On the other hand, after the 1-0 loss to Maritimo in Madeira, IIRC with Boumsong anchoring the defence, did we not go on a run of 6 games without losing a goal?
-
True enough, as a boy I watched: Ritchie, Shearer, Caldow; Davis, Paterson, Baxter; Scott (Henderson), McMillan, Millar Brand and Wilson. When Andy Penman came into the team at inside right, he and Baxter were the midfield "2", but even before that Ian McMillan played deep and Jimmy Millar and Ralph Brand effectively were the "strikers" of their era. Ah memories........

[FT] Rangers 2 (Miller 12; Waghorn 61) - 1 Morton

From my position just to the right of the half way line they were more or less in line or perhaps slightly deeper when they started their runs; but it certainly looked more like 4-2-4 than 4-4-2. Whatever it was called it was exciting to watch. -

Probably more than they get at home; did the Easdales lay on free buses? -
But wasn't it great watching 4 up top!

I don't know either. For me it was very clearly 4-2-4 albeit Tavernier tends to come forward so perhaps 3-3-4; but one thing is for sure, we had 4 up for the last half an hour. -

You must have been at a different game from me. We took off Holt from MF and sent on O'Halloran to play wide right. We pushed Waghorn into the middle alongside Miller and still had McKay on the left. We only had two midfielders on the park for the last half and hour: Halliday and Hyndman/Toral. From my position in the MSF we were very clearly playing 4 up and 2 in MF. If you are saying that O'Halloran and McKay were in wide midfield then I strongly disagree. -

I beg to differ. He made one bad mistake and on another occasion tried to be a bit clever when he should have sent the ball into the stand; but that apart I thought he was our best defender by far, cool and composed, won just about everything in the air and tried to pass out of defence to Rangers' players; all of which is in stark contrast to Kiernan. -

Looked like 4-2-4 to me. -
Perhaps Murty has put himself in the frame, especially going 4-2-4 for the last half hour.

A very neat turn of phrase GS and not one with which I could disagree; but as a short term fix it might be the best, if not the only realistic option.

The very same.

Word coming down from the Director's Box is its McLeish and Rae till the end of the season and they get the job if we finish second.

I think the major question that needs answered and the main flaw in the Club's argument is that if the agent met SR on Monday and the Board met and agreed the deal on Tuesday, why was the so called "immediate termination" delayed until approx. 9.00pm on Friday night? This makes it appear as if the Club's action was contingent on the agent going back to renegotiate, which shouldn't have been the case.

Mark Warburton in £1million compensation battle with Rangers

Only the players can prevent this shambles becoming a catastrophe. -
That version sounds plausible to me.
-
Or we could take the view that using the word "immediate" when it is manifestly the case that it was not immediate, is disingenuous in the extreme.
-
Quite so. It would appear that the said discussion took 4+ days and the "immediate termination" only took place in the changed circumstances thereafter. The statement begs the question of what would have happened if the agent had not gone back on Thursday because it would appear that up to that point the employments had not been terminated.
-
I'd just like to make the point that Celtic, albeit from a different starting point, showed the necessary foresight, ambition and financial commitment to secure Rogers services, so I see no reason why we shouldn't be looking at the likes of Frank de Boer.
-
Presumably because somewhat foolishly it had not been confirmed in writing up to that point in time. This is a distinct weakness in the Club's version of events.
-
I think it's a fair statement although no doubt there is another side to the story. I would be interested to learn a breakdown of the £18 million and in particular how much of that is share purchases and how much is actually investment in the infrastructure and assets of the Club and how much is attributable to King himself.
