubs & clubs or on buses & boats, there's a strong case for some of those 'traditions' being part of the Club.
