  1. Understood, well nearly. Is your daughter coming to the dinner or does she have better things to do? Obviously accommodation is a personal call, can I suggest that you PM some of those who have indicated that they will attend to ascertain what the feeling is about carrying on after 7.30pm. I think we will know a week or so ahead of time, whether or not we will be able to stay longer in the restaurant, failing which as rbr says there are plenty of pubs in Shawlands or the city centre.
  2. He told me the story about being offered double the money to sign for Clyde I think it was (£200 v £100/week, or something like that) but signed for us because he had given his word; those were the days.
  3. Good question. The owner of the restaurant wants the tables available for those who might want to book for Saturday dinner; hence the 7.30pm shut off. However, I think it will all depend on how many bookings they have. Usually they are full or near full on a Saturday night; however, they are expanding next door so it is hard to say. If they don't need the tables and folks want to stay and drink I can't see that he'll object; also there is a pub (The old Honours Three, can't remember new name) a couple of doors down. However if you're driving that won't concern you, I'm sure! Hope that helps.
  4. Much obliged for your confidence and that of others. I will set up a separate online deposit account if for no other reason than I don't want to co-mingle the dinner money with my own funds (it's just the way my financial mind works!) and I'll PM the details as you suggest.
  5. I've realised that I can make it even less complicated. If everyone is happy for me to hold the money then I can open a new online savings account with Barclays where I am already an online customer and then I won't have any problem posting the account details here so that folks can pay in directly. I will be able to print and scan the online statement and post here and since BD sits a few rows down from me if he is agreeable I can show a hard copy to him and he can post verification; or I could physically display it to anyone else who wants to see it. Is this acceptable?
  6. Yes I think most folks know who I am and what I look like. Thanks to you also for your confidence. Based on these comments and the relatively small numbers so far, unless there are any objections, I think what I'll do is PM folks with my current account details then set up an online deposit sub account to hold the money, which means I'll be able to show an account with all the deposits without setting up a fully fledged trust/treasuers account with two signatories which was going to be a bit of a pain to be honest. What I had in mind was to ask for a £9 deposit now and then the balance of £9 a week before the date; or of course folks can just pay the whole £18 up front. Any thoughts?
  7. Sorry just saw this post. I guess you saw my wanted poster in the prog on Sunday; somebody told me about it tonight. No worries; right now I'm debating whether or not it's worth setting up an account or if folks would trust me with their money. Popped into the restaurant just as they were closing tonight and Cristobal is happy with the initial response but obviously would like a few more. He says he will probably do at least half a dozen different tapas specially for us and at least 3 different paellas rather than 1or 2 big ones because he says the quality will be better. I am trying to recruit some of the guys who sit around me to sign up here and for the dinner. It would be nice if I could pop in on Saturday and report a few more bods. I can promise this is going to be a good night.
  8. The decision to reduce the capacity at Hampden (taken I think because of lottery funding as a multi disciplinary venue) was incredibly naïve from a football perspective. I may be wrong but I don't think we got more tickets for Manchester even though we had a massively bigger support than Zenit and much easier travel arrangements. In fact a great many season ticket holders did not get a ticket for that final; whereas I would think any Zenit fan who wanted to make the trip got a ticket. I don't think it's discriminatory to argue for a 50/50 share in a cup semi or final but I'm happy to agree that you can make a stronger argument the other way.
  9. The early decision to host both semis at Ibrox and the final at Parkhead was as unnecessary as it was perverse; and the result was equally predictable. A really stupid decision by the SFA IMO. The argument for ticket allocation can be made both ways. It is easy to argue that the allocation should be in proportion to average home attendances, season tickets or the like (perhaps with a certain minimum, say 25%) but it is equally easy to argue that in a cup semi or final the allocation to each team should be the same; why shouldn't the good folks of Dundee or Coatbridge if it comes to that, have a day out in Glasgow or Edinburgh for example. After that it's up to the clubs to convert them into regular fans. In general terms, I think it's quite hard to argue for a neutral venue and then say but you can't have 50% (or an equal share) of the tickets (if you can sell them). If you can't sell them then there's another big decision (as with Aberdeen this week) of do you offer them to the other team or do you say, you've got enough. There are probably no right or wrong answers and the issue is peculiar to Scotland (and possibly some other small countries) because the three biggest stadia are in Glasgow and two of them would not be regarded as neutral by either side of the old firm. It would never arise in England, for example, or countries such as Spain with no national stadium (where the Copa del Rey is a 2-leg affair anyway, possibly for that reason) , because apart from Wembley there are no end of possible venues and it's difficult to imagine a team reaching a final and not taking up their ticket allocation (which is only 25% for the FA cup final anyway, with the rest going to all the minor associations sponsors etc).
  10. Steak pies at least then, do you get them out Greggs (sorry couldn't resist that).
  11. But all 41,170 people who live in Coatbridge will want a ticket.
  12. Very worrying indeed.
  13. I meant "if" we win it tomorrow night; but good of you to confirm the champagne and canapés anyway. Heard there's a band too
  14. I heard it's free champagne and canapés all round if we win the league, Greg, nice one.
  15. Good man; not bad up to 9 now with AS a possible. Step right up a few places still available.
  16. Glad to sign you up, thanks. Have another look at the menu, I did provide English translations for those who no hablan español. Plenty of meat options; if you go to their web site http://www.malagatapas.co.uk/ you can check out the full menu and cerveza no es un problema.
  17. He's in London tomorrow and Glasgow on Friday, so we'll know soon enough.
  18. So far as I know that's a YES. I have been in touch with the President of NARSA and others have been in touch with other fans groups in Australia and Germany to my knowledge. RA stated last night that he has even had requests to make the web page translatable into other languages. The main thing now is for everyone to text or email or Tweet or FB whatever all their friends to spread the word far and wide.
