  1. Quite so. Glad you changed the subject I must admit that when I started to write that post I thought the Ramsdens Final was at Hampden but fortunately double checked. Hopefully I'll live long enough to see us back at Hampden and perhaps also a double or dare one dream for a treble. I'm not so sure of getting my current 32 European trips up to my target of 50; although there are plenty older than me, I'm catching up fast as Phil says to Don Everly.
  2. OK I can see we are getting into deep water here. This is in the context of the SFA Rules in relation to being fit and proper, where the type of offences that are caught are those which would be liable to a prison term of 24 months or more. I would draw the same line as the SFA.
  3. I didn't compare him to the Easdales. I just don't want ANY convicted criminal (or perhaps I should say anyone who has been convicted of a criminal offence or known associates) having anything to do with our club.
  4. Obviously there to show off his natty line in headgear.
  5. I won't be marching to Hampden but it might be worth someone asking the SFA the question about whether a major sponsor would come into the category of someone who "(iii) has any power whatsoever to influence the management or administration of a club (and therefore) may not take up any such role with another club until such time as the Scottish FA is reasonably satisfied that such person has ceased to hold such role in the first club." I remember when I was refereeing the juniors and a certain young man by the name of Nardini, who honestly couldn't kick a ball, started every game on the right wing for Largs Thistle, who were sponsored by, yes you've guessed it, a certain ice cream parlour not a million miles from Barrfields Park.
  6. Now, if you had one like that dated on or after 9 July 2013...................................................................
  7. That's interesting because: SFA Articles of Association 13.2 Except with the prior written consent of the Board, any person who (i) is a member of a club, (ii) is involved in any capacity whatsoever in the management or administration of a club or (iii) has any power whatsoever to influence the management or administration of a club may not take up any such role with another club until such time as the Scottish FA is reasonably satisfied that such person has ceased to hold such role in the first club. and before I get a knock on the door or a lawyer's letter, once again just stating a fact and not implying anything at all.
  8. How can Darren Cole be on loan? I thought we sacked him?
  9. I'll do Arbroath but only if Dave King isn't coming over for the game.
  10. OK I admit it; I don't like Dave King any more than I like the Easdales but I can assure you that the next time I'm marching to Hampden, it will be to see Rangers in a Cup Final
  11. Fair point and I have heard some in recent months.
  12. On a serious note then; is there any known relationship between the Easdales and Morton?
  13. Especially if you put coffee in your teapot as Continental Airlines used to do; it tastes awful and you get swallowed up by United. Just silliness, I'll stop now PS: #45 was written and posted before I read yours, I am suitably chastened; although in my defence it wasn't me who started the DK thing again here.
  14. Hello Mr Lawwell, Dave King here, Dave King remember me I invested a heap of money in Rangers, I was wondering if you could help me with a little problem I might have..........................................
  15. Interesting slant on it; but ultimately it is not Regan's decision.
  16. and you belive that implicitly? I think that is just his opinion, I don't think it's been tested. The SFA would not discuss it in advance with him; they would only take the information from the club at the time an application is made or report submitted. Of course, as you rightly pointed out it's no problem at all if he doesn't want to be a director.
  17. I don't think it IS quite the same. This is not a fine with a jail term if you don't pay; it was an either or; and one of the "eithers" was prison for 24 months and it seems to me that falls foul of the rule; but time may well tell and I'll stand to be corrected if I'm wrong. On thing is sure, the SFA in the form of Mr Regan will not let Dave King's lawyers give them the runaround same as Whyte's squad did. When that happened Regan was less than a year in the job and very unsure of his ground; he won't let that happen again.
  18. We should campaign to bring it back in all its original glory. Much more chance of that than Sack the Board ,SPIVS OUT etc
  19. That's true, but I would respectfully suggest that you are missing the point. The SFA Rule says an offence "liable to imprisonment of two years or over". My interpretation is that the conviction rendered him liable to go to prison. He had the choice of "a fine of R80 000.00 or 24 months' imprisonment on each of the 41 counts,". The fact that he chose to pay the fine doesn't change the fact he was liable to go to prison; well at least that's how I view it, I could be wrong. No it wouldn't unless the prison term was 24 months or more.
  20. You are 100% correct in your second assertion, the SFA cannnot stop King investing in Rangers if he chooses to do so without becoming a director. However, I beg leave to differ and I know we will not agree on the first point (and that many others agree with you) which was well argued here http://www.gersnetonline.co.uk/vb/showthread.php?59652-Dave-King-A-Criminal. These are the facts upon which I base my opinion. SFA Articles of Association http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/SFAPublications/ScottishFAPublications2012-13/SFA_HANDBOOK_53-136_Articles_of_Association.pdf 10.2 Official Return The Board must be satisfied that any such person (official, office-bearer, secretary, director or member of the board of management or committee of such member and of its or his associates as defined in Article 13.5 in any other member.) is fit and proper to hold such position within Association Football. The Board hereby reserves its discretion as to whether or not such a person is fit and proper, as aforesaid, after due consideration of all relevant facts which the Board has in its possession and knowledge, including the undernoted list which is acknowledged to be illustrative and not exhaustive: (h) he has been convicted within the last 10 years of (i) an offence liable to imprisonment of two years or over, (ii) corruption or (iii) fraud; (j) he has been a director of a club in membership of any National Association within the 5-year period preceding such club having undergone an insolvency event; The State versus David Cunningham King (Case No: CC 257/2005) Statement issued by Bulelwa Makeke, Executive Manager: Communications, National Prosecuting Authority, August 29 2013 Our sentence agreement with Dave King - NPA Authority says businessman entered a plea of guilty on 41 counts of contravening Section 75 of the Income Tax Act http://www.politicsweb.co.za/politic...tail&pid=71616 Mr David Cunningham King, the accused in the case of The State versus DC King (Case no.: CC257/2005 - otherwise referred to as the King 1 case), today entered a plea of guilty in the South Gauteng High Court held at Palm Ridge, on 41 counts of various contraventions of section 75 of the Income Tax Act 58 of 1962, as per the indictment. The said plea is in accordance with a plea and sentence agreement in terms of section 105A(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977, entered into between the accused and the National Prosecuting Authority. The High Court was satisfied that the aforesaid agreement complied with the requirements of the provisions of section 105A(1) of the Criminal Procedure Act, that the accused admitted the allegations in the above-mentioned counts and that he was guilty of the offences. The Court was moreover satisfied that the sentence agreement was just, whereupon the Court proceeded to convict the accused of the offences and sentenced the accused in accordance with the sentence agreement. In terms of the agreement, the accused was sentenced to a fine of R80 000.00 or 24 months' imprisonment on each of the 41 counts, being the maximum sentence provided for in the Income Tax Act read with the Adjustment of Fines Act 101 of 1991. The effective sentence, as confirmed in the agreement, is a fine of R3 280 000.00 or 984 months (82 years) imprisonment. The accused has, moreover, agreed to pay to the Criminal Assets Recovery Account ("CARA") the amount of R8.75 million as contemplated in section 64(e) of Act 121 of 1998. This payment will be effected within 30 days of the plea agreement having been finalised today. Therefore it seems clear to me that Mr King would fall foul of 10.2 (h) because he has been convicted on not one but 41 counts of an offence liable to imprisonment of two years or over; and in any event he falls foul of 10.2 (h) because he was a director of Rangers when it went into administration in February 2012.
  21. I am not (quite) old enough to have been in Wolverhampton but for me Rangers on the road was nowhere more typified than by the long rousing crescendo of a chorus on the steep banks of the Mestalla that so astonished the directors of Valencia that they stood taking pictures of us for half an hour as we sung and sung after being well beaten in 2010. As to more recent events there is many a hotelier and shopkeeper not to mention the treasurers of clubs from Peterhead to Forres, Elgin, Forfar and Brechin who have benefited from those who follow follow. I just wish that one heard that song more often.
  22. Like "Rangers" perhaps?
  23. It is worth noting that although Wallace apparently has an excellent CV the circumstances of his leaving Manchester City are shrouded in mystery and he was unemployed at the time Rangers approached him or he applied for the job. That said if he tackles the overspending he will be seen in good light by the institutional investors. The share price appears to have bottomed and Crichton just bought 60,000 at 34p. Expect a new share issue at around 30p/share at the end of the 120 day planning period. King will not be approached by the current Board. He would want a seat on the Board and (a) they don't want him and (b) he cannot satisfy the SFA "fit and proper" rules so can't be a director in any event.
  24. Agreed. Of all the youths, Mackay has shown the most natural talent IMHO. It is a sad reflection that we seem unable to develop that talent.
  25. Mackay needs games if he is going to develop and he obviously isn't going to get them at Ibrox right now. First of many methinks.
