  1. I agree with most of the posters here & the bottom line for me is that it's absolutely dismal that we're prepared to let Adam go for this money. If we go out and spend any more than 500k on someone who's less useful than Adam it's a disgrace. The club might have large debts, but if we don't spend too much in this window the debts should be almost halved, with the emphasis on 'should be'.
  2. We paid over £2 million for Lee McCulloch FFS. I'd rather have Adam as backup/playing in our midfield than LM. I'm really disappointed in the club for accepting as little as 500k. We'll see Adam selling for a lot more money than this within 2-3 yrs.
  3. Not really mate.
  4. I like long shorts, but not in that material. They look much better in softer material like the shirt. Btw, the old strip that this is sort of based on was a cracker. Nicer than this new one even.
  5. A straight (IE not slanted) Carling logo in white with the red flashes also in white would look much better on our strip, but that's not the type of thing RFC have an influence on, unless we just ditch Carling as soon as we have the chance. I definitely agree that the Carling logo looks terrible, but you should be able to buy the strips without it.
  6. Whooop whooop.
  7. Very nice! That's going to be the best top in the SPL .... again.
  8. Not surprised at all that they lost. With the absence of 9 first team regulars from last season & a new manager coming in only a few days ago, they were hardly likely to slap the Welsh team around. Maybe they can put on a good show down there & stay in Europe.
  9. I'm not saying this shows a full picture of either player, not by a long shot, but since they're both the same age (well Adam is actually about 10 months younger) lets compare the career statistics of Davis & Adam, since for me Adam is worth significantly more than 500k. .......................................Steven Davis....................Charlie Adam................ Appearances -...............169 (+27 as sub)..............130 (+ 24 as sub).............. Career Goals -..........................17.................................31......................... Goals for RFC -..........................8..................................18......................... Recent offers made -...............£5m...............................£500k...................... Now you could say, 'well Davis played in the EPL', but it's also worth pointing out that a good number of Adam's 18 goals for Rangers didn't come against the poorer opposition. Some of them were actually in Europe. He also started in our 4-2 thrashing of the mhanks last season IIRC.
  10. Does this mean it's ok to post a thread here about the electronic imaging hardware being used at Wimbledon?
  11. Totally agree. I don't know why we'd even consider selling Adam for less than a million. We'd be as well just advertising in the press that football clubs who want some free money should contact the Ibrox CEO for their free handout.
  12. How much better a player could we bring in for £1.5m - £2m though? I'm not convinced that we could get a significantly better player in for any less than £2.5m maybe £3m, so I just don't see the point. One thing's for sure; any club buying Adam for £500k is getting a bargain because we couldn't buy a player of his age & quality from down south for that sort of money, no way.
  13. Good news!!
  14. Lets face it. We'll be playing 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 formations, which is fine, but it would be nice to see the 4-5-1 being played as 4-3-3 more often instead of being so defensive.
  15. On paper it's a tuff one to call, but I'd say Real have the better team.
  16. I'd like to see us give the 4-3-3 formation a run of games, but it would probably be best or at least safest, to introduce it in our cup matches. I like the idea of Davis roaming freely behind the strikers & I think Mendes could play that role too. Also, as you said Frankie, that role would also suit Fleck quite well, so he'd be challenging for a place there. It's not a dissimilar concept your suggesting as to what we seen Spain & Brazil using in the Confederations Cup, whereby their full backs constantly bomb forward as attacking wingers. We know that SP & SW both like to play the more attacking minded full back roles, so I really don't see what we'd have to lose by making full use of them. As for the LW & CD positions, I'd rather see us buying a partner for Bougie & using Davie Weir for Cup games & in the event of one of the regular central defenders getting injured.
  17. Handy player to have if we get struck by some midfield injuries. Edu won't be back straight away & Thomson is only just coming back (we hope), so all it would take is a Mendes injury & Charlie would be handy to have around. I'd keep him unless we were offered over a million or he wanted a move himself.
  18. Well, we're better off with SDM than Hertz are with that corrupt scumbucket Romanov, so having said that, I think you should be getting a better picture of what my POV is.
  19. That's a bit sad Super_Ally. I've got a multitude of reasons for not wanting our club to be bought by mega rich Saudis or other UAE money men & absolutely none of them are racist in any way. To put it extremely simply, I'm not a fan of Arab wealth because of how it's been accumulated. They are for the most part, completely & utterly corrupt in my opinion.
  20. Maybe I'm not the only one that cringes at the prospect of Arabs buying Rangers Football Cub.
  21. I think they've gone for the one that was willing to accept the lowest salary.
  22. Like you said though, it's a team game & to be fair, we can't rely on Boyd to win any game for us any more than Barca can rely on Henry or anyone else to win them a game. If the team are playing well enough as a unit & supplying the strikers throughout the game, there's no reason why the strikers shouln't be scoring, but sometimes fate/luck whatever you want to call it, doesn't go your way. Last season their were numerous games that we 'deserved' to win, but didn't & to blame that solely on your top goal scorer is just wrong imo.
  23. Those comments don't stand up to any scrutiny Gribz. The best strikers in the world have their off days (often many of them) & it may be against the poorer opponents occasionally, but it's regularly against the better ones as well. Just look at the performances of the best strikers in the world for their performances with club teams & country & you'll see what I'm getting at.
  24. Ian, I think Charlie has a lot more to offer this club over the next few years than Lee McCulloch & given what we paid for LM, that gives an indicator of Charlies' worth imo.
