Id love to see that. It would bring in a total freshness and the dutch set up and mentality has always been top notch. Im very much against the jobs for boys. But I do think the ex players player route can work - if they are the right personnel it doesn't matter where they come from IMO. I hope we stay away from Billy Davies and Terry Butcher and Im not to keen on Stuart McCall long term but he would be a good quick fix for the remainder of the season although I just don't see that as the answer. Other names that we could go for is someone with no previous links. If we could get Glenn Hoddle or Keegan in that would be far more appealing than Butcher or Davies. And bringing in Ray Wilkins as assistant would be a priority for me.

The counter argument to that is that the new board obviously know McDowall isn't the man and need to negotiate his leave, however that wouldn't have been possible within the 24 hours of the EGM plus a match that had to be prepared for.

Capucho, Rothen and Marcus Gayle would improve us right now so its pretty easy to say Naismith would. He has been getting interviewed a lot recently after games and comes across as too smug, certainly wouldn't want to see him playing at Ibrox again. As for one of the better EPL players around at the moment - not in a million years. There is players at Southampton, West Ham, Swansea all streets ahead of him not to mention the big 4 teams.

Hi chaps and chapesses. Didn't get to see the game on Sunday due to TV not showing it here but after being out of touch for a long time how far away are we from the supposed measuring stick? TBH a 2-0 defeat is more than I would have expected. What is more gutting is that they are certainly no great shakes and if we had been managed rightly on our so called journey we could and should have won this and been a match for them. As such, anyone who was there can let me know far behind are we? And if we get promotion via the plays off this season where are we on par with the other sides.

Tad harsh calling him a moron, it should never get personal. But he isn't a manager.....really is time for a new man in charge, a much needed injection of good football is required.

that made Super Ally famous? Pretty sure older bears will answer this one....its slightly beyond my time Good bounce for the bears behind the goal mind you....and I see Celtic still cant sell tickets

Nacho back (along with two Vancouver Whitecaps trialists)
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Not only that you get situations of paying to rehabilitate players who's career was almost finished then they get back to form and go play for your biggest rivals - Craig Gordon. Something is very wrong with this set up.- 17 replies

Naismith: Rangers fans have been treated 'appallingly'
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
What like McCulloch, Alexander etc etc all found so difficult?? Naismith really needs to just quit the sooking and jog on. -
Is McCoist going to do the decent thing now?
Gribz replied to Ser Barristan Selmy's topic in Rangers Chat
Agreed. That's why there is a realistic list and an unrealistic list and an affordable list and an unaffordable list. We need a organised manager / assistant / coach to settle the team, bring in morale, get a system going on no budget. Its a 6-18 month task to do that, then we can maybe start to set our sights higher. Some people must think we are still in the Advocaat era. -

Come back into a bit of reality...a Premier League / Championship manager? Their wages would dwarf McCoists. If Lennon struggled to get a job in the second tier after winning leagues and being in Champions league how are we going to attract the likes of Steve McLaren (who is a guy Id have liked but he isn't going to leave high flying Derby.) You have slated Malky Mackay before and he is at bottom 3 side Wigan. If we go down south it would be from someone from a 3rd tier side. Warnock might get the gig! He is a Premier League manager. -

Im guessing he must have meant close the gap between us and letting the 3rd get closer to us. Hibs are beginning to get a run together now, unbeaten in 8 games and they comfortably beat us when they were playing poorly. A play off versus them doesn't fill me with confidence. -

I just think McCall would be viewed more as the ex player tag. I know Nicholl played for us but almost 30 years ago. I also know Calderwood is supposed to be a Rangers fan but he doesn't fit in with this 'must be a rangers man' things that often gets viewed. As a duo they seem to have good leadership and tactical knowledge. Calderwood likes to play a good brand of football, knows some of the European lower leagues well and with the second most expensive squad in Scotland I think he would put something on the pitch that shows that. Both are affordable if Ally did walk. -

Repetitive that he shouldn't be allowed to continue in the roll. Davies and McCall would both do better but are both unappealing. So many names could do better but would be unrealistic targets. Ive always thought Id like to see Kevin Keegan in charge with Ray Wilkins as his assistant but that boat has probably sailed. A realistic team who I think would do well for 18 months would be Jimmy Calderwood with Jimmy Nicholl, and I would add they could bring in Brian Laudrup as first team coach. -
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/30114815 Was one of my favourite players while at Ibrox and scored some big goals in big games.

I see where you are coming from and hence why 1 or 2 results would be swept under the carpet but the list of results is building up, and just have a look at the opposition. The other thing is the level of performance has been dreadful. Im pretty sure we could also go back to pre admin with the Maribor results etc and that was with a pretty decent team. End of the day he just isn't the man who should be leading Rangers, its been known for too long.
-
Morning Pete. Im bamboozled if anyone can defend that record. Alloa (yes Alloa) are a match for Rangers this season. If that list had teams of calibre then it wouldn't have been posted but its part time teams who make up numbers in Scottish football yet Ally is collecting a CV which cant get past them.
-
A super legend as a player but why is he allowed to still be manager....1 or 2 results could be swept under the carpet but the following shows he isn't the man. Peterhead 2-2 Rangers Berwick 1-1 Rangers Annan 0-0 Rangers Stirling 1-0 Rangers Rangers 1-1 Elgin Rangers 1-1 Montrose Stirling 1-1 Rangers Rangers 1-2 Annan Rangers 0-0 Stirling Montrose 0-0 Rangers Rangers 1-2 Peterhead Rangers 1-1 Stranraer Rangers 3-3 Stenhousemuir Raith 1-0 Rangers (cup final) Forfar 2-1 Rangers Rangers 1-1 Albion Rangers 1-3 Dundee Utd Brora Rangers 1-1 Rangers Ventura Fusion County (no laughing at the back please) 3-1 Rangers Rangers 1-2 Hearts Alloa 1-1 Rangers Rangers 1-3 Hibs Rangers 1-1 Alloa

Absolutely terrible news to learn of that. Bluebear54 fitted in here extremely well and was a poster that I enjoyed reading. He contributed on here very well especially with last seasons prediction league.

Over and out.....Very disappointing way to end a fantastic place but we have seen some true colours here and I don't want to be part of it.
-
My word....another who has just lost my respect.

you know my point. You also are defending the undefendable
-
Well that's typical similar to the mainstream media of today...condemnation with no investigation. You didn't even read the posts.....he broke no rules. Sorry but if that's the mindset then I walk from this place.
-
Only if they are crossing the line......Whats your point? SC didn't break the rules so how can he get banned?
-
No, still not having that blueflag.....had I seen a post saying Ally is wanker, tosser and shags wifes then Id agree with you all day long. But it was constantly about his tactics and I agree.....very very harsh decision.
