If there is 1 club where you want to take a young player on loan from then its Arsenal.

35 million upfront plus add ons is a lot but I like the look of Carroll. he reminds me of a cross between Duncan Ferguson and Dado Prso. He has strength of Ferguson and work rate of Prso. Considering liverpool only spent 7 million on Suarez and Carroll after the Torres cash its not a bad way to look at it, those 2 can get as much goals together as Torres would.

January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN
Gribz replied to stewarty's topic in Rangers Chat
Cant see this one due to wages again. But would be a good signing, he is a solid defender. -
Disagree. while its not the most attractive signing Id rather have Healy than Riordan. Noticed Alan Gow was playing for Notts County against Man City yesterday. A lot of people, myself included, thought he deserved a chance when at Ibrox but he obviously hasnt impressed nobody at a higher level than Englands 3rd tier either.

Back to league business on Wed and originally I fancied the games in hand in preference to points on the board but the last few games has knocked a wee bit of confidence in me although all that can still change with 1 result. Our 2 games in hand still puts us a point clear but we need to move up a gear or two. The team is in need of freshened up. Id play Weiss, Ness, hutton and Naismith in the middle against Hearts with Healy and Jelavic upfront. Hopefully Aberdeen get their finger out on Wed and get something off Celtic, but we have to beat Hearts.

How many strikers do WH need, its defenders thats required. Just signed the guy Ba on a 3 year deal and Robbie Keane is undergoing a medical today. 2 good signings but we still have Carlton Cole, Piquionne, Benni McCarthy (albeit been poor) and Obinnia (on loan). Grant doesnt have time to mess about and try out who will be his best pairing.

I wasnt Kevin Thomsons biggest fan but was disappointed he left only for the lack of central midfielders. If edu goes its 1 less again. Ness and Hutton have impressed but cant carry the midfield on their own.

January 2011 Transfer Window - Healy, Diouf and Bartley IN

I thought Healy was a bit of poor mans Kenny Miller TBH. He cant be any worse than Beattie though and would put in an honest shift but I still think we should be looking at more cover in midfield or defence. -
Exactly, like Novo said no thanks. Commons seems a bit of a arrogant twat, pity Broadfoot wasnt going to be fit for the Cup match and clamp him like he did pretty well with Mcgeady.
-
I still dont recognise most of their players and they have junk like Mulgrew but their form and goalscoring has to be a bit of a concern. They were nicking 1-0 late wins but recently have beein a bit more convincing. Is it next week we play them in the Scottish Cup? Need to get them back down to earth a wee bit by getting stuck right into them.

Bit of a kick in the teeth for liverpool, they sign a 24m player and then Torres hands in transfer request. But if Chelsea come back with that mental rumoured fee of 60 million they should bite the hand off then go use that on the squad. Its rumoured Drogba is on his way out of Chelsea, they should do a deal that involves swap plus cash.

SPL revive plans for television channel 10 years after idea was first mooted
Gribz replied to pete's topic in Rangers Chat
1 more step backwards for the SPL...we're surely losing steps to fall back onto. Would there be a huge demand to watch Hamilton v St Mirren or Kilmarnock v St johnstone?? -

Would be a disgrace of a signing. WS enjoyed the old dabble of SPL players during the 90s to make up squad numbers but at the same time he had an open cheque book to sign good players to compliement the team. Signing SPL's run of the mill players without the multimillion signings will set us back further. Give Fleck, Naismith and Lafferty a run upfront rather than this guy. Naismith could move into a centre forward role permanently and play Weiss and Kerkar on the wings. Has anyone seen Kerkar play BTW?? He doesnt seem to get on at all. Where is Gary O Connor these days? He was more of a decent striker for Hibs. -
I hope Holloway and Blackpool stick to their guns and challenge this all the way. They made it clear that they didnt field a weakend team whereas Wolves did make it clear they were chaging things around for their Man Utd game. Plus the rules have changed this season...each club now has a squad of 25 players and can pick whoever they want. Where do you draw the line in weakening a team? everyone obviously has a strongest / best XI so if you make ONE change is that fielding a weaker team?? Man Utd played Gibson against Blackpool this week and left Giggs out...thats weakening their team but will that be mentioned. More fat cats making rules up. As totti says if its delibarate to throw a game then its different but Blackpool deserved a draw in that game against Villa.

The only benefit of dount Velicka gets is his goalscorer record was pre-injury and he hasnt looked like a player since.

Yip agree with Juff the scouting network is awful, and the development side hasnt been great overall either. Ok recently a few promising players have came through like Hutton, Fleck (yet to prove himself after 3 years), K Hutton, Wilson (6 months honeymoon period) and Ness but how long has murray park been on the go? I dont even think we have to go to South America to land such quality, only a handful of clubs have in the UK have done well with South Americans as they prefer Spain etc. But to not even start looking at the likes of Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech along with Scandanvian countries is terrible. Id say SOME of the top teams in those countries are technically better than us in general yet Im sure a few of them would fancy a move. But to an extent the management role should have more of a say on scouting, Im sure Arsene Wenger is 100% in control of this at Arsenal so I wouldnt fully blame Murray on this topic unless he refused to employ the scouts in the first place. But Im sure ex Pro's of the clubs would easily watch a few games in their own countries for no fee if it was to recommend a player. A huge crime of Murrays was selling off the ticket office then the Albion Car park. To move the ticket office into a portacabin for a team that plays Champions league football with 50000 was embarrassing.

Very close...I was toying with Bougherra rather than Davis too. Yet the one game I dont have a flutter on correct score.

I like him and would be 1 of the first names on my team sheet but loan deals are always short term. Cant seeing him signing permanently hence why I said long term having Commons on a 3-4 year deal is safer for the club. Weiss is the better player but is the number of Scottish players rule not kicking in again?? Again Commons being Scottish helps that if it is. Ideally we'd have them both on the wings.
-
So the answer to this thread would be a No then! They didnt show up.
-
Bassa's. West Ham had that in the bag at half time then didnt defend at all. Jerome and Ferguson were dirty with 1 stamping (Tomkins) and the other kicking (Dyer). Im looking forward to seeing Arsenal absolutely stuff Brum in the final.
-
We did have them for a while but cant remember if the reason for scrapping them was the eyesore or the bandwidth. Zappas idea of switching them off from ones profile is a good suggestion if possible.

Dont mind text signatures but the graphics ones are a distraction on the eye, its like having another big banner below every post

An option for the getting Commons would be to give him the 20k/week then let Weiss return to Man City in the summer and use whatever share of Weiss wage we are paying towards Commons.
-
2-0 Rangers for me. Davis and Jelavic
-
The way WS was talking in his interview Novo is also a target but he has purely ruled out a return for Boyd - thank goodness. If we got Commons and Novo its 2 more attack minded players so i woudl love to see how he fits them in with his reluctance to drop Davis and McCulloch when they arent performing well. But perhaps the plan is to move McCulloch into the defence permanently!
