  1. Bumper pay days for the lower league clubs followed by bumper luxury holidays and flash cars for the owners families.
  2. Harold Davis. In 1951 whilst playing for East Fife, Harold was called up to do his national service and was sent to fight in the Korean War. Unfortunately, he was badly wounded and took two years to make a full recovery. In 1956, he was signed by Rangers and played alongside such greats as Jim Baxter, Willie Henderson, and Eric Caldow.
  3. In season 1966/67, John Greig won a European Cup Winners Cup tie against Real Saragossa on the toss of a coin. Rangers defeated Real Zaragossa 2-0, at Ibrox but lost the return match in Spain by the same margin. After 30 minutes of extra time, the teams were still level so the game was decided on the toss of a coin. John Greig still has the coin amongst his football memorabilia. A French frank.
  4. How forgotten is that. Not a mention of it anywhere in the sports match previews at all. Football is a game which feeds on romantic stories as standard, but alas not here in corrupt bigoted Scotland. Can you imagine say the wee squeaky voiced commentator on BBC who tries to follow the 'Motson' way by reading from his 'notes' during a game coming out with that? Looking forward to the original 'Glasgow Derby' I like that wee fact, and the fact 'wee squeaky' won't be there to witness it. Stick that in your notes.
  5. Matthews also married the granddaughter of Tom Vallance, one of the five founding members of Rangers.
  6. Fantastic, this is a real boost
  7. Ibrox locals dubbed him "The Wee Society Man" He was a familiar figure strolling down Paisley Road West towards training at Ibrox sporting bowler hat and umbrella.
  8. SANDY JARDINE reckons Rangers are well on their way to being in their best shape for 30 years off the pitch. On it, heâ??s convinced Ally McCoist will lead the club back to the top. But the Ibrox legend wonâ??t forget the turmoil theyâ??ve had to suffer â?? until shamed ex-owner Craig Whyte is behind bars. Itâ??s been eight months since Gers were plunged into administration and 18 weeks since the liquidation process was started. Jardine is just grateful theyâ??re still alive but every time Whyteâ??s name is mentioned he canâ??t help but look back in anger. In an exclusive interview, he told Record Sport: â??I now feel even more bitterness towards Whyte than I did at the time. What he did to this club was an absolute disgrace and I still canâ??t comprehend it. â??It doesnâ??t surprise me he rarely shows his face in Scotland. He couldnâ??t try to defend what he did. He decapitated Rangers. â??But I know the police and fraud squad are continuing to look at things and hopefully they will put him in jail.â? Jardine has seen it all at Ibrox during a four-decade association with the club but nothing could have prepared him for the year theyâ??ve just had to endure. And it pains him trying to explain Rangersâ?? plight to icons of the past, who will soon be celebrated at â??Legends Lunchesâ??. He said: â??Iâ??ve been through hard times but there was never a situation when I thought the club could die, and we could have done this year. When I meet the older ex-players, they canâ??t believe what has happened. â??I met Bobby Brown last week and when he played here, Rangers were known as the biggest club in Britain and one of the biggest in Europe.â? Jardine feels his club have been treated badly by the SFA and SPL, whose indecision left Gers waiting to find out which league theyâ??d be playing in this season. They are now plying their trade in our gameâ??s bottom tier but former Scotland full-back Jardine is adamant Rangersâ?? new chief executive Charles Green is the right man to steer the club back to prosperity. He said: â??Weâ??re now in a far better financial position than weâ??ve been in a long time. It looks as though the share issue will go really well and if itâ??s successful, weâ??ll be in our healthiest position for 30 years. â??Itâ??s still early days but Charles has delivered what he said he would. â??The club has been treated abysmally by the governing bodies. Weâ??ve been let down by them and I include the SFA, SPL and the tax authorities in that. â??We know we deserved punishment and if the SFA and SPL felt we merited punishments, they could have done it within a few weeks. â??But it was left to the last minute, just 24 hours before our first game at Brechin we still didnâ??t know if we had a licence and thatâ??s disgraceful.â? Jardine is convinced Rangers will return to the top of Scottish football and is adamant boss McCoist is the man to take them there. He added: â??Ally has coped well with everything thatâ??s happened but some of the players havenâ??t â?? and you can see that with a couple of our results. But this is a rebuilding job. If the players arenâ??t good enough weâ??ll get others who can do it.â? http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/craig-whyte-should-be-jailed-for-what-1384967
  9. ...it's a perfect match for my pink frilly knickers ducky
  10. Montrose is the lowest-priced club to visit in the whole of English Football and Scottish Football, according to BBC Sport's Price of Football. A day out at the Scottish Third Division club - consisting of the lowest-priced adult ticket available, a programme, pie and cup of tea - costs just £10.60. In comparison, the most expensive day out in the Scottish Premier League when purchasing the cheapest ticket available on a matchday is £30.30 at Celtic - £19.70 more than Montrose. There is a gap of £3.40 between Montrose and the next-cheapest day out in their division, which is at Annan Athletic and Elgin City , both priced at £14. Derek Sim, chairman of Montrose, said: "We've always looked at the size of the town in comparison to the football club and have always keenly looked at the differences at the cost of our product for spectators who choose to come here in comparison to other clubs in the area. "It's something as a football club that you are conscious of and have to be aware of." Following Rangers' demotion from the Scottish Premier League they remain the highest-priced day out for the lowest-category adult matchday ticket available, at £23. That price is higher than the majority of Scottish Football League Division One, Two and Three clubs. Many Scottish division three clubs have yet to announce matchday ticket prices for games against Rangers, meaning the most expensive ticket price could yet rise during the season. "The fact that Rangers are in this division this season, and we have two games against them at Montrose, has meant we've had to look at issues with regard to fans' safety," Sim continued. "One of the important issues to recognise is that all of a sudden clubs who are hosting Rangers have to work with the police and with local councils in Scotland to ensure fans' safety and that costs money." Rangers have also kept the price of a programme the same as it was prior to vacating the Scottish Premier League, at £3. However, Stirling Albion 's programme is also set at the same price. The Glasgow club has the fifth highest-priced season ticket available in the whole of Scottish Football at £411, but it is £198 cheaper than SPL champions Celtic. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19972017 There are also figures in there for every league in Britain.
  11. Takes the spotlight off Craig Levein and the SFA for now, wonder how long the BBC have been holding on to that interview and when they planned to broadcast it? I remember Green having a pop at those in charge of Scottish football and the state it was in long before he arrived (failure to qualify for major comps etc) As for Whyte he looked like he was making things up in that interview.
  12. The link isn't working forlan..
  13. Oh no!!! Pressley back at Ibrox? Nothing would surprise me.
  14. Stephen Pressley, now there was an ex-player to hate. Kenny Miller was another, especially when he kissed the unwashed badge after scoring against us, but he was welcomed back a couple of years later. Never say never. Oops!!! I just said it twice.
  15. Twitters well named.

  19. Latest - Portugal 0-1 N Ireland
  20. Once a Ranger always a Ranger?...well if I had his ability I know who I'd be playing for.
  21. First half stand-outs for Scotland are McGregor with some brilliant diving saves and Maloney & Commons with some brilliant diving
  22. H-T Croatia 1-0 Wales
