  1. Messrs Lamb & Leach have made a start on cost reduction and until suitable replacements are found, you are correct that I have backed them. That said there is no question that they are Mr Ashley's placemen; but there is equally no question that they have fiduciary duties to act for proper purposes, act with due care and avoid conflicts of interest. I am in no doubt that if they are found wanting in any of these duties they will be held to account.
  2. Happy to be gentle and in any event you may well be correct. I took it as it read but there are at least two apparent contradictions in the comments. If we take the last two sentences however I take that to mean that he doesn't feel ready to manage a big club but might want to start at alower level. Bear in mind he's only been involved in senior football for two and a half years; he might make a great coach with a more experienced manager.
  3. I don't think there's much between us on this. You need to be a tough cookie to implement the cuts required and it's an oftentimes thankless task. I'm not "fawning over" him but he has made some progress and if he goes (which is by no means certain) someone equally tough will need to be brought in to continue the task in hand. Since he's on a modest £150k, what fraction did you have in mind and have you factored in the weather?
  4. He is at Valencia to learn how to be a manager. Just as he was at Rio Ave. "I consider this season as a bit like a finishing school or the final year at university," he said. "I'm looking to get about three years of experience out of it to accelerate my own preparation. I want to manage and I want to do it as quickly as possible. "I've got a very clear gauge in my mind of when I'll know that I'm ready and I'm not there yet. But depending on the circumstances of [my next] club, I'm not that far away." http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/29463560 4 October 2014 Not quite yet it seems.
  5. That's an excellent shout, though it might need to be limited to a one off to avoid conflict with other guys trying to earn a living.
  6. Cathro made it clear he thinks it's too early in his career.
  7. I don't know anything about Jack Irvine and I have never supported the Easdales. I do think that if Llambias goes then we will need another tough cookie like him to continue the cost reduction process to the point where we are living within our means.
  8. Wonder how UEFA will react because they don't like Government "interference" with football authorities.
  9. Bus tycoon James Easdale has resigned from Rangers' board, saying he is bowing to pressure from the Scottish Championship club's supporters. Easdale's brother and business partner, Sandy, is football club chairman and controls more than 20% of club shares. But James Easdale was one of four directors facing being voted off the board at a 6 March general meeting. And he said that surviving such a vote would be "a hollow victory for me without the fans' support". http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/31618423 Interesting comment at the end, seems to imply he thinks the vote will not be won by KingCo?

  11. There is a similar "unwritten rule" in Major League Baseball, that you don't attempt to steal a base if you are up 10-0, especially late on in a game. And that applies both to the team in the lead who would be considered jackasses for attempting to humiliate the losing team and the team that is losing because it is considered futile. As it happened in this game it didn't turn out SO bad for Man City but they obviously didn't read Javi Gracia's script, although it's a different thing at home obviously; but perhaps they can employ his tactics away. http://www.espnfc.com/spanish-primera-division/15/blog/post/2313915/how-malaga-beat-barcelona-and-what-manchester-city-can-learn-from-it
  12. R&M are a top quality organisation and they will act ethically and in whatever way they consider to be in the best interests of their unitholders. There sole concern is to unlock what they see as the long term value in Rangers shares; otherwise they would have cut their losses and sold on the recent upswing in price. The Rangers shares are held in: UK Equity Long Term Recovery Fund (£107m) The objective of the strategy is to outperform a target of LIBOR + 4% per annum. In seeking to achieve the objective the portfolio will primarily consist of UK equities that meet the manager’s recovery criteria of a turnaround in company profitability over the longer term. The manager does not operate within relative risk constraints, but sets absolute limits on the amount of capital allocated to any particular company or sector. World Recovery (£194m) The objective of the strategy is to achieve capital growth, through investing in a portfolio which will primarily consist of international equities that the investment manager believes will benefit from a recovery in company profitability over the medium and longer term. The Fund will not be restricted by reference to a benchmark, territory, sector constraints or company size. They own 4,704,827 shares which at today's price of 33p are worth £1,552,592 which as MB suggets is very small 0.5% of the total value of the two Funds (sorry don't have time right now to get the split). So it is and as I pointed out more than a year ago always has been small potatoes for them but that won't stop them doing what they think is best. The article is pure speculation which anyone could do and is not informed in any way. I have had a relationship with a very senior figue in R&M which has allowed me to obtain and post small snippets of information from time to time but he won't tell me their current intentions. You may be sure of one thing; they will have quized the current management/Ashley closely about their plans as well as listening to what KingCo has to say and will act accordingly.
  13. Fernando Ricksen was a good attacking RB who was sometimes effectively deployed as an attacking MF; Black is a defensive midfielder and no more. The only similarity I see is that both are prone to lose the plot.
  14. His honesty is refreshing and I agree with him.
  15. Didn't think you'd be out of the loop.
  16. Well it's not that difficult really, given that the Chair resigned and it wasn't the Secretary; there are only two other members of the Communication Sub-Committee and posting that comment has the hallmark of one of them written all over it. I'd say it's extremely important but guess we'll have to agree to disagree on that.
  17. I'm obviously aware that TC is no longer the Chair but absent any other information I quoted from the Minutes of the 2nd Meeting which is why I retained the brackets around his and the Secretary's name as I assume it would be whoever holds these positions. If the Secretary didn't post the Minutes then who did? Are you saying that the Secretary was not responsible for including the Leach comment about the Three Bears? If not who was? Any comment on my post #20?
  18. I don't know, I am not on FB but the RFB has a Communications sub-committee, comprising Chair (Tom C) / Secretary (Gary G) / Alan F / AlisonC-*D. I understand that Gary posted the Minutes on the FB page after circulating to the other RFB members. I don't know where Zia's post copied into the other thread came from.
  19. Nothing whatsover to do with "anti-RST resentment" as you put it.
  20. I agree that it does not look like a good deal. The Board have stated that L&L have been instrumental in reducing expenses by an annulised £2.5m. They are by no means perfect but you want to replace them by a team led by a person who was described by a South African judge thus:""he has no respect for the truth and does not hesitate to lie... if he thinks it will be to his advantage" "
  21. Apparently not. But perhaps FS would now like to confirm that Tom Clements actually resigned on the morning after the meeting but that this was not made public to avoid the obvious inference being drawn.
  22. Not at all, see #91.
  23. You learn something new every day. I have conducted quite a few polls on here and had no idea that the facility existed. That said I have no problem with anyone knowing my views on this, I just didn't realise that anyone could see the votes. I voted to remove Somers and Easdale for a variety of reasons not the least being their obvious inability or unwillingness to act in the best interests of the Club and contempt for the shareholders thrugh trying to arrange the EGM in London. I do not support King as a director of Rangers because in my opinion he is no more "fit and proper" than some of the incumbents. I do not support Paul Murray because he was ineffective previously and has been involved with a large number of companies whose record is somewhat less than impresive. I do not support Mr Gilligan because I think he is there as a Placeman for King and I think there are better candidates. Under the circumstances I did not vote to remove Llambias or Leach because from what I have read so far they are doing their best (and somewhat better than Wallace & Co) to improve Rangers finances. And whilst we're on the subject, so that you can all go apoplectic, I have no problem taking money from Ashley (though I would rather it could be in the form of equity than loans) if his intention is to promote Rangers and through Rangers his own business. Ideally I would like to see the Three Bears team up with Ashley.
  24. I did not suggest that it did (negate your point) merely the adjective can and has been applied to both sides.
  25. Happy to accept that from you but the Chair may well have anticipated or even been made aware of the potential backlash as Zia says; and decided to resign first.
