  1. Yes, let's sit back while others treat the Rangers as a figure of fun...that will never meet will approval on a Rangers forum.
  2. He could be just what we need to win the cup this season.
  3. Wonder if he's a tim? Community service and ban from porkheid and every other football ground for that matter would send out a stern message
  4. Staying with Colin... his last taste of glory was in season 77-78 while on loan from Rangers to Kilmarnock who played in the 1st division at the time which sensationally beat Celtic in a replayed Scottish Cup match to earn a trip to Ibrox in the quarter-finals. Rangers had to pulp all the tickets they had somewhat presumptively printed advertising their opponents as Celtic. Killie were beaten 4-1. Stein didn’t score but it was perhaps fitting that Ibrox was the ground where he played his last full 90 minutes.
  5. 1968-69 Fairs Cup second round. Colin Stein made his European debut for Rangers against Dundalk scoring twice helping his side to progress into the 3rd round. A month earlier in the 1st round of the competition he had helped Hibs into the 2nd round against NK Olimpija scoring in a 3-0 win.
  6. Wee 'Doddie' is one of my all-time favourites, the only midfielder in a blue jersey to come close to him imo for skill and battling qualities was Stu McCall. Jock Wallace in a later interview about his time as Rangers manager said Alex was always the first name on his team sheet. Delighted to hear he got a replica of his stolen CWC medal.
  7. In a Rangers v Falkirk league match in 1970, John Greig and Alex Ferguson were sent off for swapping punches.
  8. During the 1968-69 season John Greig was the regular penalty taker of the team. After 5 successes from the spot he then missed one in a nervy Fairs Cup quarter final first leg tie against Atletico Bilbao at Ibrox with 'Gers only leading 2-1. Greig vowed after the game (which finished 4-1) 'I'll never take another penalty kick'. 3 and a half years later in a League Cup game against Dumbarton with Rangers already 4-0 up, Derek Parlane the regular taker, and who had earlier put 'Gers 2-0 ahead from the spot, handed John the ball and said 'go on, take it',...he did and scored. THAT was the last penalty kick he ever took.
  9. Maybe the Ajax fans should have just chanted it instead of putting on a big banner for all to see.
  10. The cheek of this wee fella... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p5OuUPbGis
  11. Ayr United forward Moffat scored a hat-trick tonight at Somerset Park against Stranraer in a match held over from the weekend due to the Scottish Cup. But it wasn't enough to take the points as Longworth (3) Aitken (2pens) and a McKenna strike sealed an excellent 6-3 win for the visitors to move up to 5th in the table.
  12. Why do some threads descend into point scoring on who said what and who done what regarding who's in charge and who isn't in charge of our club?
  13. I had this about 26 years ago mate, wife rushed me to the Glasgow Royal - I thought it was a heart attack - was laid out on a hospital bed for a couple of hours with things attached to me, turned out it was nowt, never happened since. Here's to good health
  14. I thought Peralta and Faure on the right side looked promising, and the display in the Govan was an incredible sight.
  15. No Surrender mate...I share your grief. WATP.
  16. We have a good core right now ok we're playing in a league that aint that good but it's what we have at present. Are we good enough to take on a Motherwell or a St. Mirren?.....there's only one way to find out.
  17. Personally I'm longing for a game against them, but not sure about beating them, it's probably how a useless gambler feels - get your money on it and lose more of your cash - I think I'd rather wait a while even until we get back in their league (and it is theirs) then we'll be 'ready' for them at that time (I hope!) no cup games for now please.
  18. Rangers drop down to the bottom tier of their national football league and don't bring any youngsters on in their desperate fight to get back to the top shock.
  19. Interesting slant from the pro-gun lobby in the US Food for thought! Pretty Amazing! A blogger added up the deer license sales in just a handful of states and arrived at a striking conclusion: There were over 600,000 hunters this season in the state of Wisconsin… Allow me to restate that number: 600,000! Over the last several months, Wisconsin ’s hunters became the eighth largest army in the world. (That’s more men under arms than in Iran. More than France and Germany combined.) These men, deployed to the woods of a single American state, Wisconsin, to hunt with firearms, and NO ONE WAS KILLED. That number pales in comparison to the 750,000 who hunted the woods of Pennsylvania and Michigan’s 700,000 hunters, ALL OF WHOM HAVE RETURNED HOME SAFELY. Toss in a quarter million hunters in West Virginia and it literally establishes the fact that the hunters of those four states alone would comprise the largest army in the world. And then add in the total number of hunters in the other 46 states. It’s millions more. ________ The point? ________ America will forever be safe from foreign invasion with that kind of home- grown firepower! Hunting... it's not just a way to fill the freezer. It’s also a matter of national security.
  20. 8 November 1987. A terribly terribly sad day.
  21. Worked out fine for Paul Scholes (over 120 career bookings and 10 red cards), he was never moved on by Sir Alex and retired at 37. ,Wasn't meant to be positive - or negative for that matter - just stating some footie facts from the match.
