  1. Not sure about the wine in beer glasses but consult Charltonman on that, he's a bit of a connoiseur.
  2. I will make sure there will be plenty of chicken tapas and you can fish the chicken out of the Paella de Montaña
  3. These are two of my favourites too and from memory the Pescado en Adobe certainly was on the menu last time and went down very well. Just a point for the unitiated, as I said in reply to BD there will be approx 8-10 servings of say 6-8 different tapas and it will be a help yourself to what is put on the table, there are no individual orders as such. What happened last time was that they brought all the servings of say 2-3 different tapas at a time.
  4. I remember walking across the border at Tijuana years ago. There were NO guards or any customs officials on the Mexican side - all welcome. Bit different when you fly into Mexico City these days but I don't think the red light goes on too often.
  5. Again please consult the menu and if any particular items take your fancy please post and I'll see what I can do. Got to keep our new customers happy especially the site owner
  6. Again please consult the menu and if any particular pescados take your eye please post and I'll see what I can do. Got to keep new customers happy especially admins
  7. There will be plenty of non fish options but if there are any tapas you particularly fancy please post and I'll see what I can do. Got to keep our new customers happy
  8. Sorry to disappoint you again but I know EXACTLY what you meant and if you are having such mental images I suggest you might need professional help. In any event I think it's time this thread was closed. Perhaps admin could oblige.
  9. I think you may be referring to Tom Clements. I am sorry to disappoint you but the last place I would be found would be in Mr Clements' pocket as I am confident he would confirm.
  10. I think you may have misunderstood. The basis is 3 tapas per person but there will be 6-8 different tapas. So there will be approx 10-11 servings of 6-8 different tapas. One paella serves about 4-6 people, so we will probably start with 3-4 and see how it goes. We are having a selection from just about everything on the menu. It worked well last time and I don't think you'll be disappointed. If you are you can remove me from office without due process.
  11. It wasn't a very subtle question Zappa, your follow up was pretty obvious, but apologies for the delay in posting.
  12. Only 9 days to go so it's menu time at Malaga Tapas Ranked #19 of 1,807 Restaurants in Glasgow http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186534-d1087980-Reviews-Malaga_Tapas-Glasgow_Scotland.html The tables will be set with a selection of Spanish cured meats and cheese. Then as last time there will be at least 6-8 different tapas, x3 per person so if anyone has any particular tapas favourites on the menu http://malagatapas.co.uk/menu/ please post here and Cristobal will do his best to oblige. Most likely we will have 2 or 3 selections from each of the Carnes (Meats), Pescados (Fish), Verduras (Vegetables), & Aves (Poultry - Chicken) tapas. We will definitely be having the three different paellas featured on the menu: Paella de Mariscos - This is a typical seafood Paella with prawns, mussels squid and white fish Paella Valenciana - A Valencian style Paella with a mix of chicken and seafood Paella de Montaña - Delicious Paella with a combination of chicken and dry-cured chorizo and if there are any vegetarians or anyone specifically wants: Paella de Verduras - Vegetarian Paella with a fresh selection of vegetables I will arrange that as well. If you have room you can choose from any of the desserts on the board which will definitely include Malaaga Tapas famed, fired at the table crema catalan (creme brulee) - to die for. Still 2 or 3 seats left but I must have final numbers by Sunday 10.00am latest.
  13. Dangerous place, Mexico 11 burned bodies found in Mexico http://myfox8.com/2014/11/27/11-burned-bodies-found-in-mexico/
  14. RIP Arthur Montford: the commentator, the jacket, the legend Gary Johnston Blogger . Thursday 27 November 2014 Late 1973. Scotland, who haven't qualified for a major international final in living memory, play Czechoslovakia in a winner-takes-all World Cup decider. It was live on STV and Arthur Montford was the commentator. Everyone liked Arthur. Saying you didn't like Arthur would be saying you didn't like football. Ridiculous. Taking the piss out of him, now that was another matter. Taking the piss? No, that's too harsh. It suggests 'making a mug out of', 'ripping to shreds' . You didn't - couldn't - do that to Arthur, it wouldn't be right, you liked him too much. It was an affectionate sort-of piss-take. Affectionate, with a capital Arthur. 'Up go the heads'. More or less every corner that was ever given, especially in any game with even the hint of a bit of dig in it. 'Stramash'. A word that otherwise would have faded from the Scottish vernacular, were it not for Arthur. A stramash was the perfect descriptive noun for a mud-strewn guddle in the penalty box when the bodies were flying and the blood was up. A stramash was what penalty boxes were made for. The other reason it was hard to resist Arthur was the fact that he was a fan. A Morton fan admittedly, which made it easier for him to assimilate; his real love was for the national team. And never was Arthur's passion more on show than the night we took on Czechoslovakia. I can still hear Arthur as we went one down. 'It's a shot - and it's a good one - and it's a goal! Disaster for Scotland!' In reality it was poorly hit and should have been easy meat for our goalie to swallow. Did Arthur mention the shocking blunder? Of course not, he was a fan. 'The ball eluded his grasp!' Then we got a corner. Up went the heads and big Jim Holton, our centre half and resident enforcer nodded it in. Arthur went bonkers. 'A beautiful header - up, under the crossbar - and it's 1-1!' At this point, any notion of even handedness, of any fair minded let-the-best-team win impartiality would have been considered absurd. Arthur was Scottish, the team was Scottish and so were we. What's the problem there, pal? (Had it been an England commentator on an England game of course, we'd have been screaming 'biased b******s' but then that's just the way we Scots are.) And then. A shot from the right by Billy Bremner hits the post. Not cleared properly, it's crossed back in to be met on the six-yard box by big Joe Jordan. Goal. Arthur speaks for every watching fan in Scotland. 'Still dangerous, Morgan flicks it across, Jordan… It's there, Jordan scores!! Magnificent, superb goal. The keeper can't reach it. Superb header, the ball's in the net and it's 2-1! Magnificent Scotland! Magnificent!' Arthur was our pal, our fellow supporter, one of us. As the game ran down and Scotland fought to hold their lead, Arthur was running on straight passion alone. 'Come on Denis, come on now Denis', he implored as the Lawman bore in on goal, 'Watch your back Willie', as Morgan looked to be losing possession. And then the final whistle. 'The referee is looking at his watch. And that's it! Well done Scotland. Well done boys!' Seriously, who couldn't love that? Of course there was more to Arthur than just one game. His very familiarity was totally comforting, like - and in a good way - part of the furniture. He even gave his name to a type of jacket. The Arthur Montford. Even today, to men of a certain age, a hound's tooth jacket is and always will be: 'An Arthur Montford'. Arthur loved his Scottish football, that's for sure. For a few years he was Scottish football - TV football at any rate. He was a part of my life - our lives - people - primarily men of my generation. A big part, mostly a good part, sometimes a great part. As legacies go, that's not a bad one. http://www.heraldscotland.com/comment/columnists/rip-arthur-montford-the-commentator-the-jacket-the-legend.1417098415
  15. The November edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking reveals very little change in the top ten, with the top seven positions unaltered from last month and world champions Germany still out in front ahead of Argentina and Colombia. France, however, are now in joint seventh place together with Portugal (7th, up 2). In the top 20, England (13th, up 7), Romania (15th, up 6) and Czech Republic (17th, up 5) have all made good progress. Guinea (38th, up 17) have climbed into the top 50 on the back of two victories in CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2015 qualifiers, as have Mali (49th, up 9), with their rise coming at the expense of Trinidad and Tobago (54th, down 5) and Egypt (60th, down 22). As a result, the regional composition of the top 50 has shifted slightly in favour of Africa (10 teams, up 1). With the exception of CONCACAF (3 teams in the top 50, down 1), there are no other changes to the number of top 50 teams of the other confederations (UEFA: 31; CONMEBOL: 6; AFC: 0; OFC: 0). Further down the ranking, the Faroe Islands (105th, up 82) have made considerable progress thanks to their surprise victory over Greece (25th, down 7) in the UEFA EURO 2016 qualifiers. The other teams to have climbed more than 20 places are Jamaica (71st, up 42), Cuba (79th, up 33), San Marino (180th, up 28), Haiti (68th, up 25), Liechtenstein (130th, up 25), and Thailand (144th, up 21). For San Marino, their draw with Estonia - also in the EURO 2016 qualifiers - sees them climb off the bottom of the table for the first time in six-and-a-half years. A total of 150 new 'A' international matches have been taken into account for the November edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking, bringing the total number of matches evaluated in 2014 to 817. Sixty-one of these matches were part of continental qualifiers in Europe, Africa and the CONCACAF region, with the other 89 being friendly matches. http://www.fifa.com/fifa-world-ranking/news/y=2014/m=11/news=england-close-in-on-top-ten-2479554.html?cid=newsletter_en_20141127_newsid Scotland are up 1 to 36th but behind Israel, Iceland, Wales and Senegal and only marginally ahead of Ghana, Guinea and the Cape Verde Islands. Mohsni's Tunisia are up 9 places to 22nd, their highest ranking for 16 years after qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations by beating Egypt 2-1 and drawing 0-0 with Botswana; whilst Peralta's (remember him?) Honduras are down 3 places to 72nd their lowest ranking for 16 years after their 6-0 loss to Japan (where he was used as a sub) and 0-0 draw with China (where he started in CMF and was subbed).
  16. I understand that congratulations are in order to Gary Gillan, President of NARSA, who has been elected unopposed as Secretary of Rangers Fans Board.
