Easdales, Llambias and Leach Having Lunch At Bella Fresca Just now

Point taken; another alternative of course might be to play the get out of jail fee card or pay a £40m fine instead. -

Ross County chief: chaos at Ibrox has caused sponsor delays...
BrahimHemdani replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The rise of Ross County from the Highland League to the SPL is indeed as remarkable as his future plans are sound and impressive. We do well to remember that without these so called village teams there would be no Scottish Football as such and we would have had no one to play against these past three seasons. The Italian and Spanish leagues are full of teams that you have never heard of, who have risen up the divisions whilst well known names have dropped down. That's one thing that makes football so refreshing (sometimes) e.g. Eibar the very well run club from the Basque town with a population of 27,000 who won back to back promotions to La Liga last season and are doing quite nicely thank you. The spin on the reason for the lack of SPFL sponsorship is just that, spin; the real reason is the absence of Rangers and hence the lack of old firm derbies and to a lesser extent the absence of Hearts and the Edinburgh derbies. The SPFL needs Rangers, Hearts & to some extent Hibs alongside Celtic, Aberdeen and Dundee Utd. Who makes up the other six places doesn't really matter all that much so long as they are reasonably competitive like St Johnstone and Motherwell from to time; but the smaller clubs also need an incentive to drive forward and not lapse into mediocrity. If a handful more could do a "Ross County" then we could have one senior division of 16 full time teams, a second division made up largely of part time teams (there might be some P/T in the top division and some F/T in the 2nd); and consign the rest to the new North and South feeder leagues or Junior football where they belong but with the pyramid structure in place to give them a ladder back up. -

Should I book it for the next Gersnet Dinner and invite Mr Alexander Easdale to recount the tale of his time as a Director of Rangers Football Club? -
Did the RFB ever get an answer from Mr LLambias as to the official reason for having the AGM outside Glasgow/Scotland for the first time ever and specifically in London? We all know the real reason but I wondered what spin they put on it.

Not a bus story but when we were in Bucharest for the Unirea game about a dozen bears were staying in a decent little place called the Tempo Hotel, not quite up to the standards of Ceaușescu's Palace but it did for a couple of nights and at least we didn't suffer the same fate as him. Anyway on the night before the game we explained that the half a dozen or so bottles of beer in the chiller wouldn't be sufficient, so amid a great rattling of keys another case was produced from the cellar and then another........ and we went to bed with a reminder to the management that regardless of the result a far greater supply would be needed to quench our thirsts after the match. Enquiries about schnaps were met with, it's called Palinka but we don't have any on the shelves because it's illegal; but the manager's sister makes it, so leave it with us . The next morning, sure enough three bottles were delivered to my room and they refused to take any payment, it was a gift for their honoured guests. They made a big effort to get in enough beer for the post mortem and I tried hard to dispense the Palinka but it's disgusting stuff, not at all like the the Slovenian Borovicka? and few could take more than a couple of sips but one chap with an impervious liver seemed to like it so he got a bottle and a half. If anyone would like the third bottle of Palinka 2008 in a Ballantine's 12-year Old bottle, please apply by PM.

I have never met the man but I am assured he is a very nice person and a genial host at dinners and the like. However, it is my opinion that he is "on the team" principally as a link to the RST (nothing wrong with that per se) and the Members such as Andy Smillie. In that context he promised much and totally failed to deliver when he was the much touted go between the RST and the Members in 2010. I found this "Before being recruited to Tennent’s, Gilligan spent a number of years working for drinks merchant Inverarity Morton but spent most of his career at Scottish & Newcastle (S&N). " http://www.scotsman.com/business/retail/interview-john-gilligan-and-stephen-annand-of-tennent-s-1-2210057 and this "John Gilligan started out as a Trainee Salesman with Dryburghs, bringing over 30 years of contacts and experience in the Scottish drinks industry to his role as Sales Managing Director, the ‘dream job’ he was appointed to in 2011" His connections in the drinks trade might be useful but essentially he seems to have been some kind of super salesman who rose through the ranks to the top job. and this http://www.thedrum.com/news/2012/09/07/tennents-announces-senior-commercial-promotions-john-gilligan-named-managing

EGM poll 2 (AGAINST removals/appointments)
BrahimHemdani replied to Bluedell's topic in Rangers Chat
Perhaps a lesson has been learned here because the confusion could have been avoided if it had been possible to have FOR and AGAINST buttons beside each resolution. The current system works if it is a straight multiple choice like the date of the next Gersnet Dinner, for example (now that's a thought); but not where a YES/NO is required. Admin? -

That would be you and WHO else, Andy? -
I liked what I saw although he looked a bit lazy at times, I think it was just match sharpness he's lacking. I think he'll do very well for us.
-
I was wondering if some of them arrived very early or slunk in a side door; otherwise there would have been no Rangers Directors to welcome the Raith Rovers Directors to the Board Room before, during or after the match. Utterly disgraceful.

Don't they mean advice from the Police?
-
I quite agree. It is also worth noting the shocking abuse of commas as in the first two sentences before "and" and the use of that coordinating conjunction to begin at least one other sentence, though the legitimacy of that style is subject of much debate.

I am happy to say that I did not advise anyone to invest in Arch Cru (and no doubt lost a lot of business as a result) because I found the claims in their brochure factually inaccurate and generally unbelievable. In addition I did not have a high opinion of their Scottish rep. I found it very hard to believe that any self-respecting and knowledgeable IFA would have advised a client to invest those Funds. I am glad that you were able to reach a settlement with your IFA (who no doubt claimed against his PI Insurance) albeit after a long battle. At least this proves that the system works for some people.

I wouldn't go near them with a sanitised barge pole. They were the authorised corporate director of the Arch Cru funds and "The £32million that Capita contributed to the £54million (compensation) deal was, we now know, only possible because the Capita parent company wrote the cheque." Read more: http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/investing/article-2241432/RICHARD-DYSON-FSAs-dirty-deal-lets-Capita-hook-Arch-Cru-investment-scandal.html#ixzz3R4lzZmXD Follow us: @MailOnline on Twitter | DailyMail on Facebook The £32million that Capita contributed to the £54 million deal was, we now know, only possible because the Capita parent company wrote the cheque." Very briefly and avoiding the technicalities, Arch Cru offered what they stated were low risk investments that were actually very high risk and the securities behind them were of little or no value. Capita were found partly responsible as it was held to have been their duty to spot this kind of thing and it wasn't difficult. That said I have no evidence to suggest that they wouldn't count votes properly.

This is the classic dilemma of those whose views and the views of those they represent are clearly opposed to the powers that be. Is it better to fight the good fight from within, where it is aruable that you can have more influence; or make your point by resigning and be better able to express your views. Recent statements have shown that the RFB have big cajones and it is arguable that they are challenging the Club Board to sack them all (especially the comment "The RFB were deliberately misled about the date of the EGM"), which would be PR disaster for the Club. I admire the way they are going about this now but if it is shown to be ineffectual then they really do have decisons to make.

OK I see that now, apologies. I think what has happened is that I have you in my phone contacts for the GN Dinner with full name and pseudonym (as all the others) and because I also have gmail in my phone it has picked it up from there even although it is a separate conact list; or perhaps vice versa because gmail picks up the phone contacts as well. So I do apologise, I guess that's modern technology. That said, as you mentioned, I don't believe that your identity is a secret and apart from GN, it is most certainly known on RM & FF. I also wonder if this type of comment would not be better restricted to a PM or personal email, particularly as the exposure was only seen by the recipients of the email (I spent some time fruitlessly looking for it in my posts on here) as I am sure your intention was no more to embarrass me, than mine was to expose your identity. And I'll save you the trouble of saying I embarrassed myself, but I don't think that's really the case in this instance.

The first comment yes, as I said fitness could be his get out; but not the second which seems to refer to performance. But overall the weight of evidence supports the press conference version.
-
WHO do I believe? I believe McDowall's press conference version because I don't think he's clever enough to lie or stand up to that degree of questioning.
-
I agree he was quite specific under repeated questioning but these comments appear contradictory.

Good idea Zappa I'll try one a day.

Does anyone know if there is any history of Rangers AGM being held outside the Glasgow area? I recall it being held Braehead Arena one time but that's all I can think off.
