  1. Because the information I had from Focus concerned the early operation of the Act when they gave numerous instances of fans of other Clubs being arrested. I am no longer in a position to get this information, however if you are correct that an increasing number of non-Rangers fans have been targeted then I would expect the stats to show that.
  2. Actually it's about 0.029%, your a decimal point out but it's still a tiny percentage and that is supposing that every last one of those charged is a Rangers fan, which is definitely not true. However, I would accept, before BD or anyone else points it out, that the real questions here are what percentage of those charged are Rangers fans and what offences were they charged with. You would then need to look at the numbers in relation to the number of fans supporting each club. I have an academic friend how might be interested in doing the study. That is why I have suggested a Freedom of Information request to settle the issue.
  3. I made that point the last time, none of these groups represent me or the vast majority of Rangers fans.
  4. I suggest you make a freedom of information request about the statistics of those charged under the OBA; I think you will find that you are wrong and Amms is correct.
  5. Zappa, I am happy to concede that South Africa is a highly corrupt society. I am sorry but I don't have time right now to read all the references you have kindly supplied; but are you saying that the officials who charged Mr King and/or the High Court that convicted him on his own admission are themselves corrupt? If you have this evidence I would certainly be interested to read it.
  6. I responded to your earlier request at #14 http://faolex.fao.org/docs/pdf/saf93024.pdf
  7. 1 Basel 3 6 6 2 FC Schalke 04 3 1 6 3 FC Schalke 04 3 0 4 4 Steaua Bucharest 3 -7 1 Placed second and third in the group?
  8. OK then, from my perspective I seriously do not see what songs like "No Pope of Rome" have to do with Rangers FC. Surely we left all that behind long ago. If we didn't or haven't then isn't it time for a rethink? And please don't tell me about all the songs that THEY sing; it's not relevant. We need to get our own house in order then we can start talking about others. Equally songs about or singing "Bobby Sands he's Deid" and the UVF are clearly political rather than sectarian; but once again I would prefer not to have them attached to RFC. Do we not have a big enough RANGERS song book? Incidentally, when I was on the JRG, I argued very strongly that whilst singing in support of a terrorist organisation was obviously offensive (within the meaning or intended meaning of the Act); singing against those who support a terrorist organisation was not. However, the Police strongly opposed this view and it was adopted by the SPL in their new rules (which means that Clubs can be charged when it happens). It isn't difficult to speculate why that happened. Ministers also accepted their point of view even although the Civil Servants admiited it was illogical and the Lord Advocate's advice was changed accordingly.
  9. I don't agree with the description of "idiotic" I would prefer to say, "ill-advised"; but I don't think it's a majority any more. For example the vast majority of people sing "shooosh" at the end of a certain song now, rather than FTP.
  10. The FoCUS unit is a very small part of of Police Scotland; but knowing we are miles apart on this issue I'll settle for your comment above.
  11. My point is twofold: If such songs become unacceptable here then UEFA will surely follow (they took the opposite view in the past if you remember) Regrettably some of those who sing such songs (such as the three in the row behind me at Brechin) seem unable to do so without the add ons. That said I confess to knowing nothing at all about the origins of these songs and therefore am not going to get into whether they are political, sectarian or whatever. And also being honest, I have never heard anything like the performance of BMG after we got gubbed in Valencia; it went on for fully half an hour getting louder and louder and was truly hair-raising. The Valencia directors stood looking on in amazement. But could we not sing Follow Follow just as well and without FTPitV.
  12. If you and others truly believe that then those of us who don't have to respect your point of view; but the next time we're in Europe we'll last about 5 mins before we get kicked out again.
  13. The only thing that is factual about that statement is that FoCUS was set up by the Scottish Government. For a start FoCUS was set up in 2011 as part of the JAG/JRG initiative following the so called "shame game". FoCUS - establishment of a national football policing unit in Scotland, helping to improve consistency in policing approaches at football across Scotland through improved co-ordination of intelligence and operational deployments to matches. I can tell you that the co-ordination of intelligence in particular has been extremely succcessful in preventing major incidents and equally in arresting fans of many different clubs for serious and oftentimes violent offences.
  14. This happened on at least two occasions that I can remember, when SDM for obvious reasons didn't want to be continually up and down and presumably didn't think that anyone else on the Board at the time was up to the job. I found it quite surprsing at the time that as a Club we should pay an outside person to Chair a an AGM but could only assume that it was in order. I don't recollect whether or not McClelland was on the Board at the time but certainly do remember his infamous appearances in the Chair. From memory this was in the years following the lawyer taking the Chair but I may be mistaken on that. I may be able to place the year(s) if I have a search around old docs.
  15. If 2-3-5 was the formation when you were a boy then you must be a lot older than you look and seriously decrepit in comparison with me. The "3" played as a back 3 with the two full backs wide to cover the opposition wingers. As I said players like Woodburn and Young didn't think they needed help to deal with the opposition centre forwards. However the half backs, as the name suggests, were auxiliary defenders when required and auxiliary attackers but perhaps to a lesser extent (except players like Baxter) who was probably told just to go out and enjoy himself. The centre half was originally the centre half BACK but as I say moved back leaving the right and left half BACK. I definitely played 3 at the back in subbuteo at first but moved to 4 and then adopted catenaccio a la Inter Milan.. "Catenaccio was not restricted to one single formation, and although the 1-3-3-3 was popular, 1-4-4-1 and 1-4-3-2 systems were also employed". http://worldsoccer.about.com/od/skillsandtactics/a/Catenaccio.htm I played then 1-4-3-2 latterly in subbuteo, with great success.
  16. "Inside forward" was simply the collective name that was given to the inside right and inside left, no difference that I can recall.
  17. A small typo perhaps or were you just being extremely sarcastic.
  18. Thanks for the memory; I was a teenager high up on the Hampden terracing that night and have often desribed the last 20 minutes after Kai Johnasen scored, as the longest 20 minutes of my life.
  19. Sorry, of course; obvious; been spending too much time looking at the lists and writing about DK!
  20. That is an equally good question. I don't know about his current motives though I will try to find out. What I do know is that in 2010 it was put across by his lawyers that he just wanted the fans to get control of the club, because it was the right or best thing for the future of the club. But it was never suggested that he was a supporter or that he wanted to invest personally, quite the contrary in fact. He did not (and one can only assume still does not) see it as a business in which he wants to invest. But you are right it does seem very odd. It may be no more than he was approached by certain people e.g. PM as someone who was known to have had an interest and the wherewithal and standing to do something about it.
  21. Apparently I've said enough about King; but McColl has never said he wanted to own us, on the contrary he was prepared to facilitate the fans owning the Club and is , I assume bank rolling (in terms of legal fees etc) the group that we have referred to as McCollCo. Wouldn't a more interesting question be about the motives/financial standing of the others that he is proposing? That is not to say that I support the incumbents, far from it.
  22. By all accounts an outstanding player who was in 11th place in the European Footballer of the Year award in 1988, and in 17th place in 1989. Unfortunately we didn't get to see him at his best and I must admit I was always very suspicious of that second game injury; if I recall it was early in the match too. Sorry don't get the connection with Durrant; Kuznetsov was a CB?
  23. Wow, you dug one out there, Oleg Anatolyevich Salenko, had to look him up on Wiki 16 games and 7 goals in 1995. Oleg Salenko, best footballer in history Enjoy! Time you were standing getting soaked with the rest of us at Brechin etc!
  24. Thread: Dave King - A Criminal???? at #11. Sorry, didn't realise I was spamming, just responding to the various threads where his name has been mentioned; can I send you some eye drops. With respect, though it's not my interpretation, it's what the court records say. That said, I'll give it a rest, for a few hours anyway; to give your eyes time to recover.
