  1. This point has exercised my mind today, thanks. I certainly don't want it to appear that Gersnet is the only forum available for such thoughts. However, bear in mind that it is very early days and the email address is not yet available; mind you that might be a good reason to post elsewhere. I am barred from FF BTW. I'll PM you if that's OK.
  2. I spoke to Rev McQuarrie in his capacity as the Chair of the Nominations Committee because a number of people on here raised doubts about the election process and questions were directed at me specifcially that I couldn't answer e.g. at #242 Bearger questioned if the process was democratic and shoredbear and others raised questions in a number of posts about those whose names had gone forward. I wanted to be sure of the facts before I answered. You have quoted the answers. I have spoken to Rev McQuarrie again just now. He has asked me to say that if anyone has any suggestion of impropriety or discrimination in the election or any other concern about the process, he will be happy to clarify or investigate as required. In the circumstances I will not be making any further comment about the election process.
  3. For anyone who isn't already aware, I have been elected to the Rangers Fans Board to represent fans who attend away matches. Rangers are creating email addresses for direct contact with the Fans Board Members but they will not be live until after the first meeting on 6 October. In the short term if anyone has any particular issues or concerns that affect “fans who attend away matches”, can they please post them here. I said that “I will arrange an early meeting with Susan Hannah”, the Ticket Office Manager. I have kept this promise. The meeting will take place on Monday when I will try to get answers to any immediate concerns. TB has already raised a number of points: Possible profiteering by charging Rangers fans higher than normal prices. I responded that “I think that there is a league rule about that but there will be ways round it I'm sure. I did notice at Alloa that £18/£9 was posted at the away gates and that is what we were charged, well I was anyway, not quite old enough for a concession.” Children’s ticket availability and pricing. I replied that “If that is a league issue I will pursue with Mr Doncaster.” Small allocations and how to divide between supporters’ buses and those who travel independently. If anyone has recent evidence of any of these situations can they please post here or PM me as appropriate. SB commented about “the variables Ulster Bears must contend with and the size of support travelling over for home games”. This is not my constituency per se but I responded that “If you have an issue that relates to travelling or attending or otherwise is relevant to away matches please let me know”. STB commented about “the short notice between being allocated a game and the payment getting taken.” I replied that “I think the issue is the short notice Rangers often get from the other Clubs and the fact that they need to collect and pay for the tickets within a certain period.” More information on any of the above issues would be helpful and feel free to add anything else. On a more general note, I have taken on board the comments about the categories and would welcome any other comments about organisational issues since these will be discussed at the first meeting.
  4. I cannot say that for certain as none of the candidates were privy to the process but as far as I have been led to believe the opposite is the case. I was given an example of a person whose CV was selected by the NC but when his name appeared on the ballot the Club had to ask him to stand down as he had a commercial relationship with the Club. It was put to me that if the Club had pre-selected then that person's CV would not have gone to the NC. I would also reiterate that apart from me, there is at least one person whose CV you might think would have gone straight in the bin if there had been any pre-selection, his name went forward and he has been elected. Zappa, can I just say again that whilst I am doing my best to answer these legitimate questions everything to do with the election process is a matter for the Nomination Committee and ultimately the Club. I followed the process set out to apply for the fans board, my name was put forward by the NC and I was elected by a substantial majority. I believe the entire process was fair and above board. But I was not and am not responsible for that process, and I would like to get on with the job, if I might be allowed to do that.
  5. This is a thread about the Fans Board; I'm not getting into a debate about the plc Board or football club board on here. I have made my position about that abundantly clear on numerous occasions.
  6. Rangers haven't publicised that. All I know is that I got 49% of the votes in my category and won by a 22% margin.
  7. As have said, I agree that there are some categories that I personally find surprising and perhaps there are others that could have been included and I am encouraged that you and many others are at least prepared to give it a chance.
  8. It demonstrates that fans are interested in engagement with the Club, something that has been on the agenda for many people for a long time. I don't think anyone would argue that the RFB as it stands is perfect, but for goodness sake it hasn't even met yet. Please give it a chance, I don't think anyone would ask for any more at this point.
  9. I wouldn't necessarily disagree with that point of view but obviously the Club had to start it off somehow. However, I don't agree with the implication that is in any way illegitimate. I am sure it will develop over time and that the inaugral board will have a significant impact on that. I have already persauded the Club to change its mind on how the email addresses will be formatted, a small point perhaps bit it shows they are listening and that their views are not set in stone.
  10. I have answered your point about Mr Wallace and see no point in repeating myself. I have not been "part of a number of committees pertaining to club matters in recent times". The only committee I have been on in a Rangers context was the Board of RST and that was in 2010. I have met David Hannah and David Martin on European trips and I assume you agree that they are not influential within the Club. Many other people will have met them at different times for different reasons. That does not affect the RFB IMHO. Given the number of issues I have raised with the Club over many years, I very much doubt that I would have been top of their list of preferred candidates and the same applies to at least one other party that I can think of. So the answer to your second question is NO. So far as I am aware, Rangers did not select or deselect anyone before the Nomination Committee stage and the five supporters on the NC were selected by the company that organised the focus groups not RFC. I don't think there is anything more that I can usefully add on this aspect of the RFB but if you still have doubts about the process then please PM me and I'll give you the name of the person at Rangers to whom you should adress any further enquiries.
  11. One thing I notice is that with almost 6,500 views this is one of the most read threads of recent times on here, more even than the " official manager" thread. This at least suggests to me that interest in the RFB is high, which is surely a good thing.
  12. The group that I have been elected to represent is "fans who attend away matches". This would include fans who attend such matches from NI, NA or wherever they are based. It would not include fans from NI or NA when they attend home matches. There is an "overseas" category to represent those folks and indeed that representative could also raise particular issues from that group for away matches or any other concerns. I gave the example yesterday of a disabled/ young/female/ethnic minority fan who lives in the Govan area attending an away match, which would come into a lot of categories. If any particular group feels they should have been represented but are not, then they are free to raise that issue. I have no doubt that the question of the categories will be discussed by the RFB and indeed I have already discussed it with the Club. Ultimately, however, the categories have been and will be set by the Club so I would suggest that that is where representations should be made in the first instance. That said we have 12 categories which is a very large Board, some might say too large; but they had to start somewhere. I am sure it will be refined and developed over time.
  13. For the avoidance of any doubt whatsoever in this matter I would like to stress that my meeting with Mr Wallace was after I was advised that the Nominations Committee had decided to put my name forward for the Election. I would also repeat that the subject of the meeting was an entirely unrelated personal matter which I do not propose to discuss on here. I would also suggest that there might be as many reasons why Rangers would have rejected an application from me or certain others, who they might regard as trouble makers. Perhaps you can think of at least one such person who was put forward by the Nominations Committee and subsequently elected. One of the candidates represents the Corporate Group; I think it would be fair to assume that he is known to "influential" people within the Club, perhaps including Mr Wallace? Another states inter alia "Over the last 30 years I have been involved with many organisations/ charities both as a board member and in most cases as Chairman. These include; The Walter Smith Testimonial Committee (Chairman), The Mark Hateley Testimonial Committee (Chairman). In Variety Scotland terms I have chaired dinners for the late Davie Cooper, Ally McCoist, Lord Attenborough and Walter Smith." Yet another is the President of NARSA. I think it would be fair to make the same assumptions about these people, would you not agree? Does any of the above prove that Rangers influenced the Nominations Committee, no it does not. I would suggest that if you have any evidence of interference by Rangers you bring it forward now otherwise desist from these vague and generalised insinuations.
  14. There are those on here and elsewhere who do not consider Mr Wallace to be influential within the Club.
  15. I will do but I think the issue is the short notice Rangers often get from the other Clubs and the fact that they need to collect and pay for the tickets within a certain period.
  16. I have met Mr Wallace once on an entirely unrelated personal matter. I have not met any other current directors of Rangers IFC or FC. To answer more fully I would need to know who you consider to be influential; but I have met David Martin, Head of Security, David Hannah, the Supporters Liaison Officer, and Susan Hannah, the Ticket Office Manager on several occasions. Personally I would not regard any of them as influential within the Club.
  17. I think you know what would be an appropriate isssue and what would not. I will represent any approriate issues directly concerning fans who attend away matches. If you have an issue that relates to travelling or attending or otherwise is relevant to away matches please let me know; if you have an issue with the fact that NI does not have it's own category on the Board that is not a matter for me it is a matter for Rangers.
  18. I don't know who pays for the trip, if you do, please enlighten us. Whether you voted for me or not; if you have an issue relating to the "away fans" category please let me know once the email addresses are published and I will do my best to help.
  19. These are the people who have been elected, you might want to consider standing your self next time. There are also two people who have been H&SO's and two young people, one representing the Women's category. I suggest you direct these legitimate questions to Rev Stuart McQuarrie who was the Chair of the Nomination Committee. All I can tell you is that I do not know and have never to my knowledge met any of the members of the Nomination Committee. The first time I spoke to Rev McQuarrie was yesterday.
  20. I said "maybe". I doing know anything about NARSA's politics so I'm not getting involved in that. All I know about it is that they have a about 28 Clubs and I believe 2,000 -3,000 members and an annual convention that Rangers seem to think is important enough for management, players and directors to attend. All I said was that the categories should be looked at in future. I would suggest you write to the Club about your concerns on representation for NI.
  21. YES 19.Minutes 19.1 The Secretary shall ensure that minutes are made of all proceedings at all meetings of the RFB, any sub-committee, and any meetings involving the RFB. In the absence of the Secretary, the Chairman shall nominate another Elected Representative to take minutes. 19.2 A minute of any meeting shall include the names of those present, a note of all votes taken, outcomes, any relevant notes of discussions and (as far as possible) shall be signed by the Chairman or chairperson of the meeting. 19.3 The minutes of any meetings outlined in clause 20.1 shall be publicised to the Members on fansboard.rangers.co.uk and/or http://www.rangers.co.uk within 14 days following each meeting. The Club shall arrange for the publication on the website. 19.4 The Secretary shall be responsible for maintaining an accurate record of all Minutes and when retiring or removed from office, submitting said records to RFB, or in the absence of any Elected Representatives, the Club.
  22. I think that is a fair shout, perhaps it is unfair to lob NI in with "overseas"; maybe there should have been a NARSA category and an "other overseas" category. As I said I'm sure that will be developed in future.
