I'm certainly fighting hard to get transparency on one particular issue at the moment (and no I'm not going to tell you what it is, drat that's lack of transparency but I have my reasons) and if I'm successful I'll be sure to let you know in due course. I don't know the inner workings of any group at the moment except the RFB and I'm not so sure of that either, so I really couldn't say.

I'm sure you've read the new rules Zappa: 1 © (ii) All admins who do not attend are automatically deducted 10 points in the Prediction league and fined £19.50 to the drink kitty (£20 for cash). -
I do apologise that I actually had to spend a short amount of time working today; but I have answered your questions now before you have to add colour to the bold print.

You're beginning to sound like the Spanish Inquisition T4C. But before you get out the evil instruments I give in: I suggested it at a Rangers AGM some years ago and also co-authored an article on it that was published here at the beginning of last season if memory serves me. No doubt you can find it easily enough. Perhaps the directors' research is as good as yours. Anyway thanks for highlighting that paragraph which demonstrates clearly that my view has been consistent for some time.

Whilst I have tried to explain why SB has the proposal wrong, I agree wholeheartedly with this suggestion. On a personal level I have already offered to attend any RSA meeting where the subject of away tickets is discussed and indeed I have offered to attend individual branch or group meetings or travel on buses (at my own peril!) to try to get feedback and answer any questions. Indeed I could a good ear bashing on Tuesday. I am more than happy to promote this collectively.

NO I have not stated any such thing. There is no such proposal so far as I am aware. The proposal was that the Board do not communicate directly in future with unelected leaders of groups. At the last meeting it was agreed to put this to the directors. As I was at great pains to point out there are a number of groups who have properly elected leaders who would not be excluded by the proposal. I agree with the proposal and I have also explained why I agree with it.

If you have read through the thread you will know that I have never made any such suggestion.

Your basic premise is correct: The RFB’s objects are: (a) To provide the Members with a voice and communication channel directly to the Club in respect of the direction of the Club (abbreviated for list) (b) To improve communication between the Club and Members; to represent the views of the Club’s supporters; to encourage and assist the Club; and to take proper account of the interest and views of the supporters of the Club. © To provide the Members with an open forum in order that all Members can express their opinions in a clear and structured manner to the Club. (d) To represent and communicate on behalf of the greatest possible cross section of Members. Nothing that I have said about the directors future communication policy takes anything away from that at all; and furthermore it is a decision for the directors not the RFB.

The best way that I can answer that is by quoting from the statement I published here on 21 September. I have followed Rangers for more than 50 years and watched them play in 21 countries in Europe; but I have never been more proud than being elected to this position. It is a truly humbling experience. I will do my level best to justify the confidence that has been placed in me. Whilst I have been elected in the “Fans who attend away games” category and certainly will represent their interests, I will play my part in presenting issues and concerns to the Club from the wider fanbase. I am determined to ensure that it is a valuable source of two-way communication between fans and the Club. I have derived a great deal of pleasure and not a few heartaches from following Rangers throughout my life and I genuinely want to put something back for the benefit of fans and the Club I love. I stood for election because I thought that I had the relevant knowledge and experience to do the job, knowing full well that I would get a lot of brickbats. I assume I was elected on the strength of my CV compared with the other candidates in my category. However, I must admit that I have been a bit overwhelmed by some of the criticism. Nonetheless I have tried to answer just about all the points that have been raised. I'm not sure what else I can say or do.

Because I do not know the mechanics of every group or indeed any group of which I am not a member and am not prepared to go on hearsay. I have stated that I support the principal I am not going any further than that.

I will not be making any specific recommendation about any group. I don't think I can be clear than that.

No you didn't but your dissected my post and made you comment about the suggestion, immediately below where I said "On the other hand persons who claim to lead a group but who had not stood in an election or where there had not been an election for more than say 2 or 3 years, may have somewhat less legitimacy, if any legitimacy at all. I hope this helps clarify my view." So I would suggest that most people would have read your comment to mean that the suggestion came from me. Let's not get into a public slanging match about matters that we have agreed are not well reported in the Minutes.

Thanks for that compliment, FS. Personally, I am not very comfortable with 13.3 which I could see leading to all sorts of difficulties.

NO, BD I am not saying any of that. Again, I would respectfully refer you to #277 where I said "Also whilst I think that a constitution is the best basis for an election, it isn't absolutely essential; so long as there are clear and transparent rules governing an election. " That is my personal opinion. I would also respectfully refer you to #304 on the subject of public meetings, I was very clear that "I would make them open to any fan".
