  1. I don't know whether it it is one rule or two rules but the other clubs have to look at why they allowed the rule changes at all. The first one at the beginning of the season was obviously established to allow Celtic to play friendlies and St Mirren got shafted by it twice, although it is now scheduled for Sunday 2 February when neither club is invloved in the LC Semis. The current one is a farce. The new rule is there to allow clubs to create their own winter break not to allow them to go and play friendlies in Turkey. They shouldn't be allowed to do both; but it's up to the other clubs to make and enforce the rules.
  2. Referees are subject to reports by the Clubs as well as supervisors and can be downgraded as a result of poor performances. It will be interesting to see if Rangers appeal.
  3. Black took a lot of punishment as usual with little or no protection and showed admirable restraint; if he can keep that up he will become less of a target.
  4. The "complaint" was nonsense as Mr Grant's article clearly proves. McCoist is trying to cover up now with bluster about " the fans being asked to travel about to three or four games at this time of year. I was just trying to fight the fans' corner" Nonsense, Ally and it was THREE not FOUR . Dunfermline was the only possible gripe but even that was relatively easy with a 6.00pm start from Glasgow. Airdrie at 5.30pm on Jan 2nd was actually very sensible in my view and it was definitely better from a FAN'S point of view to play Stenhousemuir on a Sunday than midweek (although that would not have been a great hardship either). He would be a lot better off complaining about the Monday night games at Arbroath and Forfar.
  5. Unfortunately the ref doesn't get "to rewind the video.......... and watch a slow motion replay a couple of times", he is inside and in front of the action and would have seen the studs up challenge. Football isn't played in slow motion, it's played at a fast pace and I wouldn't like to say whether Peralta pulled out or not; but it doesn't look that way to me at full speed. As was said on the match thread, it just looked like retribution, Peralta ran about 10 yards and seemed to go straight for the Stenhousemuir player; he gave the referee a decision to make and he made it. Ally accepted it as well, saying he hoped for a yellow but understood the red. There will be no appeal and even if there were, it would be dismissed.
  6. Yes it does thanks; that it makes it a red card for me.
  7. I am sure we all hope you are correct about that; but I wouldn't be so certain.
  8. Whilst Lawwell's promotion from the SFA Professional Game Board to the Main Board may well have been almost inevitable given that he was the only representative of the SPL once Ralph Topping stood down; the election of another Celtic Director, Eric Riley, to replace him on the PGB is nothing short of astonishing. One can only speculate as to why the other clubs would think it appropriate to have two men from the same club in such powerful positions. This means that leaving aside the Office Bearers, Celtic men occupy two out four elected postions open to senior football between the two Boards which control the professional game. There should be a rule to prevent that happening.
  9. Still can't see if Peralta had his studs up; but certainly dangerous play.
  10. I stand corrected on Mohsni's nationality, many thanks for pointing that out. However, he does have a bad disciplinary record, he IS always chirping at referees, he DID lose the plot at Airdrie and he DID get involved needlessly when two of his team mates were trying to restrain him. He has the most cautions of any Rangers player this season other than Ian Black. I stand by my overall view that he is a good player with the potential to get better but must curb his temprament. I think that most people would agree that Whittaker's actions in Malmo were completely out of character and Wallace has not received one caution this season.
  11. My humble apologies to you and SC, must have had too much Metaxa that night.
  12. I was trying to be sarcastic, obviously unsuccessfully; but if any of those versions are correct it certainly can't be "you's". Much to my surprise "yous" or "youse" are given as correct, albeit not standard, here http://www.thefreedictionary.com/yous but being a Southerner, I think I'll go for you-all or the possessive you-all's often abbreviated to y'all or y'all's or the plural all-you-all abbreviated to all y'all for which I assume the possessive would be all-you-all's and for which I am not going to attempt an abbreviation
  13. Three: we won in Athens, at home to Bremen and in Lisbon. You could just as easily say we one four ties on aggregate, which was the name of the game and only lost two and one of those was the final.
  14. Thanks, I thought it was today and was marvelling at the fitness levels of our lads; luckily I checked the ticket before I set out, or it would have been the second abortive trip to Stenhousemuir
  15. He did have a poor record at Southend including 17 bookings and four red cards in three seasons. He is a strange mixture turning out as a striker and a winger to get a game but also apparently twice leaving when games were in progress (presumably he was not selected or had been substituted). I was simply pointing out that another Algerian CB had let us down badly but was also an excellent footballer, capable of charging up the pitch to good effect; obviously a complete coincidence on both counts.
  16. A bit unkind to both players but apparently Edu has only managed 10 mins for Stoke and played 12 times for Bursaspor on loan last season.
  17. Apparently a 28 day loan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamie_Ness He hasn't started a league game for Stoke in the 18 months he's been there. He was capable of becoming the new Jim Baxter if he had been able to stay fit; sadly he doesn't seem able to do that.
  18. I am not sure about the link you are making in (3) but otherwise these are all good questions. On (5) however, Rangers went into liquidation; the other clubs as you say went into adminstration and as we all have become experts on these issues, we know there is a world of difference between the two. One thing that certainly was very strange about the Hearts situation is how they managed to avoid the points penalty last season which would have relegated them (and saved Dundee). However, knowing the lawyer who acted for them (the same as acted for Messrs Whittaker and Naismith) I am not really surprised that he pulled it off.
  19. I always wondered how to spell yous/youse/you's. Does Mr Sandy Easdale suffer from Dysgraphia or some similar learning disability that prevents the use of the "d" in the past tense as in exclude/excluded or include/included?
  20. And not one game more than an hour and a half from Glasgow
  21. Arbroath on a Monday night was possibly the most ludicrous (non-rearranged) fixture in the history of midweek football.
  22. To the best of my knowledge and belief that is all correct; there was never any possibility of the SFL allowing us to leap-frog into SFL1.
