[FT] Ross County 1 - 3 Rangers (Morelos 31, 41; Herrera 89)
Darthter replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Is Windass fit to play??? I don't think Miller will dropped in favour of Herrera.....If Herrera come back into the team, I fear it will be at the expense of Morelos. Other than that I think the 1st team is pretty settled, with maybe Rossiter getting a wee start in place of Jack (The 2 of them almost alternating games) Over all I think we will win, and we will do it fairly comfortably (play wise, maybe not score wise). -
While I totally agree with the IDEA behind the OBFA laws, if one of the main subjects is not clearly defined, then it is impossible to implement - and that goes for ANY law that is implemented. Once a clear definition is agreed upon, fairness & a more even application of the law can be implemented.

doesn't look particularly over weight too me.... http://willievass.photoshelter.com/gallery-image/110817-Rangers-training/G0000XCHxhxBAEaM/I0000gQe2JLWYp_Q/C00003dgdcivxA28

Anyone can be a match winner....but there is simply not enough return from KM. He runs about, gives 100% each game...fair enough....but the ACTUAL effectiveness isn't there. His goal scoring record is poor & generally inconsistent. Folk complained about Boyd, that his contribution to the team & general play wasn't good enough....but he scored goals - whats the difference??? there needs to be more of an end product from KM, otherwise he's taking a jersey that someone else could get & be more effective. For all KM's running around, how many assists does he get??? I think KM's best quality is leadership & was something that was lacking last season....but now we have several leaders on the park.

I definitely feel he is getting FAR too much game time....Herrera or Hardie should be getting minutes under their belts. KM's experience is important, but I agree that he doesn't offer enough on the pitch during the game and PC should be reducing his game time in favour of those who have a longer term future.
-
Without knowing the full story....if the guys not settling too well, then maybe bringing him on for short spells (last 20mins etc) more often, might help him adjust easier.
-
But we also need players that offer good value in the future ie. sell on value. We need to be able to wheel/deal with players. If we buy in too many older/experienced players, the possibility of their value increasing is virtually nil. Therefore when we have to replace them, it mean greater expenditure. Loan players are not directly ideal in the long term, but they can provide shorter term gains through the players ability, but also longer term gains from inter-club relations and general reputation.

If Moult signed....how long would he get to prove as success or dud??? I'd bet a couple of games with no goals = Dud....or does that just apply to players like Herrera?? If memory is correct....McCoist got pelters on here for only signing "known" players, how how his signing lacked imagination or any sort of proper scouting.

That wasn't a bad decision, based on KM's performance last season....it maintained a bit of continuity & provided the new guys with an experienced player to assist. The only problem now is with how much game time KM is getting - it's too much. He'd be etter winding down his contract, as more of a bench player. The above is possibly a good reason why we've not seen more of Herrera....

Remember....Halliday's punishment for his gesture was a Yellow card. It so happened that he'd already been booked, so resulted in a red & subsequent ban (which couldn't be appealed)
-
I pretty sure that PC will be fully involved in the identification of potential targets - he will then leave it up to DoF to work on a deal & get the transfer done. Leaving PC to deal with footballing matters.

Instant 10-match ban....

Don't think it was ever motivational issue...think he just likes to par-ty......

A harsh view point, but one I am struggling to disagree with.... I get the impression that Pena is struggling with the more mental side of things (which may be impacting the physical). I think that PC is hoping to nurse Pena into a more rounded Pro....but as you say, that all takes time & money with no return. I would like to see him get some more regular game time, whether that is with the "reserves" of 20-30 with the 1st team. It may just help settle him down a bit more and get his head round where he is etc.

The headline should be put up - in bib print - as a constant reminder to the players & it made clear to them WHO McLeish is, and what he achieved at the club. The general expectation of those outwith are expecting Aberdeen to finish 2nd....it's up to the players to prove every single one of them wrong!!!
-
Do teams still stick newspaper "clippings" to the wall in the dressing room...if so, this should be one of them!!!
-
Try telling that to the fans....They want to win AND see good play.
-
The issue I have at them moment is with supporters expectations - especially of Pena. Several posts so far have been lauding Pena as the missing piece of the jigsaw.....but how long will they give him to settle into the team once ready??? I don't think he'll last a full game without criticism if he's not totally outstanding from the 1st whistle. A couple of slack passes & he'll be the biggest waste of money ever. That'll be followed by a flash of brilliance & he'll be back to being the saviour. I think we need to move focus away (initially) from the component parts and focus on the Teams strengths & weaknesses.....Then focus on how they are addressed. Lets not get too carried away with the league yet...we're only 3 games in. After 20 games, does anyone REALLY expect St Johnstone to be sitting 2nd & Hamilton 4th???

Obviously didn't see Stokes' hand round Jacks neck & moving in with his head....before Jack did anything. The video footage from behind clearly shows Jack moving his head....was isn't clear is what's going on in front ie. Is Jacks head movement as a result of Stokes' actions???
-
fixed that for you...
-
Officially that didn't happen though It was Jack's fault for placing his neck in Stokes' hand.

Stokes WAS booked for the "challenge", as was Tav. Since the ref issued the Yellow, the Compliance officer has no remit to intervene or apply extra punishment.
