Volunteers Needed For Card Display
Steve1872 replied to Rangers Football Club's topic in Rangers Chat
A Fan-tastic Effort Written by Andrew Dickson CHARLES GREEN met Rangers fans today as they helped lay out cards for the display which will pay tribute to the armed forces ahead of Saturday’s match with Peterhead. Thousands of coloured cards were placed in Broomloan, Govan and Copland Stands for the show the day before Remembrance Day by around 35 volunteers. Chief executive Green came to thank them for their efforts when they finished for the day with fans’ liaison officer Jim Hannah. He then spent around 20 minutes chatting with them, signed autographs and posed for photos with the loyal supporters. Anyone who wishes to help complete the display preparations tomorrow is asked to report to Argyle House reception at 10am where they can ask for Jim. It is expected everything will be finished no later than 5pm. No more volunteers are needed today due to heavy rain being forecast tonight. Green said: “It’s going to look amazing at the weekend. I’ve never had the privilege of being able to see this kind of thing before. “This is obviously the first time I have been involved with the club at this time of year and the devotion of the fans has been terrific. “It hasn’t been a warm day today but the amount of time and effort they have put in has been tremendous. -

GERS FIRST IN HISTORY Rangers legend Sandy Jardine at Ibrox Thursday November 8,2012 By Michael Baillie Have your say(0) RANGERS legend Sandy Jardine claims the Ibrox outfit have achieved more in their history than rivals Celtic. The Ibrox club yesterday unveiled plans to mark their 140th anniversary when they face Stirling Albion on December 8. The celebrations were put back a few months after Rangers went into administration. But Jardine insists with the club now on the road to recovery itâ??s time to celebrate their history with the supporters who have backed the Light Blues during their recent financial troubles. And Jardine believes the silverware Rangers have amassed overshadows the achievements of Old Firm rivals Celtic, who celebrated their 125th anniversary on Tuesday. Jardine said: â??Itâ??s about surviving and celebrating a fantastic history. â??I noticed Celtic are celebrating 125 years and they are a fantastic club but maybe Iâ??m biased â?? they donâ??t come anywhere near what weâ??ve done in 140 years when you look back through our history. We can celebrate the club is now back and itâ??s on itâ??s way to getting back on its feet Sandy Jardine â??So itâ??s only right we should recognise our history and celebrate it. â??We can celebrate the club is now back and itâ??s on itâ??s way to getting back on its feet. â??Itâ??s important that we do celebrate our 140 years because six months ago we might not have had a club. â??We have come through a difficult period and we have a long way to go. But we have started on a journey of rebuilding and hopefully the club can get back on its feet and back to where we were as the leading force in Scottish football. SEARCH FOOTBALL for: â??What we want to get across is that we are the same club â?? with the same strips, the same stadium and the same ethos. â??We want to give something back to the fans because one of the biggest things to come out of all this has been their support. â??They have been nothing but fantastic. Iâ??m on the Fighting Fund too, and the money they have given up has been amazing. â??Every game is a sell-out, and as long as the fans stay with us we will get back on our feet. Everyone at the club is amazed at the passion and support they have given to us, and this is a thank-you to them. â??We will get a lot of ex-players back for the day and there will be a half-time parade to celebrate our 140 years.â? Former Rangers ace Charlie Miller was at Ibrox yesterday and believes Ally McCoistâ??s crop of youngsters will take their place alongside the 1972 Cup-Winnersâ?? Cup legends and nine-in-a-row heroes if they guide the club from the Third Division to the SPL title. Miller said: â??The 1972 Cup-Winnersâ?? Cup team and nine-in-a-row guys will go down in folklore, 100 per cent. â??If you are a young boy at Rangers now, you must be able to grasp this with both hands. â??Itâ??s a great chance for the youngsters to become a Rangers hero and make their name.â?

Celebrating Our History Written by Rangers Football Club RANGERS will commemorate its 140th anniversary year with a celebration of the Club’s history at the Stirling Albion game on Saturday 8 December 2012. Legends of yesteryear will join modern day heroes at Ibrox Stadium in early December as the Light Blues mark the formation of the Club in 1872 and 140 years of success. From the Founding Fathers to the Cup Winners’ Cup triumph in 1972 and 9 in a Row, a host of Rangers legends will be in attendance on the day and will take to the pitch to create a visual celebration of the Club’s 140 years. A total of 54 league championships, 33 Scottish Cups, 27 League Cups and the 1972 Cup Winners’ Cup Final have all been won since Moses McNeil, Peter McNeil, Peter Campbell and William McBeath founded Rangers in 1872 and every title won will be celebrated at Ibrox on December 8. 2012 has been a difficult year for everyone associated with the Club but the supporters, staff, players, management team and Directors will unite to salute the Club’s history as some of the men who have made Rangers great appear on the hallowed Ibrox pitch once again. The celebrations on the day will be split into six distinct eras…. •Founding Fathers (1872-1910) •The Struth Era (1920s, 1930s and 1940s) •Post War (1950s & 1960s) •Barcelona (1970s & 1980s) •9 in a Row (1990s) •The Record Breaking Years (2000-present) There will also be a 140th anniversary card display in the stands, fans will display banners celebrating the Club’s history, a commemorative matchday programme will be available and the first team will wear a top referencing the 140th anniversary. Rangers legends Sandy Jardine, Derek Johnstone, Davie Wilson, Alex MacDonald, Ian McMillan, Willie Henderson, Willie Johnston, Alex Rae and Charlie Miller joined first-team youngster Robbie Crawford and one of the Club’s oldest fans Andy Bain at Ibrox today to promote the 140th anniversary activity. Jardine, who is helping oversee the 140th anniversary celebrations for the Club, said: “There is no doubt 2012 has been a turbulent year for Rangers but it is still important to recognise and celebrate our 140 year history and we will do that formally at the Stirling Albion game in December. “Supporters, players, staff and Directors will all unite to celebrate our history at Ibrox next month and it will be a fantastic afternoon for Rangers. "This football club has so much to be proud of and we will never forget the trophies we have won, the players who have graced the hallowed turf and the memories we have created for millions around the world. “It was an honour and privilege to pull on the Rangers jersey during my playing days and I am very proud to work for this great institution. "December 8 will be a fantastic occasion for everyone associated with Rangers and I am looking forward to meeting up with a few old friends on the day.” A host of former players will be in attendance at Ibrox on December 8 – Lorenzo Amoruso, Arthur Numan, Michael Mols, Richard Gough, Colin Stein, Harold Davis, Willie Johnston and Willie Henderson have already confirmed - and more names will be revealed on Rangers Media channels in due course. Tickets for the 140th anniversary celebration match are on sale now priced £16 for adults, £12 for concessions and just £5 for kids. Tuesday, 06 November 2012 21:25 Raith Res 2-4 Rangers Res Written by Andrew Dickson RANGERS kept up their valiant attempt at winning the SFL Reserve League with a hard-fought 4-2 win at Raith as two late goals finally saw off Rovers. The Light Blues travelled to Kirkcaldy needing a victory to close the gap between them and leaders Morton to six points with five games remaining. Goals from Robbie Crawford, Kamil Wiktorski, Jamie Burrow and Kevin Kyle gave them the success they needed to keep themselves in contention. Whether they will be able to do enough in the long run remains to be seen with the Greenock club in command of the competition thanks to their 100 per cent record after eight outings. But regardless of whether losses to them and Dumbarton are costly or not, the league is certainly continuing to be a useful tournament for the club’s fringe players to keep in shape. This was a fixture the away team controlled much of and coach Tommy Wilson will have been happy on the whole with the way his players performed. Gers were certainly dominant in the first half and the only surprise at the halfway point was that they didn’t lead by more. They began brightly with Kyle and Kal Naismith both having good chances to break the deadlock without taking them. It was a fair reflection of the way the game had begun when Crawford fired home after Kyle’s knock down from a deep Darren Ramsay free kick after eight minutes. But having gone 1-0 up, the visitors spurned so many chances which, had they taken even some of them, would have finished the contest before it was even quarter of the way through. Kyle had two more openings but his shooting was weak each time and both sneaked just the wrong side of the post. Naismith saw a decent drive from 25 yards held by the keeper, Crawford’s grasscutter was spilled and Ramsay put an attempt over the bar too. Francesco Stella, a scorer in last week’s 7-2 victory against Ayr, was next to have a go and he should have bulged the net but was blocked on the line. All of that meant coach Wilson would have been a frustrated man as his side was pegged back after 35 minutes through his namesake Jamie. Blair Currie did well initially to keep out a fierce Raith free kick but the rebound fell to the home forward and he scrambled in on the line. Thankfully the away team’s response was good and they were ahead again just 90 seconds later through Wiktorski when he headed Naismith’s right-wing corner in. Stella and Kyle could both have added a third before the interval but neither was able to and it was the odd goal in three that gave Gers the edge going into the second period. Rangers continued to press and Ramsay, Crawford and Stuart Urquhart each steered goalwards from outside the area but none of them could find their range. With that, Raith finally settled and began to enjoy a little possession themselves but they couldn’t make the most of it at first. Bad finishing and a couple of offside calls kept them at bay but they grew in confidence and levelled after 65 minutes when Nat Anderson made it 2-2. Again, Wilson will have been infuriated at not seeing his players close the game out by that point. And with their tails up, Raith set about trying to win the match themselves after being out of the running for so long. But it was the away team which did enough to come out on top at the climax as they got two quick goals in the final 12 minutes to make the difference. Substitute Burrows had only been on the park for a couple of minutes after replacing Ramsay but he showed great awareness to break the offside trap and dart clear. And with just the keeper to beat, he showed real composure to hold off a defender and slot in to put the Ibrox side in front again. They weren’t finished there though and Kyle got a good goal which will do his confidence no harm seconds later as his bullet header sealed the 4-2 win. There was even time for the big hitman to hit the bar and although a fifth never came, there's no doubt this triumph was a merited one for Wilson's team. RANGERS: Currie; Mitchell, Wiktorski, Jordan Wilson, Clarke; Ramsay (Burrows 76), Urquhart (Telfer 59), Crawford; Naismith, Kyle, Stella (C Gallagher 65).

Paying Tribute To Our Heroes Written by Rangers Football Club RANGERS Football Club will welcome around 400 armed services personnel and Erskine veterans to Ibrox on Saturday in honour of Remembrance Day. The Rangers first team will wear special poppy strips against Peterhead as a mark of respect and representatives from each of the armed forces and a veteran from Erskine will lead the teams onto the pitch before the game as a tribute to all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. All those present from the armed forces and Erskine will have the opportunity to come onto the pitch at half-time where they are certain to receive an amazing welcome from the Rangers support. The Rangers Charity Foundation is also hosting a can collection on the day in aid of veterans’ charity PoppyScotland, which supports ex-servicemen and women and their families. As always, the Rangers fans are sure to give generously to this collection, which will help veterans in Scotland receive the care and support they urgently need. Remembrance activities on the day will include music from army pipers, abseiling from the Royal Marines and the firing of an L118 artillery gun within the Stadium to mark the observation of a minute silence. There will also be a card display in the stands arranged by the Rangers Supporters Assembly. Rangers Manager Ally McCoist commented: “I am delighted that so many veterans and serving personnel are coming along to Ibrox on Saturday. "It is our opportunity to pay our respects to the brave men and women in our armed forces, our veterans and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. "It will be an honour to welcome them to the game and to applaud them when they come onto the pitch at half time.” Commenting on behalf of the Armed Forces in Scotland, Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Bruce said: “This is a fantastic gesture by Rangers to members of the Armed Forces in Scotland to commemorate Remembrance Sunday. Sport also plays a major part in the lives of military personnel. "In addition to the obvious fitness benefits it also fosters team work and resilience. "It is also critically important to the morale, welfare and operational effectiveness of Armed Forces personnel. We are all looking forward to an enjoyable match.” Fraser Bedwell, Head of Marketing at Poppyscotland, commented: “Poppyscotland is extremely grateful for the continued support from Rangers Football Club. "The money raised from the collection at Ibrox will enable us to provide even more life changing support for the Armed Forces community.”

GOOD RECEPTION FOR GREEN FROM RANGERS FAT CAT FANS THE lessons Rangers supporters learned from their headlong rush to embrace disgraced shyster Craig Whyte is one of the reasons why Charles Green had to prove himself to them before he was accepted. That was only right and proper and exactly as it should be. Only mugs would have accepted the new regime at face value. It was something Alistair McCoist, the Rangers supporter closer to the new regime than any other and no mug, took time to ponder before giving his clear and determined public backing to the Charles Green-Imran Ahmad regime It would appear, following the McCoist endorsement, there is now a growing feeling the new regime can be trusted with the stewardship of the club. To such an extent that Walter Smith is now considering an invitation to rejoin Rangers, this time at board level. While others with impeccable business and Rangers supporting credentials are also on the brink of entering the Blue Room. It has been a gradual process, but there is no doubt Charles Green and his close associate Imran Ahmad, are making progress. The warm reception Charles Green got after he addressed the fat cats for 45 minutes in the Waddell Suite on Saturday is testament to just how much progess he has made. Two months ago the businessmen who inhabit the Waddell Suite would have howled him down. Now they are willing to listen to him. And one thing which has helped this, is the way that since they arrived inside Ibrox, Charles Green and Imran Ahmad have become more and more suspicious about the actions of those seriously under-investigation administrators, Duff and Phelps. I must claim some credit for putting Duff and Phelps under the spotlight before anyone else. The proof of my claim dates back to March 1st when I published a piece here, in which I first called into question the role David Grier, a senior partner in Duff and Phelps, played in the Craig Whyte negotiations to raise the cash, via a secret loan from Ticketus, to meet the purchase price of Rangers from David Murray, putting Rangers in hock to Ticketus. I questioned David Grierâ??s role and questioned both the morality and, indeed, the legality of such a deal. That was on March 1st. It all seemed a little too shady for my liking and it was the starting point of my long campaign against the way Duff and Phelps went about the administration of Rangers, an administration which Craig Whyte moved heaven and earth to ensure was placed in their hands. And an administration which is now the subject of not one, not even just two, but three investigations, including one by the country's foremost Judicial expert in this field, Lord Hodge. Yet, amazingly, within an hour of that March 1stâ??s LeggoLand being published, I was contacted by a Rangers fan, lambasting me for what I wrote and warning me that I was stepping onto dodgy ground by inferring Duff and Phelps were â??bent.â? The gist of the argument being put forward by some supporters, who remained loyal to Craig Whyte even then, supporters who remained in denial about Craig Whyteâ??s guilt, was that if Craig Whyte had not pushed for the appointment of Duff and Phelps, then the administrators HMRC preferred would have been put in charge and they may have forced Rangers into liquidation. So, how did that turn out? The same supporters also made it clear that they had still to make their decision about Craig Whyteâ??s culpability. This, remember, was more than a fortnight after the full extent of Craig Whyteâ??s dodgy dealings with HMRC â?? the actual dealings which caused Rangers to suffer the initial indignity of administration and which eventually led to the even worse indignity of liquidation and the Third Division - had been placed in the public domain. And the point of all of this? Merely to remind people that my record of calling things right during the past nine months or so has been pretty good. Not 100 per cent. But then again, LeggoLand is not handed down on tablets of stone. Neither is it a sermon from the mount. However, further proof of me being on the money and on the trail of the Rangers cash came two days before Rangers went into administration, I questioned why David Murray was calling for further clarification as to where Craig Whyte got the money to buy Rangers, despite Murray having been involved in six months of negotiations with Whyte, which included David Murray doing due diligence on the conman. And at 9am on February 14th, a full four hours before Rangers went into administration, I started attempting to unravel the manner in which Craig Whyte had got his filthy paws on the money he used to buy Rangers and start creating havoc inside Ibrox. Then, within twenty four hours of the Craig Whyte house of cards tumbling and Rangers being put into administration, I had done some simple arithmetic and calculated that there was around £50M unaccounted for from the Rangers income during the period when Craig Whyte had been in control at Ibrox. All of which serves as a reminder to the very small and underwhelming minority of regular readers who carp ceaselessly about whatever subject I have written, even to the extent of attacking me for pointing out that Jock Stein, when Scotland manager, once had as bad a run in competitive matches as Craig Levein has just suffered. Where I will hold up my hand and admit to being wrong was, firstly over Craig Whyte, a man who we all knew little or nothing about, but who appeared to be making all the right noises when he first took over. He appeared to be bullish in his defence of Rangers, particularly in respect to attacks made by Rangers arch enemies, BBC Scotland. We know now â?? as I admit I should have spotted at that time â?? that it was not Rangers Craig Whyte was defending, it was himself. Against that, I believe I was one of the first to recognise him for what is most certainly is, a liar, a cheat, a conman, a trickster and a shyster. It was therefore reasonable for me to be sceptical of Charles Green when he arrived on the scene as another unknown quantity and in that, I was in the company of the overwhelming majority of Rangers supporters, including the Rangers fan with the inside track on the new regime, Alistair McCoist. But, as events unfolded I quckly turned against Craig Whyte â?? and I turned quicker than some â?? so events have also seen my attitude towards Charles Green and Imran Ahmad change â?? admittedly, probably more slowly than most. The turning point for me came when that bluenose with the up close and personal view of the new regime, Alistair McCoist, endorsed Charles Green and Imran Ahmad and then urged Walter Smith to accept their invitation to become a director. Only an idiot would have remained loyal to Craig Whyte long after the full extent of his chicanery was revealed. And only a fool would continue to question Charles Green and Imran Ahmadâ??s probity and commitment to Rangers, as the full extent and promised length of time of that commitment becomes known. I am neither an idiot, nor a fool. And for those who still question my track record, here is prediction to file away. Before this whole sorry sordid affair is over, someone will hear the clunk of the Bar-L gates slam behind them. It may be Craig Whyte. It could be David Grier. Or perhaps, Gary Withey. Remember him? Or it could be all three.

from FF CG spoke for 40 minutes yesterday in Ibrox, here are some of of his comments. 1 - He met with Sky last week and refuses to sign up to the new sky deal which ends in two years ! 2 - Rangers only receive approx 700k from TV money at present. 3 - All footballing debt have been paid apart from the 31k to Dundee Utd which he has a letter confirming would be paid by the SPL. 4 - They have agreed a fee of £1.3 million with Loyds for the purchase of the Albion carpark therefore canceling the lease which ran till 2025 at over 300k a year. 5 - The management team are currently looking at a list of players who will be out of contract next summer but would be availabe as free agents from Sept 1st 2013, CG plans to sign them up on a pre contract agreements next year. 6 - Rangers owed hearts the remainder of the Lee Wallace fee, Hearts were so desperate for the money eventually offering a 100k discount if we paid the cash two weeks ago.Thats why the couldn't pay the wages. 7 - Projected turnover for this year is 20 million. Next year 40 million. 8 - Share issue prospectus to be made public in a 21 page document end of this coming week or just after. 9 - Over 20 pension fund groups have an intrest in the share issue. Doncaster says we need their permission which will undoubtably mean money to those c unts. 13 - CG stated he thinks SFA will declare him not a fit and proper person to be CEO of Rangers because of his constant war with them. 14 - CG insists there is a potential to make a 100% profit on shares for all new share holders. 15 - SFA and SFL not interested in stripping of titles only the ******** at the SPL pushing for it. He will fight it all the way. 16 - He is considering taking legal action against the SPL and SFA over the agreement to allow us a Liscense to continue playing football.
